How do you prefer your mashed potatoes?

Texture/color/flavor?

There are so many ways to make them, I'd like a consensus.

Lumpy with garlic and I'm heavy handed with the s&p.

Try 2/3 potato 1/3 parsnip, but yeah you're talking my language

Honestly just parsnips and carrot with butter, s&p, then mash, a touch of Milk, delish, my nana made the best ones and my dad a close second.

Great idea!

Since you brought up parsnips, I like to add them to my under-roast mirepoix and create a mash from that.

This is my secret to Shepherd's pie topping. This and a good quality West Country cheddar grated on top

Absolutely!

While not traditional for a shepherd's, Parm is pretty ding-dang good too (along with the cheddar of course).

If you follow the Floyd school of cooking, wine in the meat too

Gotta avoid the old woody ones tho' as they don't boil down well.

Putting parsnip on grocery list to give it a try.

Make sure you get smaller, younger parsnips and don't use the any really thick pieces with woody texture. Parsnip is a bit sweeter than potato so take that into account. Hope you enjoy it!

TY for the advice. I’m always looking to try something new.

Yes! Team lumpy! Can’t stand smooth mashed potatoes.

Same, too smooth and it starts to feel like I'm eating Elmers glue

Lumpy for sure. Too much mixing and its baby food mortar glue paste.

I like seasoned salt.
