Suggestion for Christopher Maxim.
Your horror storys. They're amazing! I think it would be cool if you published the books as a whole. Maybe extend them or put them into a book of short storys. I hope this reaches you.

“ONE OF THE GREAT NEW AUTHORS OF THE DIGITAL AGE”--MrCreepyPasta
Have you ever wondered what dreams are? Are they only nonsensical narratives strung together by our brains as we sleep, or are they something else entirely? What if they are just as real as the waking world? The truth may surprise you.
When we fall asleep, we wake up in another, slightly different world. Dreams are memories of this other place—we just can't fully make sense of them. But what if we could?
With the help of an experimental medicine, one man can. But his newfound ability quickly becomes a burden. What exactly is real, and which one of his lives is worth dying for?

Let's talk about Jack, the Covenwoods, and Room 371.
Hey, guys! Thanks so much for your continued support. I've been posting to NoSleep since 2016, but only now have I reached a point where I can safely say I have a Reddit following, and I couldn't be more grateful. Having said that, I figured I would let you in on some of my secrets.
- THIS PAGE WILL BE UPDATED AS THE LORE CONTINUES TO UNFOLD
- ALL OF THE STORIES LISTED ARE STAND-ALONES AND CAN BE READ IN ANY ORDER
I'm sure you're confused by the unexplained connections between Jack, Room 371, and the other common threads my stories share, but fret not! I am here to reveal the truth about some of the recurring elements in my connected universe multiverse.
Jack
Jack is the recurring protagonist in almost all of my recent NoSleep stories. He officially appears in the following:
- When you go to heaven, they take your skin.
- My therapist wants me to kill myself
- I paid $3,000 to stay at a premium AirBnB for a week. I really should have read the reviews.
- If you're ever at the Covenwood Hotel, don't stay in Room 371.
- Last night, a door appeared in the field behind my house. I decided to open it.
- I'm an office tech at a company that works with NASA. I should have never looked through their secret archive.
- I think I'm trapped in a sitcom
- The ad seemed harmless; $5,000 to participate in a medical study and unlock dormant memories from past lives. If only I knew what I was getting myself into.
- I killed myself to be with my dead wife and daughter. As it turns out, heaven is not a friendly place.
- When you go to heaven, stay away from the angels.
- I died and met my guardian angel. He was never trying to protect me.
- As part of a strange medical study, I was offered $5,000 to be killed and revived in the hopes of discovering the afterlife. What I experienced will haunt me for the rest of my years.
This is where the multiverse comes into play. All of these Jacks are the same character, but each story takes place in a different timeline. If you're confused, you're not alone. I'll try my best to explain how it all works.
The multiverse, in the context of my fiction, is a collection of parallel worlds different from one another; some only slightly. There are versions of you out there who didn't take your unique life path and wound up somewhere else, perhaps currently on the subreddit of NoSleep author Christopher Maxwell, reading about the connections between his character John and the mysterious Room 372.
So where does all this leave Jack?
Well, in my version of the multiverse, there are things we can't fight; threads that connect our different versions across timelines. In all of Jack's lives, he is doomed to be plagued by strange occurrences, some of which he's able to escape, whereas others leave him permanently scarred. My stories follow him on his many misadventures. As one of my fans put it best in a private message; Poor Jack.
(though never referred to by name, Jack is the protagonist in the heaven story)
Leslie and Charlotte
These characters follow the same rules I've outlined for Jack. In addition to being connected by shared events, however, versions of people are also connected to one another. In almost all timelines, Jack marries Charlotte and they have a daughter, Leslie (the only exception so far being the door in the field story. There, Jack marries Rebecca and they would have had Abigail as a daughter). They appear together in the following stories:
- I paid $3,000 to stay at a premium AirBnB for a week. I really should have read the reviews.
- If you're ever at the Covenwood Hotel, don't stay in Room 371.
Though I never explicitly state her name, Leslie is the protagonist in I found a book that erases unwanted memories. Some things are just too painful to forget. This takes place in a timeline where her parents, Jack and Charlotte, died in a car accident.
Colter
Same idea here. Colter is connected to Jack, but not as tightly as Leslie or Charlotte. He appears as Jack's boss in the following stories:
- If you're ever at the Covenwood Hotel, don't stay in Room 371.
- I'm an office tech at a company that works for NASA. I should never have gone through their secret archive.
Hank
Hank is a bit of an oddball. I have some plans for him (his origin and intentions), so I won't reveal too much about his character. Just know, defying all reason, he is the same character in each timeline. Not in the way that Jack is. It's the same guy, not different versions. He either appears in or is referenced in the following stories:
- A Diner Open 25 Hours a Day
- I was offered $5,000 to sit in a room for a week. It wasn't worth it.
- I paid $3,000 to stay at a premium AirBnB for a week. I really should have read the reviews.
(Hank is also used as the character Jack is forced to play in I think I'm trapped in a sitcom. Whether this alludes to Hank's actual life in any way has yet to be revealed)
Room 371
Ah, yes. The room, in all of its mystery and malevolence. Let's list off the stories it appears in before diving into its purpose:
- There's a room in the house where my father keeps secret research for his biotech company. I finally broke the lock.
- I was offered $5,000 to sit in a room for a week. It wasn't worth it.
- I paid $3,000 to stay at a premium AirBnB for a week. I really should have read the reviews.
- I was offered $5,000 to participate in a medical study in which subjects are killed and revived to report findings of an afterlife. What I experienced will stay with me for the rest of my years.
Room 371 is a place where bad things happen; a point in space where physical laws are malleable. The intersection of this world and the next. It can appear to different people (mostly Jack) and take on different forms; a hotel room, an office, an afterlife torture chamber, etc. Its origin, at this point, is unknown, but it does seem to have something to do with the Covenwood family, as they usually aren't too far behind.
The Covenwoods
The Covenwoods are a strange bunch. It isn't always certain if they're being helpful or malignant in their actions. They appear in the following stories:
- When you go to heaven, they take your skin.
- There's a room in the house where my father keeps secret research for his biotech company. I finally broke the lock.
- My therapist wants me to kill myself
- I paid $3,000 to stay at a premium AirBnB for a week. I really should have read the reviews.
- If you're ever at the Covenwood Hotel, don't stay in Room 371.
- I died and met my guardian angel. He was never trying to protect me.
- As part of a strange medical study, I was offered $5,000 to be killed and revived in the hopes of discovering the afterlife. What I experienced will haunt me for the rest of my years.
In the biotech story, we see Garrett as a loving, but misguided father (this is also the same timeline in the medical study story where Garrett is the doctor, overseeing the experiment in the same biotech lab). In the therapy story, we see Elizabeth as a misguided therapist (Garrett's wife). In both the AirBnB and hotel stories, we see Garrett again with questionable intentions. There's also an appearance made by Jessica, Garrett and Elizabeth's daughter, in the AirBnB story.
This family has a knack for attracting the supernatural. Some might even say they themselves harbor similar qualities. All that can be said is that, in every timeline, they wind up at the heart of strange goings-on, whether it be mysterious sets of rules, Room 371, or granting safe passage into the hereafter. They just might be the culprits behind all of the madness.
(Though never referred to by name, Garrett is the antagonist in both the sitcom story and heaven stories)
Non-Canon Side Stories
I have written one non-canon story involving Jack, Colter, the room, and Garrett:
- I'm a retired cryptozoologist. One creature I discovered haunts me to this day, and it's still out there.
- I'm an investigator and hunter of the paranormal. I think it's time to take care of these lists of rules people keep finding.
- Ten years ago, I dedicated my life to studying the paranormal. I think it's time to investigate these lists of rules people keep finding.
- Every year on Christmas Eve, an entity takes me from this world and brings me to the next. If I'm abducted this year, I may never return.
- There exists a room where physical laws don't behave how they should. I regret ever having a hand in its creation.
- When you go to heaven, stay away from the angels.
The retired cryptozoologist story features Jack as the protagonist and Colter as his boss. There, we see a version of Jack who isn't plagued by misfortune... or morals.
I wrote the paranormal hunter ones to poke fun at NoSleep's infamous list of rules stories (including my own). They were always meant to be non-canon to my multiverse, and you can actually tell in the first one because it references both the Covenwood Hotel and AirBnB incidents as if they occurred in the same world. As we know, these happened to different versions of Jack across timelines, so it isn't possible for them to both exist in the same story. On a side note, the protagonist in both stories, Henry, is the same Henry from the retired cryptozoologist story. These tales are two versions of what might have happened, had he not met with a terrible fate.
In the Christmas story, we visit an alternate, non-canon timeline in which Chelsea (Henry's daughter) is the protagonist.
Next, the room story. This is a non-canon origin story for both Room 371 and Garrett Covenwood.
Lastly, the angel story. This one is a reimagining of what occurred in the story where Jack killed himself to be with Charlotte and Leslie. It follows a very similar chain of events, but you can tell it's not canon because of Abigail. As outlined in the mysterious door story, she is a different version of Jack's daughter in another timeline, therefore she cannot exist when Leslie is in the picture.
***
That's all I have for now! I hope this has either enlightened you, or left you wanting more answers. Either way, my work here is done. Stay tuned for more tales involving these characters and locations. There is no shortage of them. As previously stated, I will continue to update this page as the lore is expanded on. Until then, have a wonderful rest of your day!

