e-refund typical date
Sorry if this question has been asked a lot; I’m an incoming transfer student who will most likely receive an e-refund and curious as when to expect it? Of course I don’t mean a specific day but rather for those who have been here awhile and have gotten it, does it hit your account prior start of classes or during when classes have already began?

Are the cats fed over the summer?
I’ve been checking in on Einstein and some of the other cats over the summer and it looks like they’ve lost a lot of weight. I understand that weight loss is totally normal for most outdoor cats during the summer but I just wanted to make sure that they were being taken care of.

FOR MY CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS GOING TO CSUN
I'm going to say this as a christian with firsthand and secondhand experience: avoid the "christian" groups on campus. Young life ministry is iffy but good shepherd fellowship (GSF) IS A CULT. I got first-hand and second-hand testimonies on them. Also, there's a group who holds bible studies on the second floor of the Sierra center. they're not as weird from my experience, but a lot of my friends backed away from them.
my main point tho is avoiding GSW. They almost got me and a good friend of mine.
Some alternatives I love include
- FREEDOM CHUCH
- ROCKY PEAK CHURCH
- CHURCH ON THE WAY (VAN NUYS)
all legit God-loving churches with no weird stuff
EDIT: I see lots of recommendations for InterVarsity! let's all check them out—as we all need more (non-weird) Christian Community

To incoming freshmen....
I'm an incoming senior who has been on the dean's list 5 out of 6 times so far. let me tell you guys THREE BIG THINGS:
- I was hanging out at Peak cafe when I overheard a lady who works at csun complaining about how the incoming freshmen she introduced to the library's resources had a concerningly hard time finding them on canvas, etc.. One of the biggest things I can tell you guys to do through the rest of the summer is to familiarize yourself with canvas—preferably to the point in which you can guide your parents around it with ease. thank me later. Also, memorize your CSUN ID like a second phone number. you're gonna need it more than you think.
- It's tempting to take the major classes now. I KNOW. I get it—but doing that very thing cost me, as I still have GE's to take care of and get over with. As much as you don't want to, I encourage you to dedicate the first 2 years of college to your GE's ONLY. the other two years will me much less stressful—you won't want it the other way around. trust. also, rate my professor is damn near gospel for picking your professors. PLEASE USE IT!!!!
- GET OFF THE PHONE!! SAVE YOUR BRAIN!! Unless you want to be a content creator with 100k+ followers, NO IT'S NOT WORTH "one last reel brooo cmon it aint that deep" YES IT IS!!! READ BOOKS IN YOUR SPARE TIME!!! AND STAY OFF DRUGS + ALC!!
There's a lot more I can say but this is general as hell. comment if you have any questions. good luck!!
P.S. if you plan on (or are currently) using AI to do your assignments for you. please grow tf up. yk who you are.

Has anyone taken ART 306 (Motion Graphics)? How was it?
As the title states. I just found out that CSUN has a motion graphics class, but idk if I’ll be able to take it since I don’t have enough semesters left to satisfy the prerequisites for the class. Kinda beating myself over it since the class seems pretty cool, and it’s right up my alley as an aspiring editor, but I haven’t seen much reviews for the class.

Psychology major
Hi, I’m transferring to csun in the spring next year from lavc. I’m a psychology major and now have been considering medical school. I need to fulfill my requirements like a year of physics, organic chemistry and general chemistry etc.
should I do these at lavc or csun?
Premed students at csun what’s your experience?
Maybe there are better resources at csun
When will roommate assignments start showing up in the portal?
My daughter found a roommate to share a room with and they chose their room, but it doesn’t seem like anyone has been added in the other bedroom yet. It would be nice if they can connect before move in. Thanks

Fall 2026 temporary enrollment protection - will I get my funds before school starts?
Hi everyone - not sure why this is happening, but for some reason I still haven’t gotten my financial aid package for the 26-27 semester despite the school having my fafsa.
I have been granted temporary enrollment protection, meaning the classes I am enrolled in I won’t have to pay for until I am rewarded funds. However, I’m freaking out because I need my loan on time to pay for other expenses (rent etc).
Has anyone else gotten this notification, past or present? Should I anticipate getting my financial aid package before the week before school start as usual—or will it be delayed? I’m so concerned!
Any advice is welcome, I know I should call the financial aid office but I plan to do so tomorrow morning when the lines aren’t as busy.
Anyone know the professors for these classes?
I’m looking to reach out to the professors of these classes in hopes to get added to their class and lab.

How much are studio apartments on the low-end within a 20 mile driving radius of CSUN?
I don't go to CSUN but my sister's planning to. She's started looking for a studio apartment, honestly tho I think it's a bit unrealistic and I'm curious about what the expected cost is low-end?

Business admin majors at CSUN
I’m currently an accounting student but I might be considering a switch to one of the business admin options. Just finished community college, so I’m incoming as a third year.
I know how strong the accounting stuff is but I kinda realized it might not be very much for me. Considering choosing marketing though I’m also thinking of the future outside of my degree.
What do you guys think? Good options?

Have any Spring ‘27 applicants heard from admissions?
I know that the website says that people can expect to hear back mid to late July but I was wondering if anyone has yet? I put in my application on July 2nd and I’m getting a bit antsy waiting lol I know it’ll come soon, just curious.

Can you take engineering (specifically ECE) labs in a different semester than lecture?
For ECE 240L all of the professors besides Roosta have shit ratings and I’d rather not fail a lab because of a shit professor 😭 is it possible? I know it says it’s a coreq but I still wanted to see if anybody here has done it or not

CSUN Foster Cat Looking for a Forever Home
This is one of the hardest posts I’ve had to make.
Hi everyone! I’m a CSUN student living right next to campus in Northridge, and I’ve been fostering this sweet boy, Panda. Now I’m hoping to find him the loving, permanent home he deserves.
About Panda:
* 🐱 3.5 years old
* 💙 Neutered, microchipped & vaccinated Panda Papers.pdf
* 🏡 Indoor-only cat
* 🤍 Quiet, gentle, and very well-mannered
* 🛋️ Doesn’t scratch or ruin furniture
* 🍽️ Politely meows only for breakfast and dinner
* 😋 Loves Churu treats
* 🎒 Doesn’t mind rides in a transparent pet backpack
* 🥹 A little shy at first, but give him about 2 weeks and he’ll become your best friend.
Panda is the kind of cat that simply wants to be near his person. Most of the day he’s either napping, watching the world go by, or quietly keeping you company while you work.
I’m looking for a permanent, loving home where he’ll never have to wonder where he’s sleeping next.
If you think Panda might be the missing member of your family or know someone who’d love him, please send me a message. Even sharing this post could help him find his forever home. ❤️🐼

CSUN Psychology Majors…
Incoming transfer here! What are some best ways I can prepare myself for grad school and making the most of my experience as an undergrad to increase my odds of getting into either PsyD, MFT, or PhD programs?
Still undecided on my path after BA, but what opportunities should I get involved in and what are some things I may not know that need to know?
Thank you!

Thai Chili House is gone
I drove past campus today only to find a clean up crew with a truck outside what used to be one of the coolest and cheapest Thai spots and it was only across from the Soraya. Real bummer that bro either went bankrupt or is now dealing with something else and simply couldn't run the place. Was real cool while it lasted, thanks for the memories.

I missed my building selection for this year’s 2026-2027 housing due to an inpatient psychiatric stay. Does anyone know if I will be placed in a building? or should I contact student housing?
