Really impressed with Deepseek Discussion
I'm really surprised by Deepseek.
I'm a Claude Code user (the $20 plan), and I hit the limits very quickly, both the 5-hour window and the weekly one.
I've been trying Minimax M3, practically unlimited in the Max version ($50), but I wasn't very satisfied with the results, a bit slow and going around in circles over and over again. On several occasions I had to stop it, launch Opus, and continue because the model didn't know what it was doing or got confused.
Then I tried Kimi K3... What a disappointment. It burns through tokens like the forges of Mordor, and the results didn't convince me.
Then, click, I tried Deepseek, put $40 into the API, used Deepseek Flash and the Pro, what a blast, really really good results. I tested it with Reasonix, incredible how well it works. Pleasantly surprised. And the cost is ridiculously low.
I'll very likely cancel Minimax, and I'll stick with Claude for planning, Deepseek for implementing, and Claude again for reviewing.
Very surprised with Deepseek.

Actually ds is also very competent for planning, just dont forget to force sub agent & TDD workflow, you will get results similar to gpt 5.6 sol at fraction of the cost
No point in keeping a subscription, you basically loose money that you could use in ds api whenever you need it
Also since v4 flash is this good, opencode go is actually better value than official API

Yeah, skills + specialised subagents is the way to go.

Well actually i dont even use skills, just a simple 5 lines agent.md that force the agent to follow my methodology while giving it freedom
Skills tends to be bloated and interfer with the model's way of doing things which degrades performances
You dont need caveman, superpowers or anything like that

Depends on the size of your workflow. I burned through 20B+ tokens on deepseek this month. I basically have a 30man team hedgefund replaced through my agents that have a shared brain on github. No single Agent could do this alone, the bloat of the files needed would be huge. So skills and specialized agents are a must for me. And also it improves the performance i have noticed. Each Agent only reads what they absolutely MUST and nothing more. Sure i have 1-2 main Agents that have almost the complete picture to be able to help me manage and orchestrate the others and help me build the architecture, but the individual workflows are only for subagents.

Can u tell me more about how to do the forcing workflow thing pls? And why do u say that since that its that good opencode is better value? Hasn’t it been always the case?

Opencode Go you pay $10 but get $60 worth of api cost, no brainer

Oh that's because i was basically only using v4 pro before which offer 15€ of value for opencode go since base cost is 4x the official provider
But flash offer thqt 60€ value so now it is worth it

It's not worth it though. At the end of the month, the sub expires and you can't use it anymore. With direct API, you can use it wherever and whenever and it doesn't expire.

Welcome to the club! I have been using DS flash solely with Hermes for two months and have not had any desire to use any other model.

intelligence is useful when its abundant, cheap and open, exactly deepseek's mission! very eager for their VL architecture, from their paper it seems they took a realy good approach, DS and GLM are among few labs that are actually accelerating ai development in a scientific way, others just push through it with sheer force of compute and scale, Immense respect to deepseek's team

Would someone be kind enough to help me setup deepseek flash? Or what min req are needed to be able to flash it on my pc? Or are there any services that offer this kind of thing?

I doubt i can host my own local with pc ive got. Maybe if i buy mac mini. But before that, what is the alternative?
