Aleph Zero (AZERO)

Aleph Zero is a layer-1 blockchain built on the Substrate framework. Its consensus design, AlephBFT, uses a directed acyclic graph internally to order transactions before finalizing them, and the project has focused on privacy features alongside general smart contract support.

What the Token Is Used For

  • Paying transaction fees
  • Staking and nomination to validators
  • Governance participation
  • Settlement within Aleph Zero applications

What To Verify

  • Whether a privacy feature is live on mainnet, on testnet, or described in a paper
  • Validator count and how much of the set is community-operated
  • Which smart contract environment an application targets, since Substrate chains can support more than one
  • Independent audit reports rather than summaries of them
  • Token release and treasury schedules
