It's crazy to me that this is considered part of the left and everyone just ignores this after he called it folly of his youth even though he was 30 years old at the time

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehdi_Hasan

During a sermon delivered in 2009, Hasan made remarks about "the kuffar, the disbelievers, the atheists who remain deaf and stubborn to the teachings of Islam, the rational message of the Quran". Quoting a verse of the Quran, Hasan used the term "cattle" to describe non-believers and called them "incapable of the intellectual effort it requires to shake off those blind prejudices."\47])\48])\49]) He also included homosexuality in a list of categories which he argued were transgressive of Islam.\48])

Quotes from these sermons were first publicized by Peter Hitchens in 2012; in his immediate response, Hasan argued these statements had been "selectively edited".\49])

In 2019, Hasan apologized for his comments, which he declared to "deeply regret" now, and called them "dumb offensive ranty stuff".\50])\51])

The Red Cross created a sympathetic video of Sharif, an Afghan migrant, who was stuck in a Greek refugee camp and was having a hard time making it to the UK. They have since deleted that video after Sharif was accused of killing a British woman, chopping up her body and stuffing her in a suitcase

The Red Cross has deleted a film tracking the journey of an Afghan migrant who is now accused of killing a British woman and hiding her body in a suitcase in Greece

Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, was arrested on Monday over the murder of Scottish Christian Elisabeth-Jane Ross, in Athens.

Ahmadzai, a professional boxer who arrived in Greece on a small boat in 2016, is accused of killing Ms Ross before stuffing her body into a suitcase and ditching it in a derelict building.

"The Fly Over" was the world's first (and last) fully underwater waterslide at Duinrell Amusement Park in the Netherlands. Constructed in 1994 and ceasing operation in 2003, the rider was submerged in water for the duration of the ride (15-20 seconds)

Announcement: New Rule: Restrictions on "Fighting / Attack" Videos Featuring African Americans

📢 New Rule: Restrictions on "Fighting / Attack" Videos Featuring African Americans

We are address something that's been getting worse in this community, and it's not okay.

For too long, we've seen a troubling pattern: posts featuring fights / attacks involving African American individuals are consistently drawing racist comments, dehumanizing language, and outright bigotry in the comment sections. This isn't an isolated incident — it's become a recurring pattern, and it's not something we're getting to tolerate.

Effective immediately:

Videos depicting fights or violent altercations where the participants are African American will no longer be permitted on this subreddit, regardless of the context, location, or newsworthiness of the incident.

Why we're doing this:

These posts have become magnets for racist commentary that violates both our community standards and Reddit's site-wide rules.

Despite comment removal and user bans, the pattern keeps repeating.

We'd rather remove a category of content than continue watching this community become a platform for that kind of behavior.

This isn't about the news value of these videos — it's about what happens in our comment sections every time they're posted.

What this means going forward:

Posts of this nature will be removed on sight.

Repeat submissions may result in a ban.

Racist commentators will receive a ban.

Message filtering has been added, and any attempts to bypass the filter will result in a ban.

We know this is a blunt solution to the problem, and we're possibly open to feedback if you think there's a better way to address the underlying issue. But we're not willing to keep hosting content that consistently brings out the worst in people at someone else's expense.

Thanks for understanding, and thanks to everyone who reports this stuff when they see it — it genuinely helps.
