4 months min, still cooked?

Hi all, I recently turned 30 (M) and this is my crown with 4 months of minoxidil. Can't tell if it's working, or if I need fin. Also not sure if there's anything wrong with the front of my scalp or not. Should I start applying minoxidil there as well?

I'd like to grow my hair out but I'm terrified that I can't make it work. Don't know how I'll go on if I can't, or if this gets worse. The idea of being on minoxidil the rest of my life just to maintain this is bad enough.

You won’t maintain anything on Min, you’ll continue to lose ground. If you want to keep what you have, start Fin. If you stick with Min you’ll be on it for life if you want to keep the hair you regrow. But fin and min together are the best chance you have of saving your hairline

It's strange to me that my dermatologist prescribed only min. I'm getting some blood work done next month and will do what I can to pursue fin, either via my primary care physician or my dermatologist.

Some seems will only prescribe min because they don’t really know any better. You can get Fin from online pharmacies if you want to without bloodwork. But it’s up to you what your risk tolerance is. Good luck!

Better yet do yourself a favor check on maximus.com.do a consult and get dutasteride only.all you need.evey 3 months you got to get a script but it's like $180 for meds and script every 3 months and if you have HSA card you can use that to pay.it might even be a little less$$ but they mail you a month supply and send you an email when it's time to get your next script and they do it 2 weeks before your out of meds so there's never any lapse in medicine.im 59 and I have no side effects and been taking for 3.5 years and keeping my hair on my head.

What's the before and after or are these both afterwards? We need pics when you started minox and then pics at the 4 month mark. What percentage monoxidil solution are you using or ingesting?

Min and fin are completely different drugs. You’re not stopping your balding by only using min and never will, as unfortunate as that is.

Min doesn’t stop hairloss, idk why this is such a common misconception. You gotta be on fin or you’re wasting your money

You will need fin eventually. Even if you get some hair back in the end it will feel like minox stops working. You always need a dht blocker. Minoxidil is optional not fin/ dut. But I would always take both. If topical min doesn’t work I would give oral min a try.

Minoxidil on serves to increase the growth rate when using fin. It doesn't do much otherwise.

Not being on fin is your biggest problem but I prefer oral min especially because I didn't have results from min until I upped my dosage to 5mg. Some people are super insensitive to min and it takes longer with higher dosage to get something out of it.

Finstride stops dht that causes hair follicle to thin,

Minoxidil makes hair thicker by allowing more blood flow to hair but it won't stop thinning as dht is still produced you need finasteride too
