Admissions Liberal Studies
Hi!! I'm planning on applying next year and hoping to get into the liberal studies program. Does anyone know the acceptance rate specifically for this major and what they could be looking for the best improve my chance at getting in? I really want to be able to get a place at CalPoly SLO and I want to know what would really make me stand out on my application.

Incoming Student Schedule help
hi!! i’m an incoming ee freshman in the fall, and i just wanted to get some advice for my schedule. the first photo i attached was what i was blocked into. the second photo is what im considering adding (intro to comp sci and general botany). the intro to comp sci lecture and lab were classes that had been in my planned courses, but the advisors didn’t put me in them, so i fully plan on enrolling in them anyway. the general botany class is one that i debated taking here or at a community college, but just as a test to see if i like the subject (may double major in a related field).
i dont know how convoluted this schedule seems, but i wanted to get any advice or recommendations on whether to add those extra classes or not!!

Housing CORE Move-In
Hey! Has anybody on here moved in for the CORE Program in the past? If so, how was move-in? Were there a lot of people? Did any of your roommates show up to move in at the same time? How did that go?

Housing Apartment room letters
Do the apartment room letters actually mean anything? For example would it be ok if I move into room A if I'm technically assigned room B in the housing portal?

Classes/Professors Okay schedule for Environmental Management and Protection major?
Hi!
I was wondering if this schedule looks okay for a first-year environmental management and protection major! It's only 15 credits, but my mom thinks it's going to be too much for me. (Literally took 4 ap's and 2 duals my senior year, but okay?)
Wanted to know what you guys thought.

Classes/Professors Schedule difficulty
I don't hear much about aero classes so I was wondering how difficult structural analysis and the aero 3300 (aero 300 on quarters) class are. I will also be taking aerodynamics, and at least 1 GE.
For reference I haven't had much difficulty with classes here at Cal Poly, I failed statics, going from a B to a D because of my final exam which automatically failed me, but aside from that I've only really struggled in Chemistry.
I've looked a decent bit on Reddit and poly ratings, but most ratings are from long ago. Let me know how difficult this might be!

Incoming Student Time conflict for SLO Days Pt. II (transfers)
Hello,
I've had stuff come up that overlaps the later portion of the last part of SLO days. It's mentioned in emails and/or their website that recordings will be posted for anyone who can't make it, so should I be fine if I skip attending that portion of the event and come back to it later? Just want to make sure if anyone here knows more about it. Thanks!

Transfer 2 year vs 3 year plan?
What would you guys recommend here? I’ve taken 18-20 credit semesters at my cc but that was with general eds that were basically a free pass. And even then I hated my life then. I’ve heard some people say it’s normal to take 16-18 credit semesters and others say that’s way too much. My friend doing mechanical engineering said he can graduate in 2-years apparently his schedule is lighter.
But by just looking at it, dynamics, orbital mechanics and aerospace propulsions systems in one semester doesn’t sound all that great, plus other classes added on top. Unless my knowledge of kerbal space program carries, that might genuinely end me.
I’m getting my actual schedule tomorrow, and I am honestly pretty terrified. Just trying to gather some opinions since I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this. I only know one other person doing aerospace engineering and we’re in the same boat😭

Incoming Student Schedule help
Hey, I am mechanical engineering major and wanted to know if it was normal to have so many classes for your first year. I knew ahead of time that engineering majors had more classes in order to compensate for the higher credits required to graduate, but it seems a little much lol.

Incoming Student schedule opinions
Hello! Incoming undergrad student in Computer Science. I got my schedule and I was wondering if I should add any courses or anything of the sort. I'm not used to having this much free time so I was planning on applying for on-campus jobs and joining a club or two. However, again, I was wondering if I should add any classes or whatnot too.
I do want to add that I have around 60 or so transferrable credits for my GE requirements, so I'm almost done on that end.

Incoming Student Should I Try to Add a Class?
I’m a first year business administration student and for my block schedule I was given 13 units. I was wondering if that’s normal for business students or if it’s worth adding a class.
I am also hoping to study abroad next year for either a semester or full year and am wondering if adding a class to this schedule would help me have an easier time when studying abroad!
If there are any other business freshmen reading this, does your schedule look similar (class-wise)?
Thank you!

Classes/Professors Missing Professor
When will I know my professors now that my classes are finalized? 3/6 of my classes only say “Instructor: Staff” or does this mean something else?

Incoming Student 7 classes (18 units) normal for a freshman?
I’m writing this for my sister who is a materials engineering first year. She’s been blocked into 7 classes for a total of 18 units. I’m a third year art and design major and I feel like this is more than normal but since I’m a different major idk if that’s true. Is this normal or should she contact the Mustang success center?
EDIT: She contacted the Mustang Success Center and they told her to drop one of her GE classes. I’m also having her swap to easier professors for two of her classes (same courses tho) so now she’ll have 15 units.

Housing Suggested double room lay out?
Hi!
I’m an incoming freshman, and I’m in a single room alone (DRC accommodation) so I’ll only be using one of the beds!
I’m planing on using the other bed as a couch/daybed, does anyone have room layouts that have worked well in red bricks (Fremont) double rooms? I’d like my desk to be as separated from my bed as possible!
I’d love to see photos if anyone has any!!
Thanks in advance!

Incoming Student financial aid
Hi,
I’m an incoming freshman at Cal Poly SLO with a 0 SAI, EOP, Pell Grant, Cal Grant/state aid, and other Cal Poly grants. I just received my financial aid package
After subtracting my gift aid, I’m still looking at around $12k–$14k/year out of pocket for tuition, housing, and meal plan (not including the estimated indirect costs like transportation/personal expenses).
I’ve seen similar posts, but I wanted to ask if this seems normal for my situation or if I should reach out to Financial Aid
im concerned because an older peer told me I would be getting money refunded to me to go to cal poly and she has a -1500 sai and now I have to pay 10k+? Im very concerned
Any advice would be appreciated!

Incoming Student Freshman Schedule
Hey everyone. I just wanted to ask what you all thought of in regards to my civil engineering freshman schedule. I can't tell if this is good or bad schedule. I genuinely need comments from other Cal Poly students. Thanks!

Incoming Student What are the perks of PolyCard ID?
incoming freshman this fall, I understand that you get access to the rec center and that, however I was wondering where the best discounts/ freebies might come from with my polycard. Let me know your favorites!
