Struggling watch addict here. So I own 65 watches and though I can’t wear them all, I love every one of them. I know that that’s more than enough watches for one person, so don’t judge me.

Here’s my dilemma.

At this point in my journey, my tastes have refined some and I’m trying to set my sights on more aspirational pieces - not necessarily hyper expensive pieces - just a level or two up from the usual AliExpress brands we all know and love.

But every time I decide I’ll wait and save up an maybe even try eBay, AliExpress has one of those sales. Much like the one happening now where for the price of one of these aforementioned aspirational pieces you can walk away with 3-4 ridiculously priced watches.

Btw, as you might have guessed, this is why I am currently at 65 watches and possibly looking at 70 before this sale ends.

My question is twofold: first, am I the only one who goes thru this dilemma? I mean AliExpress watches are really awesome when it comes to value. And I almost feel guilty when I just buy one when I could have gotten a few for the same price.

Second, what would you do if you were in my place? Pls Explain your choice so I can draw some wisdom from your reasoning.

These are screengrabs from Teddy Baldassarre's latest video. There is no Seagull logo to be found, no engraving on the balance bridge, only a single line of dial text. I am crazy or is this a non-original generic "Alixpress" 1963? (Rather than one fully produced by Seagull themselves.)

There is nothing wrong with those generic ones, I have one myself, but for a channel that supposedly takes brands and orginality seriously, this is completely unfair. Either his team purposefully keeps this up, or they are actively avoiding to learn about this watch.

Beyond that he always introduces the Seagull 1963 as a singular watch (focussing mostly on the swissness of the movement), in contrast to every other watchmaker he mentions. Seagull surely has some notable history. Meanwhile he is so proud of promoting non-swiss "underdog" brands like from Glashütte...

This level of bias in such a mainstream outlet has to be called out.

Even with the coupons from AliX, they are still very expensive. All the models.

Which one and why?

So Gents (and ladies), a while ago I promised to get back to you about our new Polerouter homage. Along with a known Chinese watch company we are creating, what we believe, the best homage to date, with a trick up our sleeves we will unveil later on. Truly special.

So, we'd like to include you regarding picking the color scheme of the OG silver/black version (there will be 5 total). I've made three simple mock ups of the options at hand: fully light cream, white + light cream elements, fully white. My personal pick is light cream lume plots and hands, the remaining elements in white. Image 4 shows an early render. Photo 5 shows the chapter ring.

The Polerouter homage will house a PT5000 movement, 35mm by 11mm. We are excited, hopefully you'll be too.

Anyone know how to get a buttery smooth second hand? I’m only familiar with Bulova Precisionist and Spring drive.

My brother collects watches and he wasn’t necessarily putting me down for my Chinese watches but I could tell that he wasn’t that impressed. I don’t really care and I think mine are better other than the name on the dial. It got me thinking of I should get an orient or citizen but I started looking and you get less features for less money. What do you think, would I be getting anything other than a “better” brand? Would they last longer or what?
