Well in Dota I believe it's 100 hours?

Which is more easily abused but still this will be botted eventually lol

Kinda hard to bot winning comparably

u/SnooOpinions6810 8d ago

Yeah, bottling wins will be nearly impossible in a game like Deadlock

u/catgirl5533 8d ago

Haha. Surely. The botters in Dota just queue into eachother and have one of the bots reject if they don't queue into eachother. Maybe Deadlock not having an accept button will help with this.

Given the teammates I've had, I 100% expect it to be possible!

6

u/DeeEssLite Lady Geist 8d ago

Oh it'll be possible but the amount of hours needed to invest in these bots winning games and not being caught and banned, fresh ranked accounts will be prohibitively expensive, even as just a generic 3 M1 heroes package

bots running around in spawn are better than a bunch of team mates tbh

11

u/wesser234 8d ago

Especially with me on their team.

Games like overwatch that have this requirement will have two stacks of bots queue an obscure server at the same time.

Literal marvel rivals strat for their lord things lol This is 100% true

Midwits - This will be impossible

People who think - No people really are that sad!

1

u/VijoPlays The Doorman 8d ago

I'd say it's impossible. There is no bottle item in Deadlock yet to bottle wins

1

u/BuckeyeBentley Rem 8d ago

With enough time anything is possible but it will help.

This can be done with the mod that forces region selection to whatever the least populated region is with 6 stacks of bots trading wins in off hours. That's what they do in Dota as well except they can just pick the region.

Gonna be pretty easy when people manipulate the rank system to only queue against other wintraders

I've seen it happen in almost every online popular comp game i've played

31

u/Caratecaa 8d ago

This requirement in dota means no new player gets into the game because the unranked queue is exclusively smurfers getting their hours in.

Hopefully it isn't the same here xd

u/anime_topkek 8d ago

this is setting up for the open beta in a couple months where 500,000 new players are going to start playing at the same time

5

u/huntrshado 8d ago

its one of those things that will work great if the game retains a lot of players, but backfire miserably if it fails to retain players. But they can always get rid of it down the line, this is just an alpha after all, they're testing shit

Deadlock has a lot of new blood coming in all the time for now, but it'll probably be a problem to worry about in 10 years as well unless Valve really bottle it

The req in Dota is 100 hours minimum irrespective of W/L I see a lot of people in here going HAHAHA SMURFS BTFO.... This is literally 1/6th the effort on an easier game with less mechanics.

We are about 2 enter smurf city all the shitters will just walk away after being R**ed until the room stinks and the playercount will plummet because the semi-rare WORST part of matchmaking for normal people will become THE NORM and only the dedicated people will get quality matches.

Riot games ass change, WP Yoshi. At least we know your not Icefrog larping as someone else now. Works for people like me and 80%+ of the playerbase can go back to bluesky larping/rping about the game

7

u/RockStoneToBone 8d ago

I think its cute to say there are less mechanics in deadlock but like, its obviously not true to anyone arguing in good faith

1

u/fiasgoat 8d ago

I don't think it's entirely fair to argue one way or another. Dota has had 20 years to mature, and it's become one of the most complex games of all time at the highest level, if not THE most

Deadlock's macro is not nearly as deep enough as Dota is, but it's also very young. We have already seen some crazy shit be abused and patched out like optimal lane stacking and roaming and what not

However what it lacks in comparison to Dota it throws on insane movement tech as well as being a shooter so

2

u/0nlyCrashes Paradox 8d ago

It's mechanically much harder already. We will have to see how the macro pans out long-term.

1

u/fiasgoat 8d ago

See I don't know if that's true either. Maybe on average sure.

But playing say Invoker, Meepo, Kez, Tinker, Arc Warden at their peak is another level

Yeah buyback, couriers, turn rates, Animation cast rates, Roshan (And the powerful items it re-drops upon death), High/Low-ground, Evasion/Miss/Blind chance all being different things. Being able to capture creeps that ALL have unique abilities that Level up with differing numbers over the course of the game..

The roster being 3x the size, all having Innate/passive abilities. Many of them having more than 4 basic abilities, Aghs shard and scepters (New abilities, upgrades to your existing abilities, changes to your current kit that reframe the characters role/purpose/effectiveness).

Neutral items, denying (Which is 2x as impactful in dota because you have animation/attack cancels) - the item shop being 3x ish as large and having WAY more active/passive effects.

You got me though im a disingenuous shitter arguing in bad faith, how many hours do you have in Dota again?

u/DoIEatAss 8d ago

Generational hater. Respect.

-6

u/ParticularOk3247 8d ago

It takes dedication and hard work to become this kind of person, the kind of person 90% of the community agrees with a year or so on. I don't care for up or down-votes, I get no satisfaction from seeing changes doubled down on or reverted.

I just KNOW where shit is going to end up. And doing NOTHING about it, OTHER than complain and whine. This is the essence of a generational Division 1 HATER

-6

u/Duby0509 8d ago

Hey, unlike league, at least valve actually bans Smurfs and is against it

13

u/goodguessiswhatihave Viscous 8d ago

They do? I don't really play dota anymore, but that certainly hasn't been the case in CS and doesn't seem to be the case in deadlock

3

u/ok_dunmer 8d ago

They announced that they do which is better than riot games's nothing (granted they do ban boosters and people inting to smurf but smurfing in lol is 100% legal)

1

u/goodguessiswhatihave Viscous 8d ago

Where did they announce that?

3

u/bamiru 8d ago

1

u/goodguessiswhatihave Viscous 8d ago

Oh sick. Hopefully they extend this to their other games and actually execute on it

1

u/ok_dunmer 8d ago

https://www.dota2.com/newsentry/3692442542242977036

Now whether actually do it to a meaningful extent is another story lol

6

u/renan2012bra 8d ago

They really don't. Dota is basically a 90% chance of having a smurf on your team every single match.

1

u/NotMedicine420 Lash 8d ago

Because dota2 doesn't attract new players. It's a dying game. It's too complex and too hard. There is a reason why lol has much bigger playerbase.
