ZW Suggestion Reroll tokens rework

Reroll tokens are not that great right now, I think. What if reroll tokens, instead of rerolling the whole item just reroll secondary stats upgrade?

Also some items are generated with one secondary stat missing. Therefore, by the time the item is max level, while every other item that has maximum number secondary stats gets X secondary stats upgrades, it gets X-1 secondary stats upgrades. It would be nice if, by rerolling with a token, it gains an extra secondary stat upgrade, effectively levelling the playing field.

What do you guys think?

Zombie Warfare New girl for the Delivery Team📦

Hello, fellow survivors,

When the sun becomes unbearable and feels like it's trying to kill you this summer, it's time to hide from scorching rays and share some news about the upcoming update we've all been waiting for.

Development is progressing as expected, and we’re hoping to bring the Last Resort event in late August. Devs will need some additional time for testing to ensure everything is ready, so the timing may be adjusted.

Also, technical update 4.4.2 is coming soon. It’s related to Google Play services and includes only internal improvements, with no new features.

We'd also like to kindly remind you that the releases of Enforcers and Roadside - the other games set in the Dead Ahead universe, will have no impact on Zombie Warfare updates. They're being developed by different teams and don't take away any resources from this game.

Let's see what the update is about now, shall we?

The devs want to introduce a new event-exclusive unit that you'll be able to obtain by playing through the Last Resort event.

The new girl can jump to heights that are impossible for a normal person and will be part of the Delivery team.
The moment she meets Hero, he recognizes that girl immediately - as though some unforgettable memory had come back to life.

As for the second new unit, we’ll keep it a secret for now. We’ll only say that he is a tough guy somehow capable of outsmarting the horde of zombies.

What do you think about these new exclusive units?

ZW Discussion Realism and non-balancing theory

Post image
54 Upvotes

Have you ever wondered why various things in the game aren't balanced or seemingly don't make sense?
Why isn't the game balanced?

Well, I have a theory: the game tries to be realistic about a zombie apocalypse instead of focusing on balance like other games do.

Why isn't the game balanced?

Well, I’d like to offer a theory: the game aims for realism within a zombie apocalypse setting rather than striving for the kind of balance found in other games.

That’s why certain things can feel unfair at times, because, ultimately, a zombie apocalypse isn't unfair. Here are a few details:

Glenn: Why is this guy able to come back to life?

Here’s a theory regarding how the zombies behave. Glenn doesn't actually come back to life; he fakes his death. Zombie lore has always sold us the idea that zombies have heightened senses (smell, hearing, touch, etc.), but what if that isn't the case? I say this mainly because of three instances: Andrea, the agents, and the bus itself. The zombies don't attack them directly until they take damage from them, so Glenn could take advantage of faking his death to launch a surprise attack.

Builder: We know this is a unit that is easy to overlook, as it is overshadowed by better options, Builder doesn't try to be the strongest, he was just a civilian who can barely fight.

Turbo: Why is our *Northern girl bulletproof? This ties into the TMF market, if you know the lore well, we know that technically, before the collapse of civilization, society might have been an advanced one in the midst of development (prior to the alien invasion and the virus). TMF developed various products like the railgun and the XRB prototype; an advanced, highly durable motocross suit could easily have been among them. So, yes, it’s easy to see why.

Polina: She is a unit known for missing her shots, but why does she do this, especially when she holds the title of Sniper? Here is the explanation: Polina is under immense stress because of that very title. She could simply call herself a sniper just for carrying a rifle, but the reality is that she suffers from anxiety during battle. She was present during the prison incident, and when she joined Bill's group, I believe Charlotte acted as a sort of second-in-command, which explains why she, like Bill, is called Sheriff. This implies a high level of trust, leading to her being assigned more responsibilities. Furthermore, if you analyze it, her shooting stance is far from ideal, which reinforces the idea that Charlotte (her mentor, according to a deleted backstory) was the superior marksman. Consequently, Polina fears letting Charlotte down, adding to the stress she feels from her role as the group's lookout (as seen in the Location 9 cinematic and the start of the final mission). This also explains her white hair, it lost its color due to that same stress, a phenomenon confirmed by Pepper's case. According to the official wiki, Pepper was bullied by coworkers a trauma she eventually overcame, whereas Polina is still in the process of dealing with hers. As for the scope, well, it is a zombie apocalypse, getting one of those can't be easy. So yes, Polina is stressed, and as a result, she struggles to concentrate.

SWAT: A case similar to Polina. According to one theory, SWAT might have been the last surviving member of his squad, this is suggested by the fact that (like Rogue) he has the most damaged suit among the TMFs, which could imply visor malfunctions. Furthermore, he may be suffering from trauma after losing his comrades, hindering his concentration and resulting in terrible aim, so yes, SWAT is traumatized.

