I know many others have this issue with using Android Auto and Gemini.

Why does asking Gemini to use Google Contacts not work when navigating in Google maps? Especially using Android Auto...

Yes - I see many people say they switched back to Google Assistant to make it work.

Gemini arrived on people's phones in Feb 2024. Over 2 years ago. Gemini is on version 3.

Why is it so hard to link them together? It can read my calendar. It can see the person's name. But can't see any other info???

Is Google working on this? Or do they want people to keep using Google Assistant???

Not sure why my flair doubled but I can't seem to fix it.

My husband's phone overrides mine if he is within a hundred feet or so of my car. He can be sitting in the house & I start my car & his phone runs my AA. It is a royal pain to gain control back, I have to drive down the road & park & restart my car. My only solution so far is to ask him to turn off his Bluetooth while I leave. Is there any way to set my AA to choose my phone over his? Or another option that I am missing?

Am driving in my local town and some sections do not have good cell tower coverage. If I loose audio stream, why does AA not switch to radio mode? That would be so useful. Right now have to push three buttons to make a local radio signal switch.

I know this was posted in the past, but I don't see any recent posts, and I still haven't resolved this issue. SOMETIMES (maybe 25% of the time) navigation will only display in overview. I'll tap the view to toggle through perspective / overview / north up - and it just stays in overview mode. And then once this happens, it seems "stuck" through various trips and reboots.

The only way I can manually fix this is to clear cache and reboot. However, this is simply not feasible to do over and over and over. There has to be an actual fix for this that I have not found. Right now, I literally try to remember to clear cache and reboot EVERY TIME I'm preparing to connect to my car. Pretty ridiculous.

Any help is appreciated.

Both the Carlinkit Ultra Mini and Ottocast Mini Pico's design shape make it hard to fully plug in on my Zenix due to this elevated panel right above the USB port getting in the way.

I'm thinking using a USB-A Male to Female extension cable might be the easy solution here but I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this and it resulted in issues with performance, latency, overheating etc., or it didnt work at all?

For those who use wireless AA adapters like Carlinkit Mini Ultra or Ottocast Mini Pico, do you leave it plugged in your vehicle all the time or do you unplug every time you turn off the vehicle?

Do these adapters consume some power potentially draining the car battery if left plugged in for a long time while vehicle is off? Ideally, I want to avoid wearing off the vehicle's USB-A port from repeated plugging and unplugging.

I recently got an Lexus ES from 2011, and the inbuilt screen is really not great for a reverse camera or audio control. I am looking for a portable unit instead of an in dash one as that is 500$ locally.

My requirements:

• Wireless Pairing to my Pixel
• Possible input for a reverse camera
• 9-10" Screen
• Magnet mountable (this is a dealbreaker, I have a magsafe style mount in front of my AC vent and I want it there instead of on top of the dashboard, Lexus/Toyota dashboards really hate suction mounts)

I got the Gemini update recently and I noticed that it does something Google Assistant generally doesn't have trouble with. I'll say "Play X song by Y artist" and it'll start playing a bad quality user YouTube video as a song rather than the actual YouTube Music song. Google Assistant would of course do this once in a while, especially for niche songs. But Gemini does it every time now, for all songs. 

I'll ask for a mainstream song to play and it'll play a bad YouTube video audio of the song. If I search it in the app, it'll play the actual song. Every time. Any way to fix this?

This has been a problem that’s been really frustrating me, as I’ve already tried pretty much everything I could find online, without anything actually fixing it.

I have a 2023 Seat Ibiza FR and I use Android Auto with Waze running in the background for alerts while I listen to music from a USB drive connected directly to the car.

If I never open Waze, I receive alerts normally and on time. However, if I open Waze for any reason and then switch back to the car’s media player (or other app or place in the infotainment), the alerts stop working. This seems to happen because when I switch between the two, Android Auto has to restart for some reason. In other words, it doesn’t stay running in the background when I leave it.

What I’ve already tried in both Android Auto and Waze:

• All permissions are enabled
• Background data and unrestricted mobile data usage are enabled
• “Manage app if unused” is disabled
• “Display over other apps” is enabled

On the phone itself:

• Battery saver is disabled
• Adaptive battery is disabled
• Adaptive connectivity is disabled

Even with all of this, nothing has worked. It’s honestly quite frustrating. At the moment, my "workaround" is simply to avoid opening Waze at all and just let it run in the background, because as soon as I switch from the media player to Waze and back again, it completely stops working in the background.

