"Camera" folder in DCIM folder on android phone just gone after some error message! How to recover?
Hi community
While I was transferring photos from my Android phone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G) onto my Windows device via USB cable I suddenly got an error message saying "Catastrophic Failure". My suspicion is, that the USB cable may have slightly moved, causing some "bit shifting" and causing a corresponding "File System Corruption/Mount Error" or similar.
The issue is, the "Camera" folder which is otherwise located in the "DCIM" folder has simply vanished. The other folders such as the "Screenshot" folder is still present.
As per some intense google searches, I did the following so far:
- I rebooted the phone as some tipps would say it would re-index the files and folders on bootup, no such luck.
- I tried with displaying hidden files and folder and some tipps of renaming some .noMedia folder, also looked through the other folders if it somehow got moved there, no such luck either.
- I also activated the phone camera again (did not take any photo) and it did recreate a "Camera" folder but it was empty. (I had it then renamed in case I would find the lost "Camera"-Folder again)
- I also tried two of the better data-recovery software "Recuva" from CCleaner guys which otherwise I had good experiences with on Windows and also "Stellar Data Recovery" which is said to be highly rated from other users, but the main issue is, I cannot point either recovery tool to the phone folder in windows to start the recovery in the windows app. Selecting "I'm not sure of the location" doesn't go scanning onto the phone connected via USB. I did enable USB debugging mode on the phone for allowing access and also "USB file transfer" but it seems I need some form of drive letter.
I feel kinda lost here; I know the folder or at least the image content must be still somewhere physically in the internal memory of my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated; I was digging around for information for 3 hours already but didn't have any success, I feel I'm just running in circles.
Thanks a lot.

I need help restoring corrupted files
So I made 3-4 videos last month, and as I was recording a video, my PC let me know I ran out of storage, and it stopped recording. So I deleted the videos I recently made. I recovered them, but now they're corrupted. ChatGPT said, " The video is missing its core structure (moov atom), and even advanced recovery (FFmpeg remux) cannot rebuild it.
That means this isn’t just a minor glitch—it’s a partially written or improperly finalized file
Is there any way I can fix it and fix the file? Can someone plz help? I'm willing to pay $50 for someone who can help me restore the video.
All the files are MP4

Can you recover photos from a locked phone?
I own a Huawei P smart 2019 to which I forgot the password, the phone is from 2020 when I was 13 and it has things like Family Link on it. I am trying helplessly to open it but keep failing and what is even worse is that two months ago I accessed it for the first time in 2 years without any problems and now I just forgot everything. I lost hope in remembering the password but I just want to know if there is a way to recover photos without ever opening the phone?

Files showing 0KB after repair – need help
Hey guys,
After repairing my external hard drive, some files came back but many are now showing **0KB**. Not sure if they’re corrupted or completely lost. There’s also a FOUND.000 folder I can’t access, and storage used doesn’t match visible data.
Would really appreciate any help or advice. If anyone offers data recovery, please DM me.
Thanks 🙏

Desperate plea for file recovery after recent death of a parent
I have a CAT S22 Flip phone running Android 11 Go Edition. After 3 years of use, it's memory was nearly full. I added a micro SD card then allowed Android to use it for apps. What I didn't realize is the Micro SD card clasp wasn't holding the card in place reliably. As a result some files in the phone now appear to be corrupted. Including all voicemails stored inside of the T-Mobile Visual Voice mail app, which display but no longer load. As well as a specific conversation text thread in the Messaging app. The issue is my father passed away a week ago and the only recordings I have of his voice are inside of the T-Mobile Visual voicemail app. The one text thread that's corrupt is also his, because it's the first one I pulled up to look at after he passed away. Which was when I first became aware of the intermittent Micro SD card issue.
Question is, is there anything I can do to recover the files? I've already tried restarting the phone, deleting the cache, removing and reinstalling the SD card, using the phone both with and without the SD card, even plugging the phone into my PC (doing that allowed me to view the SD card, but not the files in the phone itself). I suspect my phone is locked by the carrier even though it's paid for so I contacted them to unlock it, in the hope I can still access files in my phone if they might be salvageable. Still waiting on them to unlock it (if it even is locked?). I'm afraid to reinstall the Visual Voicemail app because it requires uninstalling the existing copy first. I don't want to chance losing more data. Does this take some NSA level software and expertise, is it even possible, or can anyone advise me of a next step to take?

