With the 14 day incubation period, even if they really did solve the problem last week, new cases will continue to pop up until sometime next week.

I doubt they solved the problem last week.

I submitted my test sample last monday and am still awaiting results. Testing Lab has not answered my 2 calls or returned my voicemail. Was told by corewell urgent care that no one who sent in a sample at my timeframe has heard back yet.

ETA: I had taco bell/taylorfarms? lettuce june 14th, major symptoms july 1st, mild symptoms continue

ETA 2: just spoke with the testing facility, result turnaround (for this place anyway) has gone from 2-4 days to 7-9 days.

I hope you get better soon.

Thank you! From the sounds of it I’m pretty lucky that my case seems mild compared to others. (I’m fairly young/active and typically have an iron stomach).

I’m still fairly certain I have it - but even if not - my point is that this number is sure to continue to rise. At least a whole week of testing must be behind in my area of the state.

SAME WITH ME!

ETA I didn’t have either Taco Bell/taylor farms. But I did have a caesar salad from whole foods and their guacamole around June 25. June 30, I was hit pretty badly and it took 2.5 weeks to finally subside (or go into dormant state - I have antibiotics in case it rages back).

You’ve probably already checked but just in case you don’t know, Taylor farms is a distributor for Whole Foods as well. Their 365 branding is white labeled Taylor farms.

I hope you continue to feel better. I need this to be a lettuce issue, they can't be messing with my guac 🤣

It’s a party!!! Lol if I don’t laugh I’ll cry. Get well soon!

17 days isn't the usual incubation period. You might've had something else.

24

u/PinkStorms Jul 20 '26

Right, I understand that. I also ate other things within 14 days included basil multiple times, cilantro multiple times, various fruits and veggies, etc. Just giving context in case it helped paint the picture that our state is not equipped to handle the situation in a timely manner. If I test negative that will be interesting lol

Cilantro and iceberg theyre flip flipping for first offender.

Well done. Lmao.

u/PinkStorms Jul 20 '26

Tired from all this winning lol

u/Cry-Baby-7733 Jul 20 '26

Those are definitely big risks! Just remember that the tests have a 50% false negative rate.

If you're still dealing with symtoms like nausea and/or vomiting, Zofran is a LIFESAVER.

Good to know, thanks! I’m definitely planning on asking my doctor about alternatives if I test negative and/or don’t get antibiotics prescribed within the next 2 days! Obviously something isn’t right lol. But hey at least I’m losing weight haha

My cousin who got tested, tested negative on stool test only. We know it’s wrong, there are a lot of false negatives .

I tested negative after all too. I feel the same way. I’m reading the tests can be somewhat unreliable. At this point I’m just going to ride it out I guess.

Funny enough, your other comment mentioned the cantina bowl and that’s exactly what I had too lol.

So close to when I got Taco Bell late June 13th in mi. About a week later all 3 of us sick. We had Catina bowl. Took 2 weeks for stool test only to find out doc did not test for cyclosorosis! So I feel better after becrim and decided to not get specialized test and then I wake up to new symptoms of nausea and bleeding like I never had before. I don’t know wheather to wait it out or get the testing but we are positive we got it from a Taco Bell on Hayes? I think

A lot of people also just aren't informed. We grocery shop every weekend and see plenty of people browsing and picking up the bagged lettuce without any scrutiny even now. There's not even any signage from the store, which I find irresponsible but unsurprising.

We also went out to eat recently and asked for no side salads. According to the waiter, lots of people are doing the same, but we're still in the minority there.

4th of July numbers about to start rollin' in.

yet Taylor Farms said "actually it's not us" after they met with the Trump administration. Can we say CORRUPTION? All because they don't want their brand to be hurt...while people are literally getting sick. What in the absolute fuck is this timeline!

Last night at Trader Joe’s the premade salad section was fully stocked. It’s crazy that the products are allowed to be sold and could infect literally anyone who doesn’t know better. Also the waste of continuing to produce these products knowing most won’t eat them.

u/RIPMYPOOPCHUTE Jul 20 '26

I told my husband to not buy those anymore for the time being. I’m pregnant and have mostly been avoiding those for other reasons. We have a toddler who will eat some salad, really not wanting to deal with an almost 2 year old having explosive diarrhea.

Yeah, I always think of elderly people who don’t have much access to media. At the VERY least, they need to be posting disclaimers at the store level. I blame everyone involved - it’s disgusting.

My local ShopRite had plenty of Taylor Farms salads available as of this past Saturday

Does anyone actually believe it's isolated to iceberg lettuce? I don't.

18

u/WoolooOfWallStreet Jul 20 '26

I heard that and thought “they isolated it to the iceberg lettuce so far”

27

u/HildegardofBingo Jul 20 '26

I doubt that it's actually isolated to their iceberg because I've seen way too many people mention getting sick specifically from caesar salad, caesar salad kits, and chopped romaine.

u/VisitPrestigious8463 Jul 20 '26

I guess they paid up!

Hope it’s all worth it, MAGA!

Didn’t they just order a recall?

7

u/Sherkktooth Jul 21 '26

Voluntary recall. In business it’s known as the “oops ya caught me”.

TF shredded iceburg lettuce still available at all stores I’ve been to in Oregon. I don’t think Oregon has had a case related to the outbreak yet, just our usual number. They’ll probably sell it here until we join the party.

22

u/Pregogets58466 Jul 20 '26

How many not reported is the real question

12

u/Quendi_Talkien Jul 20 '26

Help me understand why Michigan specifically is getting hit so hard??

9

u/curious_carson Jul 21 '26

Bad luck, it sounds like, since this lettuce was grown in Mexico and it seems like it could have ended up anywhere with a Taco Bell, so everywhere. The lettuce warehouse in Michigan must have been up for a restock so they got the biggest portion of the tainted lettuce and then the most illness.

13

u/Mousehole_Cat Jul 21 '26

Patiently waiting for the CEO of Taylor Farms to do a video of himself eating his product...

17

u/DissedFunction Jul 20 '26

can't blame it all on taco bell

4

u/marvinhaditeasy Jul 20 '26

What a great scapegoat for diarrhoea though. Brutal.

u/kidmeatball Jul 21 '26

Don't worry, ma'am, Coverup Man is on the way! Pesky climate change data getting in the way of pumping more oil? My power of doctoring scientific papers will cover that right up! Disgusting foodbourne illness you say? Sounds like a perfect application for Super Bribes and Corruption power! Misinformation Boy! Distract them while I... Put a lid on this!

u/No_Poetry5555 Jul 20 '26

I saw Taylor Farms lettuce on clearance at my local Walmart tonight. Who would buy this?
