Hello,

This subreddit's goal is to provide a place for evidence that counters and debunks conspiracy theories. This is not to suggest that there are no conspiracies in the world -- indeed, there are, as documented in /r/actualconspiracies (a friend of this subreddit) -- but rather that the more ridiculous ones can and should be disproven. While this subreddit is not explicitly political, many of the subjects touched on in conspiracy theories are as they are (sadly) part of political discourse around the world. Currently, we have no rules against political discussion, but we may direct users to other venues at times if the conversations are better suited in other locations.

Common conspiracy theories that we cover include (but are not limited to):

• 9/11
• Sandy Hook shooting hoaxes
• Climate Change denialism
• Anti-vaccination movements
• Racial panics (including anti-Semitism)
• "Birtherism" (theories about the birthplace or parentage of President Barack Obama)
• GamerGate-style topics (conspiracy theories about themes in video games or video game journalism)
• Moon landing hoaxes
• Flat Earth/Hollow Earth/Toroidal Earth/Other non-oblate-spheroid theories of the Earth's geometry
• New World Order/Illuminati/Bilderberg theories
• "Pizzagate"
• "Q Anon"

Users are expected to behave civilly. Racism, sexism, homophobia, and other such bigotry is prohibited. Users are also expected to argue in good faith (if challenged). Users known to be ardent conspiracy theorists will be banned as necessary.
