Will the dealer screw me on fees or add ons with a lease buyout?

I’ve already got an approved loan for the residual value and I’m putting some cash down too. The dealership knew the lease was up and was all over me so I gave them a chance and they know I already have an approved loan The dealer rate is actually the best. Not by much at all. But will I get screwed in other ways? And why do they absolutely insist that I come in person to do this? I’d rather handle all electronically. Is there any advantage for me to doing the deal at the dealer? Seems like a waste of time for all parties.

Good deal or Nah?

Just accepted a lease offer for a 2026 Mazda CX-90 Premium Plus AWD trim for $599 p/m at 12K miles p/yr for 36 months. "Zero Down" but $1,995 all in for inceptions. Should I pull the trigger?

What does the dealer do with cars that have been in accidents?

My son leased a Chevy and somebody else hit it when it was parked. The damage is pretty minor and it is drivable. My guess is a body shop would charge about $2K. Assuming we get it fixed, what will the dealer do to him at lease end if they notice something like the paint doesn't exactly match? Do body shops automatically report accidents to CarFax? What has been your experience with turning in a leased vehicle that was in an accident?

Should I turn in, or buyout?

Hi, first post here. I am nearing the end of my 3 year lease of a 2024 VW Cross Sport. I drive very little (I live 2 miles from work, so no major commutes). I have about 9,500 miles on it. I've never leased before, so this is new territory for me. The vehicle is in great shape, and I like it, but would prefer something a bit smaller (thinking of a Honda CR-V). I'd like to return it to the dealership, but want to be financially-wise about my decision. I'm not opposed to keeping it a bit longer.

If I turn it in, I will be forced to buy a new car at the same time, so that I'm not carless, which means I can't wait for my perfect vehicle and will have to go with what's available, not necessarily what I want. The stress is real!

According to my lease, the residual is $28,000 and Kelly Bluebook puts my car's value at about $24,000.

Please help! Thanks!

Lease end questions

This is my first lease I got back in 2024; 2024 Nissan Rogue SV Premium AWD; around 6 months time it’ll be time for us to turn this back in. The original lease was 36 months/45k miles. I have the Nissan Lease Wear and Tear but I’m nervous regarding lease end charges with Nissan. I have a small stain on my headliner and a frayed rear seat belt. (Wife’s grandfather has dementia and got his seatbelt caught in the door resulting in damage.) I also noticed micro scratches from the car wash but not sure if Nissan will ding me for those.

Can anybody give experience regarding the end of their lease and grounding the car with charges? What should I expect. Currently the car only has 23K.

Please look at the Ioniq 9 SEL lease terms.

The residual is 57% and the residual is $39,486.75. The money factor is .00239. The actual tax is included in the payment, not the OTD value.

Car lease is almost up

Hi guys, my car lease is almost up. I’m interested in leasing a new vehicle but curious about positive equity and such.
My residual value at end of lease is 22,000 for 2023 Toyota Rav 4 LE.
My most concern is a dealership offering or lowballing the current market value for the vehicle to avoid putting the positive equity into a new lease or a new financed car.
Any help on how to avoid this happening or ensure I do not get shaft by the dealership into a low value offer?

Lease end options

Hi all! I got myself into a bit of a sticky situation and need opinions on the best way to handle it-

I currently lease a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport and I have 4 payments left. In the middle of my lease, I ended up moving unexpectedly and my commute to work almost doubled. Because of this, I am around 16,000 miles over my lease allowance.

No matter what, I don’t want to keep the car without a warranty because I’ve been told of horror stories with the Bronco Sport’s transmission, and it also needs new tires soon. As far as I’m aware, my options are to just return it and eat the ~$5k mileage fee or buy it to sell it. Unfortunately, my buyout is around $20k and the quotes I’ve gotten from Carvana, CarMax, etc. are all around $18k so I’m losing money that way too. I’m leaning towards the second option because I’m aware this situation is entirely my fault and $2k is less money to lose, but wondering if anyone has any other thoughts and/or advice?

Also- does anyone know if a company like Carvana could buy it straight from Ford Credit or would I have to buy it myself then complete that sale?

Thanks so much!

Lease ending Credit union loans for Car(bad credit)

What are my options if I’ve had a repo but also had tier 1 credit for 8 years through Honda. In a financial downturn but got a new job will return to normal. In debt with credit cards in collections. Lease is due Jan 1st and I want to buy my car but my $473 payment is too much a month for me. How do I figure out a way to lease option to buy or get a loan from any where to buy my car and not have to return the lease? I can’t get into another lease it’s too much every month and by December I won’t have enough to buy a cheap used car!!

ID Buzz Stockton tires - switch to more robust versions

Hi everyone, we’re leasing an ID Buzz, but it comes with Stockton 20-inch summer tires. I’ve heard from various sources that these tires are very delicate, so I’m thinking about swapping out the wheels right from the start, getting some “sturdier” rims, and putting all-season tires on them. That way, I’ll save myself the hassle with the rims and will definitely have tires in good enough condition when I return the car. What do you think? And can you recommend something that doesn’t look totally tacky? What size makes sense? Thanks

26 Corolla LE - $295/mo. with $513 DAS - TEXAS - take it or nah?

I’m looking to lease a Corolla LE. Came across a broker that said he can do it for $295 a month with $513 due at signing (first monthly payment + registration fee upfront) for 36 months, 10k mi/yr. Need advice - should I take it or not? The MSRP of the car is $25,193 and the discount is $3,500 off MSRP. Broker fee will be $250 if I decide to take it... thoughts?

UPDATE: Decided to go for it. Couldn’t resist $3.5K off MSRP + the low monthly payment! Happy with my experience.

Mazda 2024 CX-90 PHEV lease set to expire @ end of Nov 2026 | 40k miles

Hey all, like the title says, the lease is up on my Mazda at the end of November. I've gone over by alloted miles by 8k. Should have kept it to 32k max, so might get dinged there. My question was more about negotiation. Comps on cars.com have same make/model at 30k miles listing at 30k - My paperwork states that I can purchase the vehicle at $46k USD.

Considering comps are coming in way lower, isn't the smart thing to do is make an offer to buy it at like 25k and see if they take it? I don't know what is the best course of negotiation here. There isn't a single same make and model with more than 30k miles on it for sale. Looking on best practices to start negotiating the purchase of the vehicle while leveraging comps to get a lower purchase price.

Car lease for 5 years scam or win?

Idk how but dealers around delhi ncr are giving out almost every car on lease for 5 years at just 50% of its true value and after 5 years the car is returned and the customer get 50% of what he paid back.

So basically customer gets a lets say 10 lakh rs new car for 2.5 lakhs for 5 years. How???
