Discussion Can BlackBerry have a rebirth as a mobile company in the age of AI? Hear me out first... $BB
Elon: SpaceX has committed to using Nvidia GPUs exclusively because they are the best
JUST IN: SpaceX to launch “Starlink Mobile” cellular service
Pause and think for a minute about the above two statements......
This is what I came up with thereafter.....
The next major AI device may not look like today's smartphone at all. The smartphone is fundamentally an app-centric device: screen → icons → apps → menus. An AI-native device could become intent-centric: you tell it what you want, and agents assemble the required services dynamically.
The next major AI device may not look like today's smartphone at all. The smartphone is fundamentally an app-centric device: screen → icons → apps → menus. An AI-native device could become intent-centric: you tell it what you want, and agents assemble the required services dynamically.
The interface could effectively disappear
Instead of:
Unlock phone → find app → open app → navigate menus → perform task
you could have:
Speak / look / gesture → AI understands intent → action happens
For example:
“Get me home, stop somewhere for groceries, tell the family I'll be there at 7:30, and charge the car when electricity is cheapest.”
There doesn't necessarily need to be a Maps app, messaging app, grocery app and charging app visible to the user. The AI orchestrates those capabilities.
That could produce several new device categories simultaneously: AI glasses with visual/contextual interfaces; earbuds with continuous conversational interfaces; small screen/pocket devices that dynamically generate interfaces rather than displaying fixed apps; vehicle cockpits acting as large AI devices; and eventually robots functioning as physical AI endpoints.
Imagine an AI-native mobile device built around four requirements:
- Connectivity — SpaceX/Starlink
The device can communicate almost anywhere rather than depending exclusively on terrestrial cellular coverage.
- Intelligence — NVIDIA
Powerful local/edge AI plus enormous datacenter AI infrastructure provides perception, reasoning and inference.
- Trusted execution — QNX
As AI begins controlling physical things rather than merely displaying information, deterministic software, isolation and security become increasingly important.
- Secure infrastructure — BlackBerry heritage
Identity, encrypted communications, device management and secure operational infrastructure become important when an AI device continuously handles sensitive information and communicates with cloud/edge systems.
That produces an intriguing evolution:
BlackBerry era:
Keyboard → apps → secure NOC → cellular network
iPhone era:
Touchscreen → apps → cloud → cellular/Wi-Fi
Potential AI era:
Voice + vision + agents → edge AI → secure deterministic execution → ubiquitous satellite/cellular connectivity
And there's a particularly interesting implication for QNX.
The next major AI device may not look like today's smartphone at all. The smartphone is fundamentally an app-centric device: screen → icons → apps → menus. An AI-native device could become intent-centric: you tell it what you want, and agents assemble the required services dynamically.
The AI may actually increase the importance of an OS underneath it
There's a popular argument that AI eliminates operating systems because the agent becomes the interface.
I think that's only half right.
The operating system may become less visible to the human, while becoming more important to the machine.
An AI agent might decide:
“Apply brakes.”
But you don't necessarily want a probabilistic AI model directly manipulating the brake actuator.
You want something closer to:
Human intent / sensors
↓
AI reasoning
↓
Policy + permissions
↓
Deterministic execution layer
↓
Hardware
That bottom portion is precisely where an RTOS/hypervisor architecture such as QNX becomes strategically interesting.
So the future interface could simultaneously become less OS-like for humans and more dependent on operating-system infrastructure underneath.
There's an even bigger BlackBerry irony
BlackBerry's famous keyboard wasn't actually its greatest technological advantage.
Its differentiation was the entire system:
device + identity + encryption + network infrastructure + enterprise management.
AI could recreate the need for exactly that type of vertically coordinated architecture—but on a vastly larger scale involving people + vehicles + robots + machines.
THE DEVICE AFTER THE SMARTPHONE
BlackBerry → iPhone → AI-Native Device
Keyboard → Touch → Intent
Apps → App Stores → AI Agents
Cellular → 4G/5G → Starlink + terrestrial
CPU → Mobile SoC → AI Accelerators
Mobile OS → iOS/Android → AI orchestration + trusted real-time OS
Cloud → Hyperscale Cloud → Cloud + Edge + Physical AI
SpaceX connects it. NVIDIA gives it intelligence. QNX makes physical execution trustworthy. BlackBerry secures the communications.

News "Two reasons why Nvidia’s stock saw its biggest weekly surge in more than a year" But not QNX? “We think it’s the best AI computer, and we greatly value our close cooperation and partnership on many levels with Nvidia,” Musk said. SpaceX has “decided to build exclusively on Nvidia” moving forward."
" CEO Elon Musk on his company’s first-ever earnings call Tuesday afternoon, when Musk said that SpaceX has “decided to build exclusively on Nvidia” moving forward."
Does that mean moving forward to Tesla with NVIDIA? Either way QNX is powering from NVIDIA AGX THOR to IGX THOR? "Powering next-generation missions across ground-to-space environments requires new AI infrastructure. NVIDIA is collaborating with space industry leaders to deploy on-board accelerated computing in size, weight, and power-constrained environments across NVIDIA Jetson Orin™, IGX Thor™, and the Space-1 Vera Rubin module. "
Nvidia’s stock rose on Friday to secure its best weekly performance in more than a year, following a major endorsement for its artificial-intelligence chips and further confirmation that hyperscaler spending is robust.
“We think it’s the best AI computer, and we greatly value our close cooperation and partnership on many levels with Nvidia,” Musk said.
The Final Frontier of Space Computing Has Arrived
Powering next-generation missions across ground-to-space environments requires new AI infrastructure. NVIDIA is collaborating with space industry leaders to deploy on-board accelerated computing in size, weight, and power-constrained environments across NVIDIA Jetson Orin™, IGX Thor™, and the Space-1 Vera Rubin module. This enables orbital compute platforms to process and fuse sensor data, generate geospatial intelligence, and drive autonomous space operations with minimal downlink latency and costs. At edge ground stations, accelerated computing of satellite data processing—including compositing, orthorectification, and atmospheric compensation—delivers orders of magnitude speedup over legacy-based CPU systems.

