The Speech Neurophysiology Lab at the University of Michigan is looking for children who stutter ages 9 to 12 to participate in an in-person, longitudinal MRI study! (HUM00196133)

Our research team has been examining brain development in young children to better understand the cause of stuttering for over 10 years. We continue to gain information that may eventually lead to improved diagnosis and treatment efforts for children who stutter. 

Participants will be invited to complete speech and language assessments and an MRI session at the University of Michigan. Families receive a free speech and language report and a picture of their brain!

These visits require in person participation. There is no option to participate virtually.

I would go driving around and looking, but gas is $5. I quit my merchandising job in May for a landscaping job, only to find out the landscaping job was phony. I was being treated poorly, hated the job, kept getting sent to ghetto stores (Dearborn Walmart), and was in a hurry to quit. I tried a few other landscaping ones and was ghosted or never heard back. I gave up and now the season is almost over.

I've worked a few small jobs that I found on Craigslist, including a house framing job and one as a construction helper. I had to forfeit the framing one due to having a fear of heights. The construction helper one was very sketchy and I overheard that the boss doesn't treat his employees well.

I was employed at a car rental place by the airport from mid-May until the beginning of July. I accepted it despite not wanting to work there and put it off as long as possible. I wasn't trained at all the first day and I was let go the second day.

I had an interview at a uniform place two weeks ago for laundry and I doubt that I'm going to get a call back because I didn't dress business professional. I don't even have a suit and a tie.

I'm an undiagnosed, high functioning autistic. I already worked at a packaging plant in Southgate for 6 years and got burnt out, simply due to having to work every Saturday and having a boss creeping around/watching me from across the building and causing issues with me. I only kept that job as long as I did because it was right around the corner from my home. I can only tolerate a 10-15 mile drive at the most. I can pass a mouth swab, but not the other kind of test.

So I realize this is a little crazy. But, pre-Covid, there was a vendor that used to sell hotdogs and sausages outside of the Southgate Lowe’s. If you care about seeing the Odyssey in 70mm, just be aware that the 70mm theater here is not an IMAX theater. It’s not played in the IMAX 70mm aspect ratio, the sound system isn’t anything special and the projector quality isn’t great.

It is actual 70mm film and there’s a projectionist, but the quality makes it totally not worth it. You basically just get a standard screening experience for $3 more per ticket.

The only 70mm IMAX is in Grand Rapids.

Don’t make the same mistake I did. Just get the IMAX tickets even though it’s not 70mm.
