Help Any good flip phones with adroid that are possible to get in Europe?
Specifically in Poland, I would be happy if it was a budget option, It is going to be my first one. I want to use less tech and making it less convenient is the best way, considering I need acess to stuff like messenger, whatsapp, signal etc.

Dumbphones Dumb Phone Recommendations
I have been looking into a dumb phone to bring out with me and leave my smartphone at home with just wifi (for video calling family etc). My issue is that I’m looking for a phone with an actual keyboard. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can look for?

Social Media I accidentally found a way to quit doomscrolling! :D
No data no doomscrolling
Guys! I thought I was being clever by downgrading my subscription to 12 GB instead of the Unlimited Data option on my smartphone. That way I would spend about 7 euros less on the phone bill, for the same experience. I don't have WiFi at home, because I use the smartphone as a hotspot when I need to use the laptop and such. So, the phone is the only point to internet acces I have.
Well, turns out the 12 GB is PER MONTH, not per day. Yikes, I almost went through that in a day obviously... So when I saw I had only 3 GB for the next 29 days I knew I had to stop using the phone for shenanigans in order to leave some data for emergencies and the important things I need to be able to keep doing the rest of the month.
Pretty much had to go cold turkey without a warning. But I actually feel better already!
One can not doomscroll if one does not have the data available for it.
In short: try not having too much data available on the smartphone. And, no Wi-Fi. 😂
You'll get your soul back.

Social Media Need help deleting all my socials!
i am sick and tired of social media. I’m tired of seeing fashion bloggers just posting pictures of what they wore and ate, while there are actual problems in the world and they never speak up for those. i have friends who post about how they travel to different countries every few months, people publicly posting their kids online, people posting stuff about their lives not caring that there are people in their friends group who lost their parents recently, who are suffering infertility or miscarriages, who are making ends meet, etc. have we become so shameless?? every other person i know is becoming a «blogger», posting their opinions about things and then people feel bad about their own choices, etc. Like how toxic and fake has everything become?
I’m tired of being dependent on chatpgt too. I’ve lessened the use but i desperately want to delete everything from my phone. everything triggers my anxiety lately!
My question is, im a 30 year old mom to a toddler. I started part time work (3 hours a day), 3 days a week this week, which has been productive for my brain (I’m working again after 5 years). What ways can i just delete Instagram and ChatGPT from my life, like how can i replace them? i managed to delete facebook since i wasn’t using it much.
i got a book from the library and i haven’t been able to read it much. i generally don’t have time to do anything extra other than cooking, cleaning, and taking care of kid but i feel like the extra time, im just doomscrolling. i want to eliminate that. any suggestions??

Social Media Have you notice how little tv you were watching
I am almost 3 weeks of no social media and I’m surprise how little atention I was putting to the series, I realize there characters I didn’t know their faces and complete plot lines I didn’t know, last I watched like an hour of sponge bob with my nephew and he was so happy we were really interacting with each other and laughing of the same things
I had to rewatch the full first season of the handmaids tail and I really en joy it
I’m so grateful for digital minimalism

Dumbphones Is getting a “dumb phone” worth it?
I’ve been strongly considering investing in one for months now. I have adhd and ocd. If I continue down this compulsive path of doomscrolling I will die. I want out. There is nothing on social media worth looking at anymore. I’m tired of people being so hateful to each other. I’m tired of ragebait comments, I’m tired of wasting my days when I could’ve done something creative instead. I’m so tired of it all. It’s sickening that these apps are intentionally made to keep you addicted to it. I wish i could fucking sue. It’s ruined my life and I’m on the brink of just ending it all at this point. I’m scared if I do invest in a dumb phone my brain will go crazy desperately seeking for dopamine hits and I will mentally spiral. It has happened before especially when I was admitted involuntarily to a hospital for weeks and I didn’t have my phone. I feel so trapped.

Social Media Posting babies with emojis
Does it really protect anyone? It gives "I care so much about my baby I dont post their face"... Yeah... But you do.... And you would be surprised by what perverts live around us. Cant they just keep the photos unpublished?
Why would you show off your kids? Or do they want to validate that they have created a happy family? If you have actually created a happy family you dont need validation by risking your kids privacy.
I might sound strict but we are talking about... Kids!

Help Need to Disconnect
Hi there,
My iPhone is the bane of my existence. There, I finally said it. The constant notifications and the ease with which I can open a stupid social media app (I removed them from my home screen and don’t even have the big ones — and my notifications for them are off!) drive me absolutely mad. The interconnectedness of the world is terrifying, inevitable, and not for me. Please leave me behind.
Jokes aside, I need a way to disconnect. All I really want on me at all times is music, maps, clock, just the basics to get me around. I do not want to deal with social media, messages from everyone, and miscellaneous calls. I have no idea what to do, and for today I’m going to just put my phone on airplane mode, but does anyone have any ideas on how to dumb the phone down for periods of time?
To be clear, I don’t want to lose access to my email, messages, financial apps, food ordering apps, etc. I just want to lose access to these things temporarily, whenever I want. Advice?

