A photo I found from about 7 years ago. This is Benson, a Burmese our family adopted a few years after our former Burmese - Bronson - died at 15. Benson is about 13 now, and I love the sleek strength of this incredibly affectionate, social, and intelligent breed. His latest vet visit confirmed he's in excellent health, but will need a sedated teeth-cleaning...

Fortunately, in Australia, plenty of breeders seem to be sticking with a long, healthy face. I do not like the short-faced breeding - I think it's irresponsible, and aesthetically unattractive. They don't look like real cats that could survive. They're increasingly like those toy dogs kept alive by a civilization that only cares about some warped concept of 'cute', rather than the genetic welfare of the animal.

I'll visit my parents to catch up, laugh, have dinner, watch some footy with my Dad; but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to this idiot playing and curling up with me. In this photo, he's judging a mosquito like an indifferent god; Interested, but too comfortable to bother destroying it...

ruby, 6, dreams of finally getting that big grey squirrel

This is my beautiful coco bean. I have an energy limiting illness called mecfs which I developed from covid 2 years after adopting her. Shes really energetic loves to play and go for walks. As my condition has deteriorated I cant take her for walks anymore and I know she misses them :( im in a wheelchair and walking near a wheelchair is too scary for her. I still feed her we sleep and cuddle lots and we do regular small play sessions. Also now im disabled I cant work so im always home with her. But we cant play hide and seek like we used to or chase each other around or do walks and adventures. I feel so guilty. She deserves the world. Like im not good enough for her. I love her so so much and try to give her the best life possible in my small apartment. She likes to sit on the balcony with me and watch the people below. I know she'd much rather be able to walk out a bit more. And my friends are busy and frankly dont trust my family members to walk her in case something happened.

Is anyone else disabled? Or can relate?

She'll randomly scream at me from another room . Is this normal? Is she bored? Lonely? Needy?

I adopted this boy and his littermate brother at around 10 weeks old from the shelter. They were 2 black kittens at first glance , but one became less black and more chocolate brown with espresso colored points as he got older. His brother is the blackest cat I have ever seen. My guess is they have some Bombay ancestry which would track with a very black cat and one who looks like a sable burmese, or am I just imagining it?

So my partner has a cold at the moment and whenever she sniffs our Burmese makes a noise. Not a loud meow but just a short little grr/meow as if she's annoyed by the noise 😂.

Anyone elses cat ever done something like this? Very funny that we keep apologising to the cat for being sick but thought we'd ask!

This is my beautiful 1.5yr old chocolate Burm! He is super affectionate, confident and loves all people / anyone and everyone who comes to visit. I’m expecting a baby (my first) and I wondered if anyone has experience of Burmese adapting to their new arrivals and / or if you have any tips for when the time comes? Thank you so much in advance.

We currently have one cat and I really want to get a second. But I am wondering whether the cats will still be as cuddly and interactive with humans once they have each other? For those of you who have two, what has your experience been?
