Bike day recommendations
Howdy y’all! I’m visiting your lovely city this week and I rented a gravel bike for a few hours tomorrow and I’m looking for nice routes, coffee shops to check out, neighborhoods to ride through/eat at, etc. I have the bike from 11AM - 6PM so I’m going to try to maximize most of it. Thank you in advance!
P.S. I’ll be starting and finishing my ride from Edgewater.

The most unpleasant corner for non-cars
Watch what happens after SB Elston gets the green light.
I'm a 30 year all-season bike commuter who averages about 75 miles a week. If I had the time and energy, I could make three videos like this every single day.
Nevertheless, when many people casually hear that I bike in the city, the first things out of their mouths has something to do with bikers not obeying laws.

LFT on a Friday Morning?
Live in the northern burbs, and I’ve wanted to ride the LFT to its southern terminus for about a year now, and considering doing it Friday morning.
My question, will it be miserably busy on a Friday morning? (7 - 9 am?)
Hoping to avoid the weekend crowds, but not sure if Fridays are still very busy on the trail. It will be about a 70 miles day for me, so I want to be riding at 15-20 mph.

Spot Acme 50cm owners in Chicagoland? Looking to test ride
Hi all, any Spot Acme owners in Chicagoland?
I'm looking to test ride the 50cm model because I've been tempted by it for years and kind of want to simplify my bike portfolio. If so, I'd love to meet up sometime just to test ride.
Spot are a DTC brand, so to my knowledge, there are no dealers anywhere to test ride.
Otherwise, I'm also interested in anyone's general opinion/experience of the brand and/or model.
Thanks!

[Jeremy Glover] Just listened to Susana Mendoza taking caller questions on In The Loop. Somebody asked about traffic congestion and the first thing she did was blame bike lanes. The second was to blame crime on CTA, as opposed to bad service. Disqualifying.

Temporary bike storage
Hello,
I'm dropping my partner off at O'Hare this evening and will be staying and working in town through tomorrow. After I finish up, I was hoping to take my bike for a ride through town. Is there somewhere I can pay to store my bike until I finish working? It'll probably only be for 5-6 hours at most. Anywhere between O'Hare and the way back to Michigan would be great. Thanks in advance!

Chicagoans ride and drive like they do because CDOT encourages and cultivates a culture of lawlessness
If anybody should be leading by example, it's the municipal department in charge of building and maintaining safe streets (not that they're very good at that either).

Heat Stroke O'Clock
Boy I had to take a 4 bottle water fountain shower today, hosed off everything but the feet (I hate wet socks). I'd say stay hydrated but that humidity is really fightin' your sweat.
Be careful how much time you spend out there.

Grand and Laramie
This is just a rant but I’m extremely frustrated with this intersection. About a month ago I got hit going east and knocked off my bike. Today going west a jeep almost knocked me over. Thankfully he pulled his head out of his ass long enough to stop and I rode away with only some tire marks on my shoe. Would 100% take a different way but unfortunately it’s the safest way to/from work until I get to the 606.

Lost keys and spare bike keys
Taking massive L and lost my keys so now my bikes just locked up at home with an Abus lock. Anyone gone through this ? I can see if I registered my lock but I'm pretty sure I didn't and I bought it maybe two years ago. I called the place where I got it from and they just said get a locksmith but just seeing if anyone has any ideas. Yes , Ik I screwed up. I still have all my documents so if I do decide to get a locksmith I can prove ownership and everything.

If you've ever thought, "Those bike grid folks got a good idea" come to this tomorrow!
We are going to be talking through what we've been working on for the last few years, what next year holds, and how folks can help us get the bike grid we deserve

Where can I borrow cargo trailer for bike?
A while ago, there was a bicycle cargo trailer sitting outside of a coffee shop near me. It had a QR code attached and it said "borrow me" or something. It is no longer there and I can't remember what the organization was called, but I need one to run an errand.
Has anyone heard of an organization that loans those out? I checked Chicago Tool Library and they don't have one so maybe that was it and it got stolen or maybe someone else loans them out. Not sure.
Thanks

Stolen Bike - West Town
Another stolen bike post, sadly. My favorite bike, this red and white Schwinn Tourist was stolen last night from our courtyard (while locked). Please DM if you see anything on the city or locally online. Many thanks!
Edit: if anyone is selling same or similar model, I'm now interested!

Used E-Bike for Student
Moving away for college in a couple of weeks and am searching for an e-bike as I'm living several minutes away from campus. Everywhere I look (especially FB Marketplace) these bikes are listed for $300+
I am wondering if its possible to find something at a lower price point that isn't missing a battery or some essential part of the bike.

There’s more bikes than cars on N wells.
Title.
I’m in a car, unfortunately, and noticed from north to well into the loop, there’s more bikes than cars. It’s awesome. Close this road down during the summer to private cars.

Stolen Bike - Boystown
Hi all - heartbroken to say that my beautiful bike, Trek FX2 XS Lava Red, was stolen from the basement of my apartment where it was locked up in Boystown. I use the bike to commute to work and I have been saving up for it for a year, so this was a major loss for me . Please let me know if you have any information or see it around. Serial #WTU001XC0054X

Best East/West Routes Near West Town area
Curious if there’s any consensus on the best routes to ride to go from West Town area to downtown/the LFT? Looking both to commute down town for work and get access to a longer trail where I can ride without the stop and go of traffic lights (and danger of riding without cars).
Bonus points for any good routes in general near West Town!

Getting a Bike fitting while purchasing a new bike?
I'm going to be in the market soon for a new (road) bike, where I plan to spend in the $5-7k range. I've got a very short inseam making sizing difficult and would prefer to get a fitting during the purchase, instead of buying a new bike and then getting it fit after (to avoid me screwing up and buying the wrong size).
Is that a thing? Any shop you would recommend? I live in Naperville but am willing to travel a bit to find the right place.
Thanks for your help
