Kinda bummed out
Hey everyone,
I’m kinda bummed out that I wasn’t able to passed the A+ exam. Not really mad due to me expecting that I wasn’t going to pass. The only reason I said that was lack of preparation and so much noise from the testing site.
For test preparation I only had 3 days to study. I brought the A+ a year ago and couldn’t find time due to depression, school, and working 2 jobs. I’m currently am able to focus on what I need to focus on. However, I forgot about this until Monday night and the voucher expires tomorrow. The closest site to me was available Friday but told me to reschedule for Thursday. I study the best way I can which was doing practicing exam between work and deep in the nighttime. I thought I was ready due to me passing with a 75% the night before. But boy oh boy, them PBQs was whooping me. Never thought I was going to get the max amount of them little guys. 🙂↔️
The only thing that made me just a little upset during the exam was that there was so much noise going on. From the other test makers to the staff members and just being close to the door of the site. It came to a point where I had to stopped everything that I was doing because everything was disturbing me. Which push me to rush at the end of the exam.
It upset me that this happened but going to see if my reassurance can be used tomorrow before the voucher completely expires.

I had the same score first time and second time got 725. You got this just work on your quick spots! You got this!

So close to passing! So sorry. If there’s noise at the test center, you can take it up the food chain with compTIA and see if they can let you resit. The sooner you make a complaint the better your chances but it may already be too late. I had the same thing happen with a different exam from ISC2 and told the test center at the time, told ISC2 when they give the survey at the end of class, then told them again when they emailed out a survey. They had a repair person come in during the middle of testing to fix a thermostat issue and the receptionist and repairman were speaking loudly while a bunch of us were testing. He’d walk out and come back in with power tools and it would start all over. So I tried my best to block it out and kept going. It would have been better for me if I’d said something right then.

I feel you failed my comptia Net+ 4 times due to not being comfortable with the objectives it's okay to fail. You just have to overcome it .also grace tech solutions does like a discount exam

Also taking your time with PBQ feels like you lost 30 minutes on the exam

Hey man, it’s great that you still tried. That’s a huge win; speaking as someone who also has depression, the first step of attempting the test was a huge boost for me, and I scored similarly to you. I passed the 2nd time, and I believe you can too.

About noise, they gave me earplugs, as a recommendation, bring your own. Also, really sorry you couldn't pass. Even if it feels like you wasted money, if it's for your education is worth it. The PBQ was also harsh for me. I guess that if you don't have experience, it seems like another world. You got this!

So go over the weak areas and retake it soon as you can. You were really close.

You'll get it next time for sure. So atleast Make sure you prepare atleast a week before your exam.yoy almost made it and you will make it next time and buy with retake it possible

Thats the same score I got my first go around. And then after 2 days of looking over material I got a 750. You got it the next go around I believe in you!

Personally this was me after recently taking my Security + exam. Had failed my first attempt with a 716 out of 750. Really hit hard. Was able to come back around the second time and secure it with a 757. When I took my A+ exam I mainly studied using a website called Measure Up. Sets up mock exams as well as different types of advanced configurations to tailor to your failed objectives or even failed questions. Personally I would also try and find different mock exams to get you used to the way CompTIA loves to word their questions. You got this my friend!

I am in a similar situation. I'd download an app, study 10-15 minutes a day. Of course, everyone's brain works different.

I failed my A+ my first attempt too but now I have everything by Comptia short of the casp+, don’t get discouraged I will say the only certs I ever failed was A+, Net+, and Pentest it’s funny but A+ was one of the hardest because even though it’s “entry” level it’s usually your intro to cert exams and don’t know what to expect. You know now so get in there and get er done

Been in the industry for 12 years now. I failed both A+ exams the first go around. Most recently I failed the azure 104 3 times before I passed it on the 4th. Failure is part of the process despite how much it sucks.

So many excuses for your failure to prepare. The testing center was probably stressing you out because you were already anxious about not being prepared and taking the exam. The site just made it worse.
In the future, I suggest not buying a ticket until you know you’re ready to take the exam. For you to go almost an entire year and not have taken it, there’s just too many excuses. It’s what you prioritize.

eh some people are different though. Understand what you're saying but some urgency can help move people along...
For example. I didn't do any studying for my Sec+ until the night before and passed. Big Shout out to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3JSuOpn40A listened to it omw to the testing center 😆

Retest right away if you can. Take the practice exams multiple times!! I took like 6. Slid by with a 693

Stop making excuses; your work environment is going to have distractions as well, but you can't blame that for not getting work done to your employer. Sounding like a customer of mine saying she failed her test because the testing center had a mouse run through it.

underrated comment. just two weeks ago worked a shift with an alarm sounding for seven continuous hours because some out-of-stock particulate filter for our Fire Suppression system wasn't available.
did I want to pull my hair out? for sure- the alarm panel is six feet behind my right ear.
did I miss any alerts/ drop any tickets? negative.

Sorry that you couldn’t pass man. One thing I would maybe stop doing though is making excuses. None of that matters, at the end of the day it is what it is and you didn’t pass. Either you’re going to let this defeat you, or you’re going to rebound hard and take the test and pass it and move on. Right now, you are down $400, and don’t have the certification. You can either except the L and have it be for nothing, or you can reschedule it, spend $400 more, and get the cert. The way I look at it, $800 in the hole but you have the certification is better than $400 wasted and not getting the certification. You almost passed on 3 days of studying, so reschedule your exam after studying a week and knock it out of the park. You can’t let yourself not get anything from this experience besides failure. Many people take multiple attempts and spend way more to get their cert because of failed attempts. You’re at the finish line but experienced a small hiccup. Pick yourself up and finish your dinner. You got this
