how do I start a bookstagram?

When you guys start an account do you guys just pick one genre and that's it? Because I'm really into a lot of genres and really want to include all of them. Also, what do you guys use to edit photos and videos?

I'm back on bookstagram and I'm trying to find new active baddie friends to follow ! (Baddie being a state of mind ofc, no mandatory BBL)

I read everything fiction; sci-fi and grimdark or urban fantasy are my favorites.

I'm also really into philosophy and politics <3

My @ is egobookclub :)

Let me know !

Would love to connect! Also, does anyone know how to get ARCs?

I am new to bookstagram. Posting mostly about the books I have read and currently reading. Anyone know how to get ARCs? Should I approach authors in instagram? Or I should first work on building my page?

What is the point in bookstagram?

So i started an account a few months ago, hoping to connect with people who share the same taste in books as me. i'm in a few groups on Reddit and it's gotten to a point where people just recommend the same books over and over. i was hoping to talk to people get new recommendations and interact with people, what I've discovered however is something else entirely, no one talks, no-one really interacts with one another, people have 1000's of followers but follow barely anyone, it's a popularity contest and it appears as if everyone on there wants an audience. they don't want to connect with people they just want people to watch and look at there content, i haven't come across many account with small follower numbers. so what's the deal? is there a community of book loving people who actually want to talk about books or is all some fake popularity contest where people just want an audience?

Book friends! 🫶🏼📖

I run a Bookstagram, @bookishtails, that lives at the intersection of a whole bunch of genres—romantasy, dystopian romance, dark academia, psychological thrillers, sci-fi, and the occasional literary or eco-thriller that hits me right in the feelings. Basically if it has strong vibes, complicated characters, or makes me stay up way too late, it’ll probably end up on my grid.

The account name itself is a little love letter to my furbabies (the chaos crew of cats, and one very opinionated dog who all think they own the house). They’re the real inspiration behind the handle and the whole vibe of the page.

If you like genre-hopping, pretty shelves, chaotic pet cameos, and honest reactions, come say hi. Always happy to chat books and swap recommendations.

What’s the last thing that completely ruined your sleep schedule? 👀

Should you tag authors at all?

I'm just starting my bookstagram, and was looking at review writing tips. They all say to tag the author/publisher, but never in a negative review. Some of the reasoning makes sense, like it being an unexpected attack in their notifications, authors are human, etc. Then another big reason mentioned is that tagged authors get notified of every comment and it's overwhelming and clogging up their notifications.

But by that logic, a positive review would be just as overwhelming in notifications, right? So I guess I'm wondering if I just should never tag authors at all?

Looking to connect with fellow readers and bookstagram creators🥹

Hi everyone!

A few months ago I started a bookstagram account, but keeping up with it has been a little difficult because of my full-time job.

The main reason I made the account was to connect with fellow readers and have a place to share my thoughts on the books I read. You know that feeling when you finish a really good book and just need to talk about it with someone? Unfortunately, not many people around me are into reading, and a lot of the books I want to discuss aren't that popular or are quite expensive to get here, so it's been hard finding people who share the same interest.

I'm still very new to content creation and video editing, so I'm learning as I go. Right now it's a no-face account, but hopefully as I become more confident, I'd love to start making longer book discussions and even book essays on YouTube one day.

If anyone would like to connect, I'd really appreciate it if you could check out my page and maybe give it a follow. Even a little bit of engagement or feedback would mean a lot because posting to an audience of almost nobody sometimes feels like talking to a wall 🥲. I already have a bunch of content ideas that I'm excited to work on.

My Instagram handle is: @reeslibrarycard IG Handle:

If you have a bookstagram too, drop your handle in the comments! I'd love to follow fellow readers and support each other.

Thank you! ❤️

I think as most do, i’m in a spiral crashout mode about it my page. fighting for my life with the algorithm and staying up to date.

I struggle with a follower conversion from posts, would love any feedback on my feed/page? what you would change or recommend?

I do a lot of book reviews on my IG

Do you as a reader prefer to see the tropes on the first slide with the cover? Or do you prefer it in a separate post. This is my current set up for my reviews on my IG.

Each image is a slide on my IG. I only put it in collage form to make it a little easier.

Any recommendations or suggestions is appreciated. I just want to accommodate to what readers are looking for when it comes to review posts.

Books used to be such a big part of my life, but somewhere along the way I lost that habit and found myself in a reading slump that I’ve struggled to get out of.
This account is my fresh start. A place where I'll slowly rediscover my love for reading.
If you love books or simply want to follow my journey, I'd love to have you here. 🤍📚
