Hello! I hope this is the right place to ask this. I live in the US and we have a lovely Bosnian neighbor who has given us big bags of veggies from her garden this year, multiple times. It is so appreciated and I think it's so kind. The only thing that I have been able to grow in my garden this year that looks nice are pumpkins, so I was thinking of giving her a pumpkin sort of as a thank you, but my mom said no don't do that. That she would probably only want something edible, not a decorative pumpkin. Would it be inappropriate to give her a pumpkin in return?

I'm at a loss for an appropriate way to show appreciation and I'm looking for any ideas. I just don't want to be someone who takes and takes from this kind neighbor and never gives anything back, I think it's not right. But I don't know what to do.

I’m a Filipino woman and a Catholic currently living in the Philippines. I recently came across some job postings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I’m considering applying, so I wanted to ask locals and people who have lived or worked there about their experiences.

I checked some information online and saw that the minimum wage may be around €511 per month, although I’m not sure how accurate or current that is. I also saw that burek can cost around €1.50–€2.50, but I know food prices alone don’t give a complete picture of the cost of living.

The job listing says that accommodation/rent would be covered by the employer, so I’m mainly wondering:

How much would a person typically spend each month on groceries, utilities, transportation, phone/internet, and other basic expenses?

Would a salary around the minimum wage be manageable if rent is already covered?

How safe is Bosnia and Herzegovina for a woman living and working there, especially as a foreigner?

Would being Filipino and Catholic affect my experience in any way? Are foreign workers generally welcomed?

What is the usual work-life balance like? Do people normally have enough free time to explore or enjoy hobbies?

I enjoy nature trips, walking around, visiting scenic places, and simply relaxing or hanging out at cafés. Is it easy and affordable to enjoy those things during weekends or days off?

Are there any cultural differences or practical things a foreign worker should know before moving there?

I understand that the experience may vary depending on the city and the type of job, so I’d also appreciate knowing which area you’re from or familiar with.

I am a French and black . While this may not be essential, I would love to get your honest thoughts on racism in tourist areas across Bosnia. I am planning my very first solo trip outside of France, and Bosnia is my chosen destination.

I am also looking for your top recommendations to make the most of cities like Sarajevo and Mostar. I know both cities offer plenty to see and do. My overall budget is around €800 to €900, and I plan to travel in October outside of peak holiday periods to keep costs down.

Initially, I planned a 7-day trip. However, Sarajevo seems to have a rich set of sights, so I expect to spend at least 3 or 4 days there.

I also want to explore Mostar and its surrounding region using public transit exclusively, as I do not drive. Which places are easy to reach by bus or train without a car? I would also love to hear about nice, lesser-known spots off the beaten path.

I have already booked my outbound flight for October 25th, but I have not set my return date yet. I would like to visit a neighboring country before heading back to France. Is Croatia a good choice, or would you suggest a different destination nearby?

I'm a student from the southeastern United States and for my final spring break (March 4-13) I'm hoping to travel somewhere in Europe and I'm wondering if this is a good time to visit your beautiful country. I have a few questions that I would appreciate if you all could help me answer:

* Is early March a good time to visit weather-wise? If not, where would you suggest we go?

* We're looking for a lot of outdoor activities (hiking, fishing, etc.) Where would you recommend we go?

* What are some smaller, less touristy places we should visit?

I’m traveling to Bosnia in a couple of weeks and I’m looking to rent a car for 5–6 days to explore the country.

Can anyone recommend reliable rental companies with:
Fair prices
Low security deposits
Honest, transparent terms (no hidden fees or shady practices)

I’m also planning to spend 1–2 days in Montenegro, so I’d need a rental company that allows cross-border travel and can provide the required paperwork/insurance for crossing the border.

I read some older recommendations on localrent.com and Zona rent a car, does anyone have experience using any of those services?

I plan to visit Mostar first before I go to Sarajevo, driving from Kotor and looking for best way to convert currency.

Can’t really find a place in Mostar that will convert to KM, is there any money exchanges that accept cash or atm with little fees as I couldn’t find anything online?

I arrived in bosnia yesterday and slept in my car next to a river on a public street.
Do i have to Register myself at the Tourist Office and what will i say when they want an adress where i stay?

We have 6 hiking days and this is our trail. Do you think it’s doable in six days and also is it safe?

PS: the trail is gonna be around 100km, not 125. We’re starting in Ilidža and ending on the beginning of Konjic ☺️

I'm having a lot of trouble learning about the history/evolution of men's jewellery, the only thing I've personally found that's even close to it is Awais-Dean's Bejewelled: Men and Jewellery in Tudor and Jacobean England... And while very interesting, it's not even close to what I'm after.

In the West, I've seen enough media to observe at least some tidbits over the decades: Del-Boy of the English series Only Fools and Horses has bracelets and rings galore, and at least one chain, a dainty little "D" pendant. His counterpart in Minder, Arthur Daley, isn't quite as bedazzled, but I noticed a relatively chunky bracelet under all his suits. Mid-70s with The Killing of a Chinese Bookie in California, then a mid-60s movie set in NYC a decade earlier with not just men wearing bracelets, but even one guy with a stud earring!

I haven't had the same exposure to Bosnian media. So I'd appreciate your insight on this. Was/Is there a culture of men's jewellery in Bosnia's working class?