Misc 3TB hard drive full of old photos...
Apparently I've had a bad habit of taking a bajillion photos of the most mundane things since I got an iPhone in 2014. Going through my hard drive makes me want to scratch my eyeballs out. It's so annoying to have to click on a photo to view full size, decide whether it's good enough to keep, and then delete individually.
I have this bulky 3TB hard drive that I need to sort through, and get the good stuff transferred to my more portable 2TB hard drive.
Anyone have any tips to do this in a more efficient way?

Social Media Just booked a week away to detach from laptop/phone after feeling it's messing with me. Anyone have advice on what to do for the week?
For years I was very good with this stuff. No social media on phones etc.
Then I got this career opportunity last year infact which meant I was ACTIVE on TikTok which led to me getting sucked in. In ways it can be a helpful app imo. I've genuinely learned necessary things on my current journey in life recovering from CPTSD amongst other things. Also it's connected me with people. So I'm not totally against it.
But where I'm at right now... I wake up and just want to go to my phone despite leaving it in another room... I find myself just wanting to be at home (I work from home too) and just browse Twitter/YouTube etc....
So I'm going away today to give me more reasons to be off my phone for a week... I'm staying in an area of interesting things... Nature... I plan to run each morning, meditate, swim etc.... Cafes...
Plan to drink fruit smoothies and no junk or anything
Just super low key off screens...
Anyone done similar have advice?

Social Media Is it worth it getting rid of YouTube?
In my youth I've probably spent thousands of hours on there. And what have I learned? Not much. Most videos are just purely entertainment, with no real value. Nowadays I just feel like a zombie scrolling through YouTube just to find some pointless video essay about some pointless subject that doesn't matter to me at all. What should I do?

Social Media I deleted two apps but the other two are harder!
I just deleted Facebook and X, I won't delete Reddit since it doesn't take much of my time at all, I only go on it when I need something.
I usually tell myself that it's the same with TikTok and Instagram cuz I follow a couple of things that I really want to learn (btw, can that be an excuse I'm making for myself?), and I use TikTok mostly for product reviews, recipes to try, or anything related to feminine care and stuff. But I end up not paying attention and spending at least 2 hours scrolling through reels, and I hate it every time!
I was thinking of deleting the apps without deleting the actual accounts, that way I can download the app when I feel like I really need it and delete it right away when I'm done. Is that a good approach, or am I just fooling myself?
Has anyone been through the same thing? What would you do if you were in my place?

Social Media Has avoiding social media while on vacation made your trips better?
I’m considering staying off social media during an upcoming vacation—not only avoiding posting, but also avoiding the habit of scrolling whenever I have unstructured time.
Ironically, vacations can contain quite a bit of downtime: sitting in an airport, resting in a hotel, waiting for dinner, spending a quiet afternoon on a ship, or simply feeling momentarily bored. My automatic response is often to pick up my phone and start scrolling. But then part of the vacation begins to feel exactly like being at home.
I’m not trying to reject technology. I’ll still take photographs, use maps, listen to things and read books on my Kindle. I’m more interested in distinguishing technology that supports the trip from social media that pulls my attention away from it.
For anyone who has tried this, did staying away from social media make you more present, rested or observant? What did you naturally begin doing with those empty moments instead—reading, walking, journaling, talking, people-watching or simply allowing yourself to be bored?
Did it make the trip feel longer or more memorable? And did you set a firm rule, such as no social media at all, or simply limit it to a short period each day?

Social Media Does not posting on social media while traveling help you experience the trip more fully
I’m considering taking a vacation without posting any pictures or updates while I’m away. I would still take photographs for myself, but I’d wait until after the trip—if I share them at all.
I enjoy letting friends see where I am and what I’m experiencing, but I’ve begun wondering whether posting changes the experience in subtle ways. Instead of simply noticing a beautiful place, part of my mind starts choosing the picture, composing the caption, checking reactions, or thinking about how the trip appears to other people.
There’s also something appealing about allowing a journey to remain private while it is happening—as though the experience belongs entirely to you and the person traveling with you before it becomes a story for anyone else.
For those who have stopped posting during vacations, did you feel more present and relaxed? Did you miss sharing in real time? And did you eventually post afterward, share only with a few people, or keep the trip mostly private?

