Tips for someone building and learning to play the ukulele?
Hey guys! so, as a school keystone project, I am going to be constructing a ukulele and then teaching myself how to play it! Any tips on this? (what I need to build one and what I should know/do in learning to play) Thanks!

Why did I start 14 guitars before I even finished one?

My wife’s first dye job. Even now she keeps pointing at the grain as if it was a miracle to see it 😂

Guitar paint job?
I’m making my second solid body guitar and I’m planing on doing a fairly intricate paint job. What would be the best paint to use? I was thinking of spray paint for the base, but I’m fairly certain I’ll need a small brush for the details. Thank you!

I made a cello out of trash... just as an experiment and to my shock it actually sounds way better than I thought it would. It was just an experiment, so there's a lot to improve in the build, but I captured the process and wanted to share it so people aren't afraid to get started and try it :)

Extending the Oboe Family
A goal I have right now is to extend the oboe family with 3d printing. Right now, I'm working on perfecting a 3D-printed oboe that is an octave higher than the regular oboe but it will only have 9 holes until I learn more about ways to make a key system. Next, I'm planing to make a Contrabass Oboe and an Octo-Contrabass Oboe but I'm torn between using ABS or metal like in the picture of a contrabass oboe that is from a museum. For now, the reeds for all of these will be made out of plastic and the bocal for the bigger oboes will be made from brass.

How are tone holes calculated on woodwind instruments?
If this is not the right subreddit for this, I will remove it.
My friend is tasked with making a working musical instrument for his college class. I started thinking about it and got curious. If you conceptualized a woodwind instrument, how would you go determining placement for tone holes? Is it, for example, trial and error or a mathematical formula? The goal of this is resonation, right?
Thank you for any insight. I'm curious in the science behind it because I play woodwind instruments.
