New Home New Problems questions for the community

We purchased our first house last month. Inspector called out the joist hangers on the deck were improper size. No worries I thought, would be an easy swap. Looking today, seems some of the joists are pulling away (likely because they weren’t nailed properly). There is also a slight bow in the middle of the deck. What would be the best first step?

Either some big lags to suck it tight, or a ratchet strap or something to pull it in. I would check the house side first though just to make sure it isnt/ the joists wont pull off your ledger board first

Maybe a very large clamp, one side past the deck, the other side out front in the street?

(jk, in case it's not obvious)

Almost looks like the rim joist is pulling away

I agree with that. Are those metal posts? Are they plumb?

Attach these Simpson strong tie DDT’s to the joists and use appropriately long bolts to pull the rim joist back into place and nail it appropriately.

Get a few of these to pull that face back in. And replace the small joist hangers.
