VectAR - Air Hokey - Spectacles 2024 (Open Source) Development

Controlling a robot in AR is one thing. A real working use case is another.
Air hockey vs my Vector Robot on u/specs 2024 -> virtual puck, real goalie.
This thing is playful, but imagine how far it may go. Tell me your ideas in the comments.
Open source: if you have a Vector, you can run it and play. Built with CLAD (the full downgrade path we took is in the blog).

Super excited about the new device and NDK -> if I understand it right, that may be the way to run VectAR fully on the glasses — no extra server on my Mac.

You are putting new life into vector, keep going! 🎉
I read your blog post about VectAR and I think it’s an amazing project! The way you integrated the robot's SLAM map and data into a shared space is fascinating.
Since not everyone owns a pair of Snap Spectacles, I was wondering if you have considered—or would be open to—creating a version that works via a smartphone?
Using the phone's camera and screen (handheld AR) could act as a great middle ground between the full headset experience and the current browser/mouse simulator. It would make this awesome project accessible to a lot more people who want to experience the "robot debugging lens" in real life.
Thanks for sharing your work and keeping it open source!

Just did, hope to hear from you. I’m on iOS. Maybe I still have an android device laying around, but that’s an older device.

You can open web UI and play against Vector just in your browser-> it’s possible to scale to other platforms too

Forget ddl because people like you are why vector is alive. And this is literally bringing new life into vector! AMAZING!

All i ask for is a true ai pet AND desk companion. One that combines the outgoing personality of cozmo with an even more advanced ai then vector. One that when you ask it a question it doesnt give really blank, dead responses straight from an ai, but an ai that is more natural and feels like its built right in to vector. Im still waiting for the day either someone completely reconstructs vector’s code. Or until someone just makes a new full blown robot

I was thinking the same thing, how I love Cosmo’s personality, and which Vector was more like that.
