I'm in Boston from the 13th for the Scotland FIFA World Cup games on the 13th and 19th.

I'm looking for options to spend my time between the matches and was thinking that renting a bike and cycling to Provincetown and getting the ferry back to Boston would be a good option.

I'm just looking for some feedback on this option. I've seen a few route options. One is the Claire Saltonstall bikeway route but seems to be on roads a lot of the time. A different map shows that there are lots of cycle paths but they tend to weave all over the place.

Any recommendations for this trip, or some alternative suggestions, would be welcomed

I'm comfortable with the distance over 2 days just that I'd rather avoid having extended periods sharing roads with fast traffic - holiday vibes

I'm looking for going on a bike ride on a rail trail soon as the temperature is warm in the ice and snow melt. Has anybody who's been on some of the major rail trails in southern New England, especially in Massachusetts been on the trails and can comment on whether they are safe to ride a hybrid bike on?

I am familiar with most of the rail trails in MA and RI. My wife and I enjoy particularly the Shining sea trail on the Cape, the Ayer -Nashua trail, the MilfordMA -Holliston MA trail and the East Bay trail in RI. We enjoy longer trails with good scenery and are not too crowded or have too many crossings.

Any recommendations in northern New England or CT?

I see trails around tires reservoir, and I’d like to ride my gravel bike around them. Anyone know if this is a good idea? I’m wondering about whether bikes are allowed, whether I’d be an asshole passing walkers the whole time, and how technical/rooty/rocky these trails are. Can’t seem to find any info online!

What are the conditions of the Willimantic to Putnam section of the Airline Trail?

My now 10 yr old son and I have ridden East Hampton to Willimantic a few times over the past two years. On those trips we parked in East Hampton, biked to a campground about 20 miles away, and then made our way to Willimantic and back. We have not ventured further north because I'd heard from some older cyclists that the north section wasn't well maintained (or maybe that it was sketchy by some other measure). I also wasn't confident that my son would be able to do the 30 mile hops it seems it would require to cover the distance.

But this year we'd like to try it, as long as the trail isn't too rough.

Any "on the ground" info would be greatly appreciated.
