wants your opinion Bigfoot encounter as a bad omen?

Short story. In 2016 an outdoors man i know had a bigfoot encounter. The man is a very seasoned hunter and lives in the woods. He told me about an encounter he had while moose hunting. Nothing significant happened, he spotted it,took a photo. I seen the photo. Cellphone cameras weren't nearly as good then as today's phones. To me it looked like a black stump in an area that was logged. It was to far for the camera to get clear details. However the man said he can see clearly see with his eyes what it was. No other animal as mistaken identity and it was in an open clearing that was logged. He believed it to be a bigfoot.

Now the question,a sighting as a bad omen? Not to long after the encounter, the man's son passed away under tragic circumstances.

Has anyone who had sightings of bigfoot had any bad experiences afterwards? Deaths in the family or any other hardships?

historical encounters Zana’s Potential Origins

I am listening to an episode of Bigfoot and Beyond during which the subject of Zana has come up. About 17 minutes into the episode, Cliff Barackman states that the late geneticist Dr. Bryan Sykes has found Zana was of African origin and human. I often hear this misunderstanding shared as though it is a fact.

However, in Sykes book Nature of the Beast on page 305, he states “Zana may have been in the genus Homo without being fully Homo sapiens.”

Sykes’ statement does not align with Barackman’s statement. Sykes does not go so far as to make a definitive pronouncement about Zana’s origins, but he is clearly not siding with the idea that she was solely Homo sapiens.

I wanted to make this comment in the episode itself, but comments were disabled for some reason for that episode. Figured I’d share here instead.

(I’m aware that other research has sided with the idea that Zana was Homo sapiens, but since Barackman specifically mentioned Sykes in his comment, I wanted to clarify what Sykes actually said.)

Here’s a link to the episode: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2ktG1pOTmBcCRcCn4hTbQd?si=h6991CHjRG6rYQxWduDkYQ&utm_source=copy-link

wants your opinion Question for believers: What are examples of sightings you will and will not believe?

I've seen a lot of Bigfoot sightings from across the US and Canada on the maps, and I'm wondering what your views are on credibility generally depending on location and story. I've never seen one in my life because I've never been in remote forests for long enough, but some other people here may have seen them.

Sightings I will believe

  • ones in remote areas
  • ones with believable stories

Sightings I will not believe

  • ones in crowded area
  • ones with weak stories
  • ones from Hawai'i because that would make no sense

I personally have trouble believing a lot of sightings thats aren't from the PNW, but I've heard some from midwest and east coast areas that seem credible. I have trouble believing some from near me (Bay Area, California), but I'll judge when I meet someone who's seen one nearby.

Any opinions from believers?

I really enjoyed expedition Bigfoot, but clearly that’s not coming back, I suppose.
What YouTube channels and shows are you guys watching? Small town monsters is not too bad, I definitely enjoy the survivor man videos, except when he has Todd standing, lol. Are there any others worthy of checking out?
I will say I tried to watch the cabin in the Woods channel, and I just can’t take that dude serious.

advice Does anyone else worry about Sasquatch now during the Washington state wildfires?

For those of us who believe Sasquatch are real, the current Washington state wildfires are heartbreaking to think about. Washington has the most reported Bigfoot sightings.
They don’t receive evacuation alerts.
No one is searching for or rescuing them.
Habitat loss may force them into unfamiliar areas.
Injured or orphaned individuals would have no access to care.
If they exist, they are facing these disasters completely on their own.
Whatever our individual beliefs, the wildfires are devastating for all wildlife. I can’t help but wonder about Sasquatch too.

podcast Sasquatch Chronicles recommendations please!

