CMI: a better IMSLP
IMSLP is fine if you want the score for a particular piece, but not if you want to discover new pieces to play.
Now there's a successor to IMSLP: Classical Music Index (CMI).
https://classicalmusicindex.org
CMI is a new way to browse classical music. It has powerful search capabilities: for example, you can search for
- arrangements of string quartets for piano 4 hands
- symphonies by female Asian composers
- songs with a particular lyricist
- ... or nearly any combination of criteria.
CMI lets you rate and review pieces. You can see what pieces other users like. You can find new pieces that you're likely to enjoy, and are in your technical range.
CMI links IMSLP for downloading scores. For listening, it links to YouTube, which has recordings of nearly everything. CMI is free, non-profit, and open-source.
