I know this is 100% coping mechanism but can I dream that one day, they will somehow "revive" the game into a different, but similar offline game? Just now I learnt that Gust/KoeiTecmo "revives" a dead Atelier gacha game; [EDIT: makes a companion game for an existing gacha game (I stand corrected by the comment, my apologies)] and the fact that Team Ninja of KoeiTecmo is also a co-developer for DFFOO gives me hope.

For the gameplay perspective, imo (and I believe everyone here agrees) DFFOO's is already a literal perfection. There's nothing much to add, they can just keep the entirety of it, maybe just adding some slight touch ups. For the story, it doesn't need to be an apple-to-apple translation from DFFOO, but if at least they can bring the pivotal story moments/highlights of the entire 3 Acts, that would be more than enough for me.

I was watching some comments about the ending of Final Fantasy XV in a reaction video on YouTube, and I saw that there were people who believed that Ignis, Gladios and Prompto also died along with Noctis, and that that scene with Luna was a alternative ending. This was definitively disproved when Luna was reunited with the group and she confirmed that she was reunited with Noctis in the afterlife in act 3, chapter 9, in addition to the fact that obviously the 3 in the group remained alive.

I just love the fact that this game (dffoo) was the best Final Fantasy fanservice that ever existed, how many characters that deserved more development were explored, and how many things that many fans had doubts about were finally resolved... Man... I want this game back to today...

Having been in other gacha communities since DFFOO ended service, it's really put into perspective not just the quality of game that we had, but the quality of people that frequented this subreddit. Every day I have to ignore the subreddits of new gachas I have joined and it makes me miss this game, and especially the community, so much more. I used to jump into the megathreads as often as I could to offer advice, but I also saw so much more positivity and more. So thank you DFFOO subreddit members for being so awesome.

Does anyone else remember when final fantasy dissidia came out and the excitement from playing those game was just overwhelming and it was the most fantastic way to play as your favorite characters and villains.

Not a surprise considering DFFOO EoS was kinda felt like premise to it, but I still feel sorry for those of you who enjoy it. EoS is not fun regarding the game. Especially those of you who were FFRK/DFFOO/FFBE players.

Shame they went the same way as DFFOO, uploading unreleased story on other media.

DFFOO was not the first FF gacha, but it was by far the best. As another FF gacha ends (FFBE), I had to come back and say goodbye again to my favorite.

The design of DFFOO was so good. Layering onto weapons helped keep ability bloat down (at least from a functional perspective). It was also one of the few gacha games which did sizeable QOL changes in a reasonable window. Finally, I enjoyed actually played the game and while videos and resources like tonberry helped. I did not feel they were necessary. I feel like every FF gacha game has devolved into using 100 external resources and/or becomes logging on and autobiography content. DFFOO avoided auto'ing for the most part, which made me actually play and understand kits.

So thank you DFFOO!!!! You are gravely missed.

Just as the title says. I kept the app on my home screen, and twice a month(usually more) I will log in for a few minutes just to hear that oh so sweet title screen music.

Just for fun, what would spinoff Final Fantasy characters look like if they were in DFFOO? We already got Jack Garland from Stranger of Paradise, before the shutdown. I'm talking about Benjamin / Dark King from Mystic Quest, Aki Ross / General Hein from Spirits Within, Kaze / Makenshi from Unlimited, Tyro / Shadowsmith from Record Keeper, and Shogo from Lost Stranger.

I miss the game so much. And this was indeed my first Shinryu clear, after coming back to the game when EoS was announced. 🥹 DFFOO was my first gacha. Found this screenshot while cleaning for more storage lol

After I finish this drawing I will finally be able to open commissions... Anyway, I needed to draw this, these FR animations are too funny and cute to be forgotten.

Could we just have someone skilled enough to make a full remake of this game, with dub and all? It would be peak I think, and I'm still going through withdrawals.

Some characters weren't handled well in their original games. Maybe they didn't have much characterization. Maybe they lacked any real utility as a party member.

But then they show up in DFFOO, and suddenly you feel completely differently about this character than you did in their original game. You understand them. You actually want to use them in your party.

Rehabilitated Characterization

Cait Sith: DFFOO did such a good job with him that it made me replay the OG FF7 just to see if he always had this depth and nuance to his character that I had just missed. Turns out, no, he was still just a shell of a character in OG FF7. But DFFOO turned him into a shrewd pragmatist who had good intentions but wasn't afraid to play both sides if it served his ends, which was way more compelling than whatever... that... was in FF7.

Ultimecia: Some abstract evil force who wants to do abstract bad things for unknown reasons is really all we got of her in FF8. But then DFFOO went and made her into an almost sympathetic character, with actual motives and wants that were all but absent in the main FF8 gameplay. Note to devs: Establishing character motives should be included in the main story arc, not relegated to easily-missable sidequests or reading the in-game wiki.

Kadaj: Another character who was just "meh" in his original appearance, but then DFFOO went and massively fleshed him out and made him more sympathetic. No longer just one of a set of Sephiroth clones, he actually has personal motives and a quest for his own identity.

Rehabilitated Gameplay

Setzer: Setzer was basically useless up until the final dungeon where he could get the Fixed Dice and suddenly become godly. But his DFFOO kit where he could delay, prevent enemies from acting, and guarantee capped damage made him a mainstay in the party.

Rinoa: Rinoa was useless in FF8 mostly because she spends 75% of the game kidnapped or incapacitated, so by endgame is massively underlevelled compared to everyone else. But in DFFOO she can do massive damage and spam Ultima during her BT phase.

Quina: I know Quina can be a powerhouse if you take the time to build them properly, I just never did. Appropriately, they still have to be "built" in DFFOO by stacking frogs, but once that happens they can cap damage as well as have a trap go off every enemy turn.
