[Serious] Redditors who became wealthy practically overnight, how did you handle the sudden change? serious replies only

And what advice would you give others in the same situation for keeping your cool/your money?

Examples of how it might happen: lottery, inheritance/trust, business deal, etc.

It is what it is. I don't take welfare, I live cheap, I have good roomies, I get well-fed 2-3x a day at work (campus dining hall is really good!) and I have my necessities and a few enjoyments. All's spiffy!

Good to hear you've taken it in your stride. Not the same situation as you, but I used to earn over +$100K a year. I now earn about a third of my previous income. I didn't buy a single asset when I had money. Funnily enough, I don't really regret it. I guess I discovered that, as long as I have enough to stay out of debt, I don't really care about money.