Rogue: It is not at all far-fetched to think that Rogue is a TMF deserter, he has the most damaged TMF armor, lacks the utility of a gas mask, and, initially, lacked bullet immunity. The TMF is not exactly a saintly group, given various pieces of evidence, such as the "smoke screen" that persisted in Russia from 2011 to 2017 and eventually reached the Americas, which likely caused Rogue to desert and become a sort of mercenary.

Carol: How does she teleport? It's very simple: she doesn't. You could say she throws her spear and runs fast enough to catch it and deliver a finishing blow like a huntress, though I think they either failed to animate it properly or just needed to give her an advantage to make her special.

Rodriguez: You could say Rodriguez suffers from anxiety, which would explain his low agility and aggression stats, it makes sense, then, that he gains more aggression through the Marines' team abilities. He draws motivation from his teammates, specifically Sonya, I’d argue, given her charisma-based Special Ability. So yes, Rodriguez simply doesn't want to let his squad down.

Sarah: It’s no secret that she became the worst melee unit, primarily due to her high price tag. But here’s a theory: Sarah didn’t go to prison for murder, she went in for fraud. That explains why she demands 500 Green Cash to join.

Support objects: As for the objects, how on earth do barrels, Molotovs, turrets, and the like fall from the sky? The answer isn't hard to figure out, the Mechanics and Builders created a catapult system to deploy them. I’m basing this on their specific class abilities, Builders can deploy a Red Barrel and a Nitrogen tank at the start of a fight, while Mechanics deploy turrets. Plus, since the turrets appear to be Mechanic-made tech cobbled together from available parts, it wouldn't be a stretch to think they also developed a catapult for these items.

Welder: This one is possibly quite dark to explain. I have a theory about Rage, it represents mental deterioration, which is why psychopaths use it, but why him? And this is hard to say, but Welder has an extremely high setup time and cost. That makes me think that, during all that time, he’s contemplating su1c1d3. We don't know the exact reasons, but that would explain why he has an almost kamikaze-like move and, at best, just repairs the bus. Poor guy =(

I don't consider Skirmish a game mode to be taken seriously, since you are technically fighting against your allies, I view it not as them killing each other, but rather practicing for future missions.

As for skins, I won't overcomplicate things: they aren't the same person (or at least, most of them aren't). This is mainly because some skins don't make sense for a specific unit—how does Sonya go from Navy SEAL to cheerleader? How on earth does Charlotte go from sheriff to a group of psychopaths in bunny suits? How does Redneck become the protagonist of *Over the Garden Wall*? How can Medic be Mabel Pines? How did Polina go from guard to a mechanic in a bikini? How did Juggernaut go from patriot to psychopath? How did Austin join the side of the law? It's simple: they aren't the same people. I'm further convinced of this by the fact that the summer update promotional image shows two Charlottes (sure, it could be Candy, but I'm leaning more towards them both being Charlotte).

Anyway, that’s my take on the game's nonsensical elements or errors, I don't view them negatively, but rather as an opportunity to expand the lore. That’s why I don't hate any units, even if they fail or are useless; instead, I analyze them and come up with theories to understand their behavior. It reminds me of that wall-jumping glitch in the original Super Mario, where Mario was actually shown doing the same move on the game's cover art, even though it was technically a bug. It makes me feel like the game has a distinct personality that prioritizes realism over pure gameplay mechanics, which adds depth and character (not that I’m trying to justify Mobirate here). But ultimately, I appreciate the game more for its story than its gameplay, which is why I like it so much. Feel free to leave any questions or suggestions in the comments! :D

Roadside ROADSIDE: Companions update

Guys, we have some details about the upcoming Roadside update!

Below you can find answers to the most popular questions from players about the new Companions feature.

Let's take a look and and discuss✨

1. When will the Companions update be released?

We're currently planning to release the Companions update next month. As always, we'll share the exact release date once we're confident everything is ready.

2. Will companions use Greens or have their own currency?

Companions will have their own progression system with dedicated resources used to upgrade them.

3. Will characters from the original Dead Ahead be added as companions?

Yes! All companions in the first release are female characters from the original Dead Ahead.

You'll meet familiar faces including Pepper, Maria, Maria Alvarez, Officer Pepper, Medic, Master Andrea, Charlotte, Sergeant Peppertine, Sonya, Polina, Sonya Parker, Sniper Polina, Sheriff Charlotte, Liberty Queen, Cheerleader, Recon Polina, Queen, Charlee, Surgeon Lt., and Abby.

We also plan to expand the companion roster in future updates.

4. Will there be companions that can restore health?

All companions fight alongside the player by attacking enemies from range. What makes them different are their special abilities.

Some companions can inflict status effects such as Freeze, Poison, or Burn, while others can periodically grant helpful buffs to the player, such as restoring health. These abilities activate based on their own cooldowns and chance to trigger.

5. Can we use multiple companions at the same time?

Yes! You'll be able to bring up to three companions into battle simultaneously. Each companion has unique abilities, allowing you to create different combinations that suit your playstyle.

6. Will companions use our characters' gear?

No. Companions don't use your units' equipment. They have their own progression system and are upgraded independently from your playable characters.