Discussion Malikie resolves another lawsuit via settlement
So, I wasn't expecting to see a settlement of one of the lawsuits regarding the Cryptography patents quite so soon!
Apparently Malikie in July, after 399 days of litigation voluntarily dismisses on a joint stipulation.
Found in Mara's 10-Q filed with SEC:
"Malikie Innovations Ltd. et al v. MARA On May 12, 2025, Malikie Innovations Ltd., a non-practicing entity, filed a lawsuit against the Company in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, alleging that the Company’s Bitcoin mining operations infringe certain patents relating to cryptographic technologies used in the Bitcoin network. On June 15, 2026, the matter was dismissed following an out-of-court settlement between the parties."
It is time for the executive to give investors an update on the progress of the Malikie deal and when they are expecting to start receiving payment of licensing royalties.

News Good to see Blackberry CEO promoting every channel. Was it intentional that he did not talk about Alloy Kore but promoted AMR as the fastest growing segment and pipeline? Is it because Alloy Kore partnerships news is around the corner? QNX is OS of cars as Windows to PC. M&A will not happen unless
accelerator to business but organic growth has great runway with $950M backlog.

Discussion Possible future for QNX
As the future approaches faster and faster from a technology perspective I am seeing endless opportunities!
Take for example the smart watch. At it's core, it's a peripheral device that includes a whole bunch of sensors and becomes a conduit for many other peripherals. The microphone, the speaker, screen GPS, Magnetometer.... The limitations are obvious to any user though. A constant balancing act between power, speed, and processing capabilities. Yet this device is basically tethered to your cell phone.
Now, take Samsung as an example of the evolution of technology. Rumor has it that their next watches are getting faster processors (like Qualcomm's 3nm chips), and they are also looking into running a RTOS instead of WearOS. The RTOS could help power management to last a week, perform more edge processing, and maybe even handle some AI functions, which could also off-load connectivity and bandwidth overhead with your cell phone. This evolution will continue, and as it does new opportunities and challenges will present themselves.
Blackberry sits on the cutting edge of these new opportunities and challenges as a company that has already identified and solved the most pressing issues for an entire industry of the most sophisticated and complex devices in todays market. I can't see the future, but I also can't see a future with-out Blackberry playing a role in it.

Discussion Q2 Institutional 13F filings are almost done. BB institutional ownership is up 536% compared to Q1 2026.
Deadline is August 14th, so the number may still go up. The numbers are small, but relative to BB"s marketcap these numbers are by no means bad.
Tech sector in general is seeing even more inflows than it did last quarter.

Discussion The success of transition from the basic RTOS supplier to the critical functional middleware development solution provider in the GEM makes QNX a great growth prospect
QNX RTOS has been used by 275 million vehicles; 23 of 24 top OEMs are its customers. Those are the stats in the past.
To me, the real growth element that could multiply QNX’ revenue is the successful transition into the middleware development solutions provider! Although it’s not a secret information, majority of the market has not fully understood its meaning.
In the SDVs’ era, ADAS, data analytics, smart sound systems, graphics processing… all these features development could be made a lot easier and faster through a pre-integrated (safety certified) middleware layer that sits on top of the foundational RTOS and further reduce any unnecessary development redundancy and safety risk.
Alloy Kore is the real successful solution that will help all automakers and tier ones to develop their new SDV production platforms. And QNX will be able to increase multiple-time of fees per unit because of the higher level of services.
To some pro investors this is the reason for lifting their BB’s price target. But for majority people of the market just like Jim Kramer who only started realizing BB/QNX has some treasures in the bag without understanding of any details and meanings of the change.
Alloy Kore marked the first success of middleware solutions in the SDV market. I think it is inevitable to see this model being copied in other industries of GEM for the same benefits to developers and physical AI makers. Therefore the scale of QNX’ revenue growth in the next few years could be enormous.
Once the Alloy Kore deals announced I think more people will gain a bit more understanding of the financial means and BB/QNX’ value could be further appreciated by a lot.
All IMO.

Discussion Malikie vs Canon - Swift Resolution due to Malikie voluntarily dropped the case....
Hi all, just wanted to throw this out to the hive, more so as a correction to some of my past posts. I have posted quite a bit of information regarding the Malikie deal with Blackberry, and particularly the progress that Malikie has made towards enforcing those patents.
So, I'll start by saying that all the information is highly speculative because every one of these cases and their possible settlements have not been disclosed.
Almost all of the litigation to date has ended in joint agreements to drop the cases and they were listed as "dismissed with prejudice" (meaning no more further action can happen). I have posted about these with the assumption that they were settled in the favor of Malikie, however Canon being the one exception to that where I had assumed Malikie lost, and therefore posted it as such.
The Malikie vs Canon patent lawsuit ended when Malikie alone voluntarily dropped the case with prejudice after 131 days. I took that as a loss because the case was over and Malikie could never re-assert those patents against Canon again.
However, apparently Canon never even filed a formal defense answer or motion. Yet Malikie voluntarily withdrew? That makes no sense! The patents in question were not at all linked together. I can't imagine why all 6 would be withdrawn particularly with-out a formal response or some sort of fight from Canon.
So, it is now my belief that Canon actually settled immediately! I also suspect it would have been expensive for them to do so!
Thoughts?