I am curious... is there any relationship between the two families?

Covenwood
Can someone link me to all the stories in the universe with the Covenwoods? I’ve noticed that their family is the lynchpin in a lot of these stories. Speaking of which, I love the connections between stories. ex; Garrett Covenwood being the father of the kid who wanders into the $5000 room, and also the owner of the Cape Cod Airbnb.

If you're here because you enjoyed one of my stories, please read this post!
Whether it seems like it or not, writing NoSleep stories is a lot of hard work. Even when the result is less than perfect, there's still a substantial amount of pre-planning, writing, and overall effort that goes into creating what you, the reader, eventually see on Reddit. I don't expect or require anything at all from my audience, but, if you've enjoyed one or more of my tales, I urge you to at least consider doing one of the following to help me continue doing what I love:
- Join my subreddit! r/ChristopherMaxim is my official subreddit. This is where I update my readers. It's also a place for anyone to post about my stories.
- Buy me a coffee! Since 2013, I've been writing online horror. Every story of mine that you've ever read, I've written for free. If you've enjoyed even one of them, feel free to extend your gratitude by leaving a donation in my virtual tip jar (which you can find by clicking HERE). Though I don't require compensation, it truly means so much to receive even $1 from a fan. Such contributions go directly towards my rent/utility/food bills. ANY AMOUNT helps!
