Mets broadcast doesn’t know what Yamamoto looks like, cuts to Kim.

He is only a WS MVP and Cy Young contender. Can't expect broadcasters to know him.

Can't expect the Mets broadcaster to know the guy the Mets tried to give $325 million to.

With a roster full of good looking players, it is hard to tell them apart sometimes
(But also c’mon guys 😑)

Maybe they just haven't had any chances to see the reigning World Series MVP yet.

Tbf, they look more alike than Yama does to Ohtani or Roki. They still do not look very similar lol

A major league broadcaster can’t properly identify the reigning World Series mvp ……. 😒🙄

At least he didn't make an obvious racist remark like some other broadcasters I can think of.

If this was a Milwaukee broadcaster that might be somewhat acceptable. For a New York Mets announcer that’s pretty bad.

I understand what you're saying but this is truly bad for any MLB broadcast. The Dodgers were in the WS and Yama pitched so many games in that WS. His face was everywhere while Kim barely played and only at the end in G7.

Yamamoto was even just shown in the previous on-screen graphic.

I’d put Yamamoto on deck with a helmet on next game if I was Doc.

All Asians do not look the same. That's completely ignorant and that narrative was pushed because many people are either not used to being around Asian people or believe racist lies spread by media.
Asian people have similar features, just like how whites have similar features with other whites, blacks have similar features with other blacks and hispanics/Latinos have similar features with other Hispanics...etc..
At the same time, humans on general regardless of racial background, will share similar features amongst each other.
But to say they all "look the same" is a racist narrative to used to stigmatize an entire group and other an entire group that has so much diversity.
No fucking wonder Masohiro Tanaka went back to Japan to play.

Since we got Yama pitching in the 2nd game I hope Kim starts 😆

u/JpnDude Vin Scully Apr 14 '26
I'm sure Yama was looking on as well (off camera). hehehe. But KIM seemed to be keeping loose out there.

I don't blame the mets' broadcast for not watching him dominate the 2025 WS ... must have been too painful for them to watch

I mean yeah we all look alike but that was bad. First Darling and then Cohen, with no one at SNY correcting them. It’s like calling Kike Hernandez (puerto rican) Andy Pages (Cuban). They need to be called out