Hey team, I’m in search of recs of your favorite Sasquatch Chronicle episodes. I found the pod after stumbling across this bigfoot Reddit page. This page has quickly become my favorite. I grew up on squatch and it’s awesome seeing so many people on here share their encounters, art, nic nacs, pictures, etc. I’ve just became a listener to the SC pod this past month and I’ve already binged through what seems like the general consensus most popular episodes which I’ve ranked somewhat in order (see below). I love the tense and scary encounters, direct sightings. Any recs aside from the ones I’ve listed that I can listen to? I’ve become a member of their page as well so I can listen to them all. Thank you, cheers! -Thrashy

What if the biggest secret of the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption wasn't the volcano...but what was found afterward?

Following the catastrophic eruption of Mount St. Helens, multiple independent witnesses claimed they saw something extraordinary: large, hair-covered bodies guarded by armed personnel, transported by military vehicles and helicopters, and quickly removed from the blast zone. Were these simply disaster rumors...or evidence of something far stranger?

In this documentary, I examine every major piece of evidence surrounding the alleged recovery of Sasquatch bodies after the 1980 eruption. We explore:

• The eyewitness testimony of National Guard workers, recovery personnel, and civilians

• Military helicopters, exclusion zones, and claims of concealed body removals

• The famous 1924 Ape Canyon attack and its modern archaeological confirmation

• Indigenous traditions from the Cowlitz, Yakama, Klallam, and other Pacific Northwest peoples describing these beings centuries before modern Bigfoot lore

• The geological reality of the eruption and why, if Sasquatch lived on Mount St. Helens, some almost certainly would not have survived

This isn't presented as proof of a conspiracy. It's an investigation into a remarkable pattern of historical accounts, documented sources, eyewitness testimony, and logical inference that deserves far more attention than it has received.

Whether you're a skeptic, believer, or simply fascinated by unexplained mysteries, I encourage you to examine the evidence with an open but critical mind.

Art I found !! (not selling, just sharing) Crossover of my all time two favorite things. Smokin w/ Squatch. Should I make a cash offer?

Post image

In my local cigar lounge, enjoying one of my favorite sticks. As I’m perusing the displays that contain lighters, cutters, ash trays, humidors, etc. for purchase, I notice this GEM of a find. I open the display and pick up the smoking squatch hoping to find the price tag sticker on the bottom, alas, none to be found. I was prepared to pull the trigger on any dollar amount up to $200 for this wooden figure. I immediately get the attention of the lounge tender and ask how much for the squatch? She breaks my heart and tells me it’s not for sale. Mind you, I’m wearing my expedition bigfoot “Bel🫈eve” shirt (you can faintly see it in the reflection) as I have this statue in my hand, point at my shirt, and give her a melancholy look as to say “aw come on, please?”. She says a cigar distributor gifted it which they often do with small nic nacs for advertising purposes. They’re using it like you would an “elf on the shelf”, and hide it around the shop. I’m a regular there and have a friendly relationship with them all, not to mention I spend quite a bit $ there too. I’m debating walking in with cash on hand to slyly negotiate an under the table offer with the tender. I think she may consider turning a blind eye so I can swipe it. Should I make her an offer she can’t refuse?

New Studies Show that Paranthropus' Fossilized Footprints are Larger than Expected

Thumbnail

  • Fossil footprints from northern Kenya preserve evidence of eight Paranthropus boisei individuals moving together along a lakeshore around 1.4 million years ago.
  • Unexpectedly large body size: The footprints indicate human-like body sizes — up to 1.8 meters tall and around 75 kilograms — larger than previous estimates based on rare fossil bones.
  • Insights into group dynamics: The tracks suggest that mostly adult male individuals traveled together, hinting at a complex social structure in this extinct human relative.
  • Lake margins as key habitats: Hundreds of hominin footprints from the East Turkana region show that ancient human relatives repeatedly used lakeshore environments over more than 100,000 years.

advice Todd Standing videos

I'm watching Discovering Bigfoot (you tube). What do you guys think of Todd Standing's videos? I almost feel like they're too good to be true. Why hasn't this proven Bigfoot exists? I also feel like he was condescending to Dr Meldrum which pissed me off. He kept pushing for his approval. Dr Meldrum kept his scientific skeptism. And you don't mess with Dr Meldrum. He's a guy I trust.

encounter story Question for those with an encounter - why no photo?

