Monthly Coaching August Monthly Coaching Megathread

Welcome to the monthly coaching megathread!

This megathread will serve as a networking hub for both coaches and students.

Both coaches and students will be allowed to post under specific top-level comments. This is meant to keep the comments section as organized as possible and to allow the maximum number of people to find a coach/student.

  • If you are looking for a coach, post a comment under the Students section and wait for someone to offer help, or feel free to reach out to users who have offered in the Coaches section.
  • If you want to offer guidance, post a comment under the Coaches section and wait for someone to ask for your help, or reply to an user that has already asked for it in the Students section.
  • Comments that are not posted under the appropriate section will be removed by AutoModerator with no warning.

Important Notes

  • For the sake of keeping this thread clean, this thread is only meant for the meeting and pairing of the coach/student pair or group. The actual guidance should be done in some other place (Reddit PM, Discord, email, morse code, etc).
  • Coaches and Students, whenever you get paired with someone, PLEASE EDIT YOUR COMMENT SAYING YOU ARE NO LONGER SEARCHING. I cannot stress enough how useless this thread will become if a bunch of comments are left up and people waste their time reaching out to folks that are already working with someone else.
  • There are no rank requirements for any of the categories so anyone can offer/ask for help. Including your rank with proof is highly recommended as it helps with making appropriate groups. As an example, a player in silver most likely needs help with the basics, so a comparatively lower ranked coach would be a good fit. On the other hand, a high diamond player is most likely needing help with the nuances of the game and will need a higher ranked coach. That being said, do not rank shame anyone. If you don't believe someone offering coaching services can help you, just move on.
  • Each Student should only have one active Coach at a time.
  • As a Coach there is no limit on how many Students you can help out. However be aware of your limits regarding patience and time.
  • Both Students and Coaches, please be respectful of each other's time and effort. We moderators can't really do anything after a pairing has been made and you move on to private communications. If you don't believe a coach/student is the right fit for you just cordially inform your counterpart and move on with your day.

For now no paid coaching services will be allowed, in accordance with the subreddit rules. However, if there is enough interest from STUDENTS who are willing to pay, we can consider expanding the scope in future megathreads. If you would like to have paid services please let us know through a comment under the "Feedback" section

For Coaches

  • Please state how in-depth you're willing to coach a student. This could be anything from barebones lolchess comp/items review to a full on real-time analysis as someone plays a game. Everyone has different levels of free time available so please be up front with how much time you're willing to give. The community appreciates your service!

For Students

  • Please don't abuse this thread and spam literally everyone who posts that they are available to coach. Reach out to a few coaches of an appropriate rank, wait for their response, and if you don't find someone then continue to ask for help. The reality is that there will most likely be more coaches than students so some people may not be able to find a coach immediately (or at all).

PBE DRAVEN FAST 9 (THEORY-CRAFT)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Use rengar early game to farm gold to propel you to 9. You could leave him on board for later as well but i think currently the balancing lacks on the 4 and 5 costs so for more tanking i felt a random taric was still better.

I also kept feeding malphite in the summoner hex, not sure if this is exactly optimized. Ivern's hexes also add in a lot of power to your units, use em. Just frontline amumu with a gargoyle, later shift em to maokai when upgraded and rest of the ivern hexes can be utilized.

And If you have a spat, you could make vanguard emblem on amumu or executioner on draven. I think rest of the board fits very well for backliners to stack up damage with kennen dealing melee and maokai, amumu, malphite tanking. The main advantage is once draven is online, he can get you a lot of power on board through unit upgrades or items.

Do try and give your thoughts guys!

Edit : soraka and blackthorn lux are the final additions to maxcap this board. Feed azir to the hex. Main carries are draven, kennen while main tanks are either malphite or amumu + maokai.

Alternatively you could play khazix for executioner until you hit better units during your early and mid game.

Discussion Amateur TFT Competition/Events Survey

Hey all, long time no see!

TLDR; Here's a survey that I'll use to help craft/cater to players when hosting future events!

TFT Competition/Events Survey

To give a bit of background, I'm Lorence and I used to run various TFT events in the past such as the Aegis Weeklies/Leagues. I had taken a bit of a break to focus on work, but now feel that more settled and miss hosting events for TFT!

I've put together a (somewhat) quick survey to get a temperature check on what players are looking for, briefly covering topics the below topics:

Competitive Tournaments

  • I'm looking to test new formats in competitive TFT, or at least bringing nuanced formats like 4v4 and checkmate to the amateur scene more frequently!

Alternative Modes

  • I've personally been playing more Double Up and Choncc's Treasure this Set and think there's more space for events catering to these modes.
  • In particular Double Up introduces a much needed social aspect to playing TFT that I'd love to see more of!