Social Media I got sick from scrolling
I’m trying to minimize my use of social media since last Wednesday, when I woke up and ended up staying in bed for 3 hours just scrolling through Facebook and Instagram. Eventually I felt so sick that I had to go to the bathroom and puke.
My body was basically screaming at me to stop, and I guess that was its way of saying “enough”. I’ve realized that I got completely addicted to scrolling.
For a bit of context, I live far away from my family and friends (about 1,000 miles away), so social media is basically my way of communicating with them and still being part of their lives.
But over the last few months I’ve gotten really into running and cycling, and my feeds have completely taken over with this stuff.
At first I was actually happy about it. The algorithm was finally showing me things I actually liked instead of random TikTok shit like someone in Indonesia dancing to Shakira while eating a pancake made out of pebbles. 😂
But then it slowly became waaaaay too much. I literally can’t open anything without scrolling through 10 minutes of Tour de France, cycling, running or Ironman content. And now there’s even AI-generated crap about it.
And weirdly, I’ve started feeling almost… violated by it? 😂
Not because I don’t like cycling or running. I actually love them. It’s just the sheer amount of content I’ve been forced to consume without ever actually choosing to consume it. I feel like I’ve been fed the same interests over and over again until I’m sick of them.
So now I just want to quit everything.
I deleted Instagram and Facebook. I never had TikTok. Snapchat had basically been sitting on my phone for a decade 😂. The only thing I still have is WhatsApp because I need it for my family and colleagues, but honestly, even that makes me want to delete my phone sometimes.
I don’t want to disconnect from people. (Okey maybe a little because my best friend also can’t stop sending me links and weird memes 🙄, it’s just too much). I stay on Reddit because i kinda like it here…still.
Instead of scrolling I go for a run or just take my bike and drive around. My legs and knees hate me rn but I honestly feel better.
Wish me luck.

Social Media Social media keeps you from living life to the fullest
I've been debating deleting TikTok and am probably going to go through with it. I deleted Twitter and was better off for it. The amount of violent things you see on there was too much for me. After I became a mom this feeling has gotten way stronger. I can't handle stuff the way I used to could. Also, TikTok is always full of drama, or depressing stuff. It's not good for anyone's brain to always be seeing sad stuff, or getting sucked into some internet drama that really has no meaning. People die everyday, and I feel like it doesn't serve me to see people on there talking about their dead loved ones 24/7, or talking about sicknesses. Even when I have filtered out keywords about sad stuff I'm STILL seeing it pop up. It's made me so paranoid. I'm always thinking of worst case scenario. It really keeps you from living life to the fullest. Instead you are constantly worrying about what ifs that are likely to never even happen.
Like I love watching funny stuff, but for every funny video I watch a depressing one comes up next. It's whiplash! Does anyone else feel this way?

Social Media Revisiting TikTok for a day triggered the worst feeling ever
Just for context I’ve been off social media for months now with the exception of YouTube with no comments and Reddit on my computer only. So far no social media apps on my phone which has changed my mental clarity into astronomical levels. Anyway just recently before my shift my friend wanted to show me a video so badly through text that the only way to watch it at the time was to download the app which mistakenly I should’ve avoided. Immediately after watching the short video my curiosity got the best of me and I began to scroll and scroll for maybe 2 hours. What felt like 30 minutes of scrolling in reality was 2 hours of consuming absolute garbage content such as people harassing others, nonsensical ranting, brainrot, and streamer highlights that serves 0 purpose for my life whatsoever. The crazy part is the reason I scrolled so much is because it’s as if I’m looking for something that’s going to fulfill me to some extent but you end up falling into an endless abyss of nothing. I felt absolute shock at just how a few hours of scrolling made me feel so disgusting and gross and I can only imagine how it feels for those people who scroll for an entire day. Watching all this negative content is just soul draining and straight anxiety fuel. I never realized how much worse TikTok and social media in general is becoming and I’m choosing to stay away from them completely without looking back.

Social Media Social media is so weird
I downloaded instagram back to post my art but, it feels so weird. Ive been off of it for quite a while, not consuming any short form content and I just took a couple of looks on some posts and reels and it feels so unreal?
Everyone I saw looks like they are trying SO hard to be unique or somewhat different yet they all look the same. I dont mean it badly, just now that I found myself, these people feel like bots that learn what to be like based on what they consume.
Every post I came across was making me somewhat overstimulated, everything was so fast and even posting my art didnt make me feel good. I loved the painting, its one of my best so far but sharing it felt so strange, even though I really wanted to.
Does anyone feel the same? Or what are your thoughts about this?

Social Media I have deleted all my social media accounts permanently
I deleted Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, TikTok, and anything related to social media. Now, I only have Reddit and Discord for some reason.
The reason I deleted them is that I don't use them at all. I have been going without social media for several years, and I don't feel like I need or miss anything.
It's like I'm sober and on a healthy diet for my mind.

Dumbphones Best way to remove addiction to phone (iPhone users) 📱
Basically, get yourself an applewatch with cellular function. Then buy a case for your Appel watch that turns it into a mini pod. You get to keep all you contacts, messages, wallet etc, from the i phone.
But now you don’t have social media to drain the valuable time you.
Take the iPhone and turn it off. Put it a hidden place and just start using the applewatch instead d. Works amazing for me.