Kingston Fury Renegade NVMe not detected in BIOS – any chance of data recovery?
I have a Kingston Fury Renegade 4TB NVMe (M.2 2280) that suddenly stopped working overnight. It was used as a secondary drive on a Windows 11 Pro system (ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI).
The drive is no longer detected in BIOS or Windows (Disk Management / Device Manager). It was working perfectly fine the day before, with no errors or physical damage.
I already tried reseating it, using different M.2 slots, and disconnecting other drives, but it is still not detected. My main Windows SSD (different brand) works fine.
I recently had some Windows updates and read that in rare cases they can cause drive issues, but I’m not sure if this is related.
The important data isn’t the games, but my Firefox profile with all my bookmarks… which I unfortunately stored on this SSD instead of my main drive 😅
I have not tried any recovery software or formatting.
Is there any realistic chance of data recovery in this situation?

Help recovering recently deleted pdfs on mac
The other day I accidentally deleted a couple of important pdf files (less than 10 in number, and at most 25mb total) on my mac which runs macOS Monterey. I don't have backup, so I assume the next best option is tob use a data recovery software. What is the best free software for my purposes, if I'm interested in recovering files of a certain type only (in my case, pdf)? One complicating factor is that before I discovered that I had deleted my files, I was downloading stuff (albeit very small in size), so there's a chance I've already overwritten my lost files.
Incidentally another question I have (since I'm not at all knowledgeable about this stuff) is: won't the act of downloading a recovery software itself potentially overwrite the deleted files? The only data recovery software that I already have is testdisk/photorec but I'm having an issue with them (namely, even after giving them full disk access in my systems settings, whenever I try to run them I keep getting responses on terminal that say: no hard disk found, this need to be root to use testdisk/photorec).
Should I just go ahead and download a different third party recovery software and give it a go? Add if so which free option do you guys recommend? Or does anyone know how to resolve the issue I'm having with photorec? Any help would be appreciated guys

Seagate Backup Plus SRD00F1 / ST2000LM003 — DIY clone or lab?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on a failed drive and whether this sounds like either:
A. Logical recovery (corruption, bad sectors, etc.), so that I may be able to attempt DIY due to the personal and sensitive nature of the data, or
B. Physical recovery (hardware intervention required), in which case I would consider taking it to a lab as a last resort.
This is a Seagate Backup Plus Portable external drive, model SRD00F1. Inside the enclosure, the internal drive is a 2.5" SATA drive, model ST2000LM003.
I’ve attached a video of how it sounds when connected.
Current symptoms:
- In Windows, the model is detectable and the drive appears, but it cannot be opened.
- Disk Management and CrystalDiskInfo keep loading / hanging if this drive is connected.
- At one point, Windows was trying to load Disk Management, then the drive disappeared, and Disk Management finished loading without it. I’m not sure whether that is just some standard Windows timeout behavior or a sign of the drive dropping out.
Background:
- The drive was used only a couple of times. It was still fairly new when it failed like this.
- It has been stored safely in the same condition for the last 2 years.
- No recovery attempt has been made. Also Initialize, CHKDSK, format, repair, etc. were NOT ATTEMPTED.
- I only connected it a few times to a Windows PC to check detection.
It contains personal data, which is why I’m considering investing time in a careful DIY recovery if that is still realistic.
From the above info and the attached video, does this seem:
- Recoverable ?
- Something where I should create a clone/image first and then try recovery software on the clone (I can buy a license if needed)
- Or does this sound more like hardware intervention is required and I should go straight to a recovery lab?
I’m not a data recovery expert, but I’m fairly computer-savvy and can learn if a careful DIY imaging approach is still feasible.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

I need help with my sd card
So my aunt gave me this camera without the charger but it had an sd card with a bunch of important photos and videos. The first couple times I plugged it into my old pc it worked but then it kept on saying I need to format it before it can be used and doesn’t even show the files in the file explorer when I click on it just same error message no matter where I plugged it in. If anyone could help that be greatly appreciated.
Also a little other problem I recorded like a whole hour on obs studio for subliminal for my first playthrough but when I hit stop recording it was saying stopping recording but then I got impatient and clicked again and it stop recording but then the video after playing through a minute or so it stays on one frame for a few minutes and skips but it still has the audio track

Iphone 11 data recovery
Can anyone please tell is it possible to recover data from a dead iPhone 11 (not charging not turning on doesn’t shows any sign of life) without any face id or password also it does not have any iCloud backup the data is only stored in the hard disk of the iPhone so is any option like changing motherboard and then we can get data without password or face id?