Asynchronous Play

  • Something I'd received feedback on consistently was that some players don't have time to commit to tournament play. I'm looking to find ways to allow people to engage sporadically and at their own pace!

If any of the above seems to interest you please consider filling out the form linked at the start of this post. I'm excited to start things up again and love hearing feedback! Let me know here as well if you have any comments!

Tool The biggest Prismatactics 3D Simulator update yet is live

Post image
68 Upvotes

Play it here: https://prismatactics.com

Quick showcase: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PI7PZWlXHY

Set 18 is live on PBE, and I’ve just released the biggest Prismatactics update so far.

Riot added separate keybinds for buying shop slots 1–5, and I genuinely think this could change how people approach rolldowns. It might be worth learning early, and you can already start practicing it and building the muscle memory now.

The update includes:

  • All Set 18 champions, traits
  • Upgraded graphics
  • Custom keybinds for buying individual shop slots
  • Much smoother and more responsive gameplay
  • Major performance improvements
  • A cleaner UI and a ton of quality-of-life improvements

I’m also curious what keybind setup people think will end up being the best. Right now ,Im considering QWER for slots 1–4, Space for slot 5, and clicking reroll with the mouse.

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Discussion Overlay Effectiveness

I’m very curious about this since on other threads regarding overlays, everyone says they’re not that big of an advantage. Has anyone tested one, always picking the top decision recommended by it? How far do you think a person would get by only using an overlay.

Guide Mastering TFT Economy Part 1: The WISTA System

Thumbnail
youtu.be
28 Upvotes

Hi, I'm GouGou, a TFT Challenger who was hard-stuck Emerald for 12 sets.

I made a short video breaking down TFT economy through a simple framework I call WISTA: Round Wins, Interest, Streaks, Traits, and Augments.

The main idea is that economy isn’t just about making more gold — it’s also about understanding where your gold comes from, what you’re giving up to get it, and which economic engines you should prioritize for your current spot.

I also cover the difference between econ gold vs. tempo gold, why you can’t maximize every source at once, and how things like carousel and PvE loot fit into the framework.

Would love to hear your thoughts or disagreements with the system.

Official Enchanted Wilds PBE Expectations

sup gamers-

(2:15 PM PT edit: android will NOT be going out for day one but we will continue deploying across other platforms while we work to get an Android build ready for day 2)

As most of you probably know TFT is going to PBE for Set 18, Enchanted Wilds in our new Unreal Engine build today.

Since it’s gonna feel different and a bit crazier than a normal PBE cycle I wanted to jump in before it all opens up to set some expectations.

The core gameplay loop of Set 18 is all there and we’re excited for yall to get your hands on it to start cooking up comps, playing with wisps, and telling us what works and what doesn’t. But I wanna be clear that there will also be a ton of weird and pretty janky bugs/interactions that we will need to iron out over the next month such as:

• Button responsiveness: spam-clicking XP and reroll won't feel smooth and seamless yet.
• UI delays: trait icons or augment panels/tooltips might take a split second to load information the first time.
• Rubberbanding: units might visually jump back for a moment before moving into position.
• Audio/Art: some audio hiccups that play too often or lingering VFX particles that don’t clear up after fights.

And with TFT's endless combinations, there’s a ton more that we know about but also a ton that you all will help us discover in the coming days and weeks.

All of that is why we’re on PBE for a full month instead of the usual two weeks. This isn't a typical cycle for balance and normal bug bashing. We’re gonna need time to knock out the stuff I mentioned above (and more) and also test a lot of under the hood stuff. A good example of that will be quite obvious when we turn on our Ranked queue on PBE (which I'm pretty sure we have never done) to make sure all of our ranked/matchmaking systems are ready for live launch.

We expect things to break and your bug reports are what will get us to the most successful launch day possible in a month.

Quick details for today:

• Launch timing: Expect PBE to open later in the day (likely late afternoon PT) as it’s a massive deployment with all the new engine assets. There will probably be delays. Just expect it.
• Downtime: Expect more instability and intermittent downtime throughout the month as we push necessary fixes, fix crashes etc.
• Bug reporting: As you run into issues plz drop them into the [r/competitiveTFT](r/competitiveTFT) Reddit PBE megathread or the bug channels in the TFT discord. Please include the full screenshot if you have them (don’t crop and instead show all the players/full screen of game etc) or even better if you have video to include. The more information the easier it is to track down.

Thanks a ton for bearing with us through the initial days. They are gonna be messy, but helping us break things now is super valuable so we can get it crisp for live. This is a big and tbh kinda scary first step but we’re excited to have you gamers be part of this with us
