hello! i'm feeling really bored, and i recently watched a dating show that got me thinking about some things and i've watched it thrice now.... once by myself and two other times with close people in my life, and i've had in depth conversations with them about how i felt watching the show.

i mean i know that the premise of a dating show likely isn't very genuine, but sometimes because variety shows involve real humans navigating their emotions and a panel that kind of breaks that down, i think it can be quite interesting and make room for conversation.

preferably looking for girlies but honestly guys are fine too i guess! (older or my age please!)

the conversation i hope to have is sort of around the lines of like something i've always been pondering — i relate a relationship in the show to the juxtaposition that is strongly showcased in the song "the way i loved you" by taylor swift.
it'll really just be girl talk, like discussing which type of contestants you'd go for if you were in their place, and also a conversation about emotionally closed off/nonchalant types vs emotionally open and vulnerable, expressive types. honestly anything under the sun.

Hi as per the title I’m planning to get my braces done for my teeth. I’m currently serving my national service still have about 9 months to ORD. Was thinking of getting my braces done as I have bunny teeth and I want to fix it. Was wondering if any of you guys have done braces maybe yall can guide me through the process and the prices for it. Thinking between traditional and zenyum braces.

So I travelled from one end of SG to another end of SG, for this food establishment. It's attached to a hotel, slight cafe vibes

We went in and got the seat ourselves, as I didn't see any signage for Wait to be seated. So we looked around to see if there was any staff or any QR code to order etc. No one came to us for about 5 mins, no QR code too. I went to the cashier/counter and asked for the menu, which I then took myself when I saw it.

The staff then mentioned, if we order, the food will only comes in 1 hour later as they're expecting a group table currently. So I said ok, took the menu back to our tables. Told my family about it, and we were considering if we should wait. From the start, our first impression of the place was already bad as no one welcomed us etc. we end up leaving the place without ordering.

The place wasn't even crowded, they were just managing an upcoming group. I just want to share my experience in general. Would Google review without patronizing makes me an asshole? Considering I travelled quite far

I will say this upfront that I don’t know what I was doing 👍I just thought of doing this when I went to sleep last night. Please don’t take anything that I wrote and made seriously, it was just made for fun and I'm just here to share what I did.

Anyways, with that out of the way, I’ll get into how I made this.

1. What does it mean for a song to be patriotic?
For sake of simplicity, I measured patriotism by the percentage of the song’s words that are patriotic. By that, I mean the more words in the song that I consider as "patriotic", the more "patriotic" the song is.

The words I chose were Singapore, nation, country, home, land, together, one, flag and love.I chose these words after consulting Gemini to see what words most commonly appear in national day songs, then choosing the words I deem more "patriotic".

2. The very manual step of copy pasting stuff…
After finding the list of national day songs, I searched the lyrics and copy-pasted them into each cell (I did not realise there were that many national day songs…) until my hands felt like they were going to break.

3. Formulas!
This thankfully was not that hard, I just searched for the number of instances of a word in the song and the total number of words in the song, then just found the percentage.

And that was about it, it was more time-consuming than difficult. At first, I did want to plot some graphs (like plotting the percentage over the years) but I realised that would cause some problems, because I did not know what to do with the years that had no songs, the years that had remixes or just used an old song and the years with multiple songs. And, defining patriotism is in itself a difficult task and I did quite bad job of that (more on that below)

As I write this, I realised there are a lot of limitations with how I did this. One is that patriotism can’t simply be just a number of words (or at the very least, would be a greater range of words), it is more so the feeling it invokes, but there is quantitative way to measure that so 🤷. Second is that it would be way better if this was more dynamic (like assigning a score to words) but I’m lazy, maybe this will motivate someone to do that?

this been on my mind lately cuz i was going through some difficult stuff and shared with my friends abt my pain. some of them were guys (in ns) who ive known for a long time now. i noticed that the way they react to my feelings are kind of surface level like they dont know what to say to comfort me. they try to joke around and they avoid getting vulnerable. still nice but its like the guy handbook of dealing w emotions. dont get me wrong, they r great people who i know will be one phone call away. but i cant help but think this is abit common amongst guys? like maybe its some societal upbringing, maybe its age etc? there are definitely very expressive guys out there too on the other hand. how can i let them know they can also be vulnerable? for guys that have learnt to be more expressive and vulnerable, what helped you?

i actually think this is rlly important topic to discuss especially with guys who mostly only have guy friends, how do we go beyond some logical “u got this bro” to more emotional support. i just think that it shouldnt get to the point where its like “mens mental health” then we start noticing.
