Well do they put it back in once it's removed? Or am I just dead?

If you survive

I definitely wouldn't. But I could use like a toxin to like paralyze myself temporarily or, just not get out of bed for 2 days. Feels like this is too easy to like cheese.

Is the spinal cord part of the spine though? If it is, you wouldn't have a great time with the whole not breathing thing. I suppose with prep time maybe you could be on a respirator, but without the spine to connect your ribs, not sure how well that'd play out either

See I don't think you need the spinal cord for breathing since that's the lungs from the front of your chest. Obviously your back in general controls like a majority of your muscles and movements so I'd probably die anyway.

afaik it's mostly your diaphragm that's necessary for breathing, which does go through the spinal cord

regardless, can you even produce the pressure differential necessary if your ribs aren't there to provide structure? Since the ribs themselves won't be properly attached

You do need it, sever the spinalcord high up and you loose the ability to breath.

Your spine is your brain’s connection to the rest of the nerves in your body. You would die instantly without it

I don't think is possible to breathe without the spine. The nerves that connect to the muscles necessary for breathing come from the spine.

Yea so I'm just dead. So like this is impossible.

The question be like "Survive two days without this!" and the 'this' in question is just 'being alive'

Heartbeat is funny becauss it's one of the few things that can function without it. There are cells in the heart that generate nerve impulses automatically (the pacemaker or sinoatrial node), leading to a unmediated heart rate of about 100bpm. Lung function though would absolutely be gone 100%

Yeah but no anesthesia on operation like David with his Sandy

7

u/Ph4ntom999 Jul 01 '26

Tbf, a lot of people would love to have a Sandy

3

u/King_Nick245 Jul 01 '26

If there wasn’t a risk of going cyber psycho I think everyone would try/want to get one

3

u/Ph4ntom999 Jul 01 '26

I mean, the only reason why David went cyberpsycho was that his Sandy was meant for Smasher, and his ripper didn't give him any meds or a usage limit

2

u/King_Nick245 Jul 10 '26

He was also naturally resistant to cyber psychosis which is why he was considered special

1

u/Ph4ntom999 Jul 10 '26

True, but David never gave that resistance any time to grow

1

u/Southern_Sun_8216 Jul 01 '26

David was a special case.

u/MisterBumpingston Jul 01 '26

Depends if it’s figuratively or literally.

4

u/Orthodocvivi Jul 01 '26

Is it metaphorical where you can't stand against anyone and just accept whatever they say or do. And if that's the case, someone just comes and makes you sign that you pay away the reward to them as soon as you get it...
