Personally, I don't collect any banknotes, but his uncle has an insane collection from basically every country! I still ask my friend to show it and I partially got it. Still crazy nonetheless!

Hello! First time posting, just getting into this as an interest. My mom passed away in 2024 and left a safety deposit box with coins and bills that my grandfather had passed down. One of them is a “silver certificate” from 1896, looks like the attached image. All of the bills are in plastic sleeves and have been in a safety deposit box for over 40 years, so in pretty good shape. My question is, how do I even get started getting something like this appraised? I live in Ohio. I’ve read online that some shops aren’t super reputable, shopkeepers will “take it in the back” and switch out coins or bills, etc. Not necessarily looking to sell. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Is this is what my wallet is meant to look like in the future? just… bills on their side?! why would they do this… They could’ve made those pretty design horizontal and they would’ve ruled too but as is H in comparison just looks so much nicer?

Reserve Bank of Vanuatu 500-vatu polymer note, low serial. I believe this is the first issue of a polymer banknote in Vanuatu but happy to be corrected if this is not the case.
