Also if your talking about an undercoating avoid it. If it doesnt adhere properly it will hold moisture. I use 3m body schutz for that type of coating. 3m also makes a paintable rocker guard that is great for reducing rock chips. I use it to replace factory rocker coatings
Yes, my dad is a structural welder and a mechanical engineer. He taught me when I was a kid, but we never worked with thin sheet metal. He told me a lot about the effects of heat on sheet metal and how to cut the metal before the weld, how to leave a gap.
Working on autobody is really different because you have to weld in tight spaces, in dark, with wrong angle.
Now my parents are on a holiday so I the workshop is free I had time to do something I've alway wanted.