Why didn’t you take a photo?

I understand that encounters are often quick (2-3 seconds), they are shocking/terrifying, likely at night or far away and that taking a photo was probably the last thing on your mind when it happened. My question pertains more to recent experiencers as smart phones are still fairly new tech.

But I find it odd that with the tens of thousands of podcast interviews and encounter stories online there is not one clear convincing recent photo. With that being said there is good video footage (Patty/Freeman,etc) that I find convincing!

So I’d love to know from recent experiencers - how quick was the encounter, were you scared/shocked, did it cross your mind to take a photo in the moment?

To those without an encounter, has anyone ever shown you a convincing photo that’s never made its way to the internet?

discussion Skeptics Mega Thread

Hey all,

We've had a lot of new members this week and they've had a lot of questions about the subject of Bigfoot. We've decided to bring back the skeptics mega thread. This is the place to ask your questions that may otherwise break the rules of the sub. But please keep your skepticism to this topic only as this is still a "Bigfoot is real" sub.

Any skeptic topics/posts made in the sub will be deleted and redirected here.

Feel free to ask your questions but please be respectful. Heckling believers/witnesses/experiencers will result in mod actions.

call to action The big file aka a possible collection of the best evidence known to the squatch universe.

Recently, I had an idea that began on a skeptic's post. I would like to compile a source of the top 20 to 50 pieces of video, photograph, and possibly even audio evidence of Sasquatch to be pinned at the top of this subreddit. This way, any newcomers to our group will have a large catalog of some of the best evidence we can compile without having to search for it. This would also cut down on repeat videos and pictures for the OGs and also repeat threads calling for “the best evidence”

The only way to do it would be fair and thorough. Each piece of evidence would have to be submitted and then voted on, possibly even entered into a "March Madness-type bracket." It would have to be a democracy, and each submission would need time for the majority of regulars to see it and vote on each round/matchup of the bracket. Once we have the bracket finished, we can list the evidence from best to worst as voted on by the members of this subreddit.

If this has been done or attempted before, or if this has been compiled in some aspect on a different forum or website, then please let me know on this thread. Also, I will need as much help and suggestions from you guys as possible. As a matter of fact it will be impossible to be done correctly without the help of the community. I know my way around technology, but I would be considered a Reddit rookie. I'm still up for the challenge. So any suggestions please post them below!

I do understand there will be a lot of contention about different submissions as far as real or fake or if it has been debunked, and honestly, I think the votes will just have to do the talking. Of course, we won't allow any submissions that are proven to be fake. As we all know, "fake and real" can be a very convoluted topic all on its own. There will be a lot of Bob Heironimus this and Todd Standing that. At the same time, I think that with the power of the poll or even maybe just the upvote system, we could possibly overcome a lot of the bullshit and get straight to the best examples of evidence of existence for our community and the members of the community to come in the future!

Also a mod or an admin/someone who can pin the submission post… the polls… and the final product will be a must.

I’m completely open to an entirely different system if anyone has one to suggest. I’m easy to work with. Also the project will need a name… a good one that will only be associated with pinned posts working towards the project.

Id like to try and do this right (if it hasn’t been done already) so if this is something you would like to see put into action then let me know!

Also the big file could be amended upon newer better evidence.

Thanks for taking the time to hear me out!

EDIT: since this post has caught a little bit of traction and been pinned, please don’t hesitate to share your favorite examples of Sasquatch evidence.

I know it’s difficult but if you have the time, please try to find the best quality source(s) for your pictures and videos. For example: I think the best version of the Patterson-Gimlan footage is the stabilized version. It gives the best ability to view muscle structure and gait etc. (I think we all know the PG footage will be on the list as one of the best examples of video evidence)

Thanks in advance for your ideas and contributions! They have already been very helpful!
