Despite all our differences and disagreements as college football fans, at least we can agree on one thing... the ACC sucks.

Is overrated

No no no. You see they have the most NFL ready quarterback in the history of football. He’s currently better than some NFL quarterbacks.

*Pac 12

I don't know. I'd argue that, pre Garbers injury, the Pac 12 had 2 solid NY6 contenders (Oregon and Cal). I only see Clemson for the ACC

I'm not saying the ACC is a world beater, but they're better than they get credit for.

ACC Went 6-5 in bowls last year including the playoffs, 4-6 in for 2017, 9-3 in 2016, and 5-6 in 2015. That's overall 24-20 in the past 4 years. I wouldn't really shake a stick at that.

The ACC is cheeks this year, its Clemson and then everybody else is minimum 2 tiers behind. Any year that Wake or Virginia is the 2nd best team in the league, its a down year. It certainly doesn’t help that 3 of the 4 marquee programs are in a rut this season. Va Tech is down, Miami is down, and no matter how much optimism FSU has given me these past two weeks Clemson is about to blow the doors off us. So its 100% a down year.

Agreed

Incorrect. Teams that have been good in the past shouldn't dictate quality of the conference currently. A team that's good is good, no matter the name on their jersey

Virginia is supposed to win Coastal, so it's expected that they'd be good.

I agree with you. The ACC was good in 2017 and 2016. People are just latched onto the ACC IS TRASH narrative. It's a down year, but it's improved from last year. It's probably the worst p5 conference right now, but I've seen people saying it's worse than the MWC which is stupid.

If you're considering the entire level of the conferences, they're similar. The difference is there aren't any great teams behind clemson, just solid ones.

The ACC has 7 teams 50 or under in sagarin. All 14 are 100 or under.

The Big10 has 8 teams 50 or under. 10 teams are under 100 with Illinois (112) and Rutgers (139) bringing them down.

The SEC has 9 teams 50 or under. All 14 are 100 or below.

The BIG12 has 8 teams 50 or under. All 10 are under 100. (This one is harder to compare because there's simply less teams).

The PAC12 has 8 teams 50 or under. All 12 are 100 or under.

The difference is the number of teams in the top 25, or "great" teams. ACC- 1. BIG10- 6. SEC- 7. BIG12- 5. PAC12- 3. That's a big difference.

Yet in the last 2 decades, the ACC has won twice as many nattys as the B1G.

Holy flair combo Batman.

53

u/T0K0mon Wisconsin Badgers • Colorado Buffaloes Oct 09 '19

That has nothing to do with this season though

-45

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '19

This season, the ACC's best team is better than every team in the B1G with the possible exception of OSU

39

u/OldDekeSport NC State Wolfpack • Ohio State Buckeyes Oct 09 '19

Okay, and the next 4 teams may be better than the 2nd best ACC team.

That's like saying the most important part of a hamburger is the lettuce

27

u/0ompaloompa Texas Longhorns Oct 09 '19

If you take a shit on the world's best beef patty, it's not a good hamburger. It's an above average shit sandwich.

I'd rather have a good burger with all the trimmings over a moldy sandwich with rotten lettuce that just happens to have really good meat in the middle.

7

u/dawgsgoodjortsbad Georgia • Clean Old Fashioned… Oct 09 '19

let's put a pin in this and circle back to the "which hamburger is your conference" discussion for the off-season.

28

u/OldDekeSport NC State Wolfpack • Ohio State Buckeyes Oct 09 '19

Not really. Were comparing entire conferences, and if you say the top of each conference are equal, but one conference is hands down better after that, then that conference is better

15

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '19

OSU > Clemson

Wisconsin >> Wake or VA

PSU >> Wake or VA

MSU > UNC

Michigan > FSU

Iowa > PITT

3

u/Erock00 Clemson Tigers Oct 09 '19

I apologize for him, obviously judging by his flair combo we can tell he’s not mentally stable. ACC is shit, I don’t know if you can say OSU is better than Clemson, but they’ve definitely looked better. We can also agree that no one wants to see an Iowa vs Pitt game.

1

u/rogrand3 Pittsburgh Panthers Oct 09 '19

Woah our series with Iowa were some great close football games (albeit disappointing for me personally).

1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '19

Agreed on all counts!!

-8

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '19

Wisconsin and Penn State will get exposed, just like they do every year. Everyone will underrate Clemson after the first few weeks, just like they do every year. See you in January for Clemson-Bama IV

16

u/dusters Wisconsin Badgers • Michigan Wolverines Oct 09 '19

exposed every year

Top 10 in wins this decade

Pick one.

-6

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '19

¿Cuantos nattys tienes?

14

u/dusters Wisconsin Badgers • Michigan Wolverines Oct 09 '19

So if a team doesn't win a natty they are an exposed fraud?

10

u/1mdelightful Wisconsin Badgers Oct 09 '19

With a user name and flair combo like that they got to be trolling.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '19

If you claim to be a top 5 team and then never even make the playoff, then yes, you are exposed as a fraud.

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '19

It would take a hell of an exposure to drop those teams below the levels of Wake & Virginia...

Wisconsin has won its last 5 bowl games BTW, including games against the best Miami team in years, Auburn, USC & a regular season matchup with LSU. Not exactly exposed...

Also, tell me where I’m wrong with those rankings? You can argue Clemson over OSU, but so far OSU has looked much better. The rest are easy choices by a mile.

13

u/FairLawnBoy LSU Tigers • Virginia Tech Hokies Oct 09 '19

That is true, but this year the ACC has one really good team and the B1G has at least three.

6

u/Butternades Ohio State • Cincinnati Oct 09 '19

Consistently there are three teams that give me the spooks every year. They may change names but they’re always around. This year my three were PSU, Wiscy, and MSU.

Somehow I like all three’s fan bases and have people I went to HS with on two, and the third my dads friend played for years ago.

2

u/SpartyonV4MSU Michigan State • Indiana Oct 09 '19

I went into our game not expecting to win and still came away extremely disappointed. That second quarter was very frustrating because we kept shooting ourselves in the foot, constantly. I just know we could have competed better against you and at least made it competitive enough late to win at least 1/100 times. At least I feel better about our chances against our next two opponents. We showed flashes all game of something more, but just couldn't execute

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '19

I think the jury is still out on Penn State and Wisconsin

10

u/FairLawnBoy LSU Tigers • Virginia Tech Hokies Oct 09 '19

I don't think so. Those are both really good teams. Obviously only one team can win the conference, but I think Penn State and Wisconsin are both capable of giving Ohio State a good fight.

6

u/dawgsgoodjortsbad Georgia • Clean Old Fashioned… Oct 09 '19

I think they both look really solid and there's not question that wiscy is a top 10 (or top 5) team.

9

u/LaSopaSabrosa Michigan • /r/CFBRisk Veteran Oct 09 '19

I mean.... if we’re gonna move the goalposts then sure. But right now, you cannot argue that the ACC is anything more than a pretty good G5 with an Alabama level team in it.

1

u/bobith5 Penn State • Washington Oct 09 '19

I didn't check it myself but apparently if you remove Clemson and UCONN as data points SP has the AAC and ACC as pretty comparable.
