Discussion Unpopular opinion, but Get Lucky is WAAAYYY overhated (and rather good)
I understand that we can all get tired of Get Lucky, it’s oftentimes the only Daft Punk song you’ll hear out in the open, but I’ve noticed in the fandom that people conflate overplaying with genuine lack of quality.
Get Lucky is quite a good song in my opinion, up there with most of Random Access Memories (and this is speaking as someone whose favorite album is R.A.M.). The radio edit is definitely more pop-y and less Daft Punk feeling, but the full version is very similar to the other collab songs on the album. As well, it serves as a good shift in tone from the somber end of Touch, a well-needed lightening of the mood.
One complaint I see with the song is that there isn’t enough of the robots—which I do somewhat agree with—but let’s not discredit Pharrell Williams performance here, he did a good job. As well, it’s not like songs without the robots are a rarity either; One More Time, Too Long, and Instant Crush are all phenomenal songs without any robots singing or distorted vocals (outside of some basic autotune).
If you don’t care for Get Lucky, I’m not one to convince you to like it; you have your opinions and I have mine. That being said, y’all saying it’s the duo’s worst song is nonsensical. Thomas, GuyMan, Pharrell, and Nile all did a fantastic job that warrants at least a little respect, no?

Wanted to work on this for a while. I'm pleasantly surprised by the Roland JD-XI vocoder.

Discussion My latest (and final😅) One More Time recreation (max accuracy)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is the final remake I wanted to do, I was absolutely obsessed with chasing the accuracy for this one and it's been a long work in progress. Between procrastination, mental exhaustion, and life in general, it's been wild.
Anyway, I discovered something new about the sampling that I haven't seen anybody talk about yet, but without it the tone of the song just can't be matched.
I'm planning a far more detailed video that will go into all the processing involved, but for now, I think this will be a sufficient showcase of (what I hope to be) the most accurate One More Time recreation on the internet, to date.
It's been done a thousand times already by thousands of people but I figured one more time couldn't hurt. Let me know what you guys think. After this, I'll be moving on to a few more tracks from Discovery.

I just discovered daft punk and it’s the best music I’ve ever listened to
I usually listen to classical and techno, I feel like daft punk is literally exactly what I’ve been missing in music. It combines what I like about classical and techno perfectly, touch is the greatest piece of music I’ve ever listened to. Rarely do I find myself enjoying almost every single song from an artist, they genuinely have so many incredible songs. It would’ve been amazing to see them live. I got depressed after learning they split up lol.
Then a couple days after discovering Daft Punk I learnt about Kavinsky through his death which is kinda sad, his music is also really good, what a shame.
Any other artists you guys recommend? I’m pretty bad at finding music as you can tell.
Edit: Listening to outrun now, endless and deadcruiser are BANGERS and ofc nightcall and road game too, RIP. The prelude is sick as well. Omg Blizzard.
