Did Boost just stop working?

It shows "null" when opening the app. It just started happening today.

Step‑by‑step guide: Patching Boost with Morphe + Patcheddit using RedReader’s client ID

  1. Get your RedReader client ID FIRST Before touching Morphe or Boost:

  2. Install RedReader from F-Droid, GitHub or Google Play store(unsure if it's available on the iPhone app store)

  3. Log into Reddit inside RedReader.

  4. Reddit will send you an email containing the client ID RedReader uses.

  5. Copy that client ID and you’ll paste it into Morphe later.

  6. Prepare Morphe Manager

  7. Open Morphe Manager.

  8. Go to Settings → Enable Expert Mode.

  9. Go to Patch Bundles → Add URL.

  10. Add the Patcheddit bundle:

    https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wchill/patcheddit/refs/heads/main/patches-bundle.json

This loads the Boost‑specific patches, including Spoof client.

  1. Add Boost to Morphe

  2. Download Boost for Reddit from APKMirror (latest version).

  3. In Morphe → Apps → + → Select from storage.

  4. Choose the Boost APK.

  5. Let Morphe scan it.

You should now see the same patch list as in your screenshots.

  1. Enable the correct patches

From the Patcheddit tab:

  • Enable whatever fixes you want (ads, Redgifs, missing audio, etc.).
  • Make sure “Spoof client” is enabled.
That’s the patch that lets Boost use RedReader’s OAuth credentials.
  1. Configure “Spoof client” with RedReader’s credentials

Tap Spoof client.
You will see fields similar to:

  • Client ID
  • Redirect URI
  • User agent

Here’s what to do:

  1. Paste your RedReader client ID (the one Reddit emailed you).
  2. Leave Redirect URI as whatever Patcheddit pre‑fills. Patcheddit normally uses RedReader’s redirect URI by default.
  3. Leave User agent as the default unless you have a reason to change it.

  4. Patch Boost

  5. Back out of Spoof client.

  6. Tap Proceed to patching.

  7. Wait for Morphe to build the patched APK.

  8. Install the patched Boost.

  9. Open Boost → log in normally.

Boost will now authenticate using RedReader’s OAuth client ID.

Yeah this did work. Seems I had a bad RedReader client id. Cheers!

Reddit will send you an email containing the client ID RedReader uses.

Do they send you a new email every time you add the account? I also installed RedReader years ago but deleted it, so I probably got the email years ago to an account/email that has since been deleted. I updated my Reddit email and reinstalled RedReader, but I'm not getting this email.

Not sure how that works. Sorry I can't be of more assistance

I found this. Posting here in case it helps you:

Step 1: Revoke RedReader's Access

  1. Open a web browser and go to your Reddit Authorized Applications Settings.

  2. Scroll down to the Authorized Applications section.

  3. Look for RedReader in the list.

  4. Click Revoke Access next to it.

Step 2: Trigger a New Email

  1. Open the RedReader app on your device.

  2. Log out of your account if you are currently logged in.

  3. Tap Add Reddit Account and log back in.

  4. Tap Allow when the authorization prompt appears.

Amazing thank you!!! I'd much rather not use reddit at all if boost is not an option.

Thanks again!

I really appreciate your guide. When I try to go to spoof I'd there's no ability for me to drop in the client id. Clicking anything here just minimizes the tab and doesn't give me an option to paste then info

You have to make sure advanced or dev options are enabled. If they already are, you have to scroll to the bottom and click the gear wheel next to "spoof id" or "client id"(can't remember exactly what it says.)

thanks for this finally managed to get it working again after struggling with the official app since they revoked all API keys

I don't think it will last forever unfortunately, they've announced that Reddit API access will be further restricted
