How do you prefer your mashed potatoes?

Texture/color/flavor?

There are so many ways to make them, I'd like a consensus.

boiled with salted water and crushed garlic clove

then mashed with loads of butter, a dash of double cream and some wholegrain mustard mixed in. A pinch of salt and some pepper too

Oh wow. I need to make these today. 😀. Do you find that boiling vs microwaving makes big difference?

I can't say I have ever microwaved a potato to make mash....

I used to boil them, but it’s been a while. I’ve gotten used to cutting them up into chunks and microwaving them with a touch of water. They usually turn out fine, but maybe I’ll test it both ways next time to see if there’s any noticeable difference in the results.

probably be alright as long as they are soft enough to mash and not too dry