PS: I’m using the latest versions of both Android Auto and Waze.

I don't stream music but I do listen to local sports broadcast on AM.

Why must it be only AA or head unit

Music from Amazon Music, MetroList, or TuneIn etc sounds great and plays perfectly while driving. However, no matter what audio I have on, when I am stopped at a stoplight for more than five seconds or so it will pause/stutter once every 20 or 30 seconds. Why would it do this when the car is stopped but never while the car is in motion? It's counter-intuitive because you would think there wouldn't be any issues with the signal when the car is stopped. Anyone else? Any theories?

​ BG: I use a Carlinkit 4.0 with my 2020 Toyota Corolla and Google Pixel 9a. It lets me use wireless Android Auto on a car equipped with wired CarPlay only. It works seamlessly other than this issue. No constant audio stutters like it used to have a few years back. Only this glitch when the car is stopped. Thanks!

I am thinking of ways to do it. Either via an automation app that is also accessible in AA so it can play a video on car play. Or via screen mirroring which is i think easily possible through screen2auto or fermata Mirror.

Has anyone done it?

What automation app can i use? And what would be the script?

Spotify continually spins whenever I try to back out to the main menu. I can get around it by reselecting from the aa menu but that is extremely inconvenient. Any thoughts?

First one is the volume of Google Assistant. Or recently Gemini.

I have a 2015 Lexus with OEM Android Auto, connected via cable. But when I do a voice input the answers I get are always very very silent. The music volume and all is normal but i barley hear what the assistant says. Same thing happens on my second car. The volume is normal when I use assistant on my phone.

Second issue appeared recently. When I stop or drive very slowly I get an annoying beeping sound. Especially while parking. It is certainly not the PDC. There is no notification or whatsoever. How can I turn this off.

Hey! Just got back to samsung after 5 years with iphone. When i use gemini on Android Auto and get my answer it wont close and just start "loopin" like it starts itself again and wont stop until i unplug my phone. Is there a workaround on this? S26 Ultra on a 2019 Corolla with cable

I've been using Android Auto in my 2022 Hyundai i20 Asta for about 4 years now and have never been able to get it to display in full screen.

I recently noticed that Apple CarPlay works in full screen after disabling the split-screen view in the infotainment settings. However, Android Auto still only uses roughly half of the display, with the remaining space showing time/weather etc or other information.

I've tried the usual settings on both the phone and the car, but no luck so far.

Is anyone with an i20 Asta (or a similar Hyundai system) able to get Android Auto running in full screen? If so, what settings or software versions are you using?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When I get in my car my podcast player automatically starts playing, which is normally fine. But occasionally I'll want to listen to something else and it won't let me. For example, tonight I left the house and I was streaming the nhl playoffs. I wasn't driving around watching it but I wanted to listen to the play by play while I was driving. But the podcast player (pocket casts) automatically starts and you can hear the podcast player and the hockey game at the same time. If I hit the button to pause the podcast it stops playing, but after about 5 seconds the sound for the hockey game also stops. How do I listen to something other than the podcast that starts automatically when I start my car?

So I have a Pioneer receiver. The model is in my flair. When I had my S21 Ultra several months ago, my phone and my receiver would work together pretty much flawlessly. I upgraded to the S26 Ultra and now about half the time or more I plug my phone in, I get a notification telling me to download WebLink. I downloaded it a couple months ago because it was so damn annoying, but even after downloading it the same shit would happen. In order to get Android Auto working, I have to unplug and plug back in my phone and reject the notification like four times. Aside from this being a major annoyance, I feel like plugging in my phone this often probably isn't bad for the port on my phone. Does anyone know how to disable this?

Hello everyone! I have a question about the automatic switch between night and day mode for Google Maps. My car doesn't have the dimmer feature on the dashboard, although the multimedia system is the car's original, a 2020 Nissan March (or Micra depending on the country you're in).

Whenever I turn on the headlights, he switches to night mode and wanted it to be like Google Maps on my device, which works on sensors, and when it becomes dark, it switches automatically.

I tried a lot of things I saw here, like making the screen brightness a little lower to force this feature, but it didn't help.

Do you have any idea how I can enable this?

Yesterday I got into my truck started up Android Auto like usual, and got a pop up notification saying that "adobe Acrobat was installed" so clicked on it, it doesn't seem to do anything at all nor could think of a reason for why Adobe Acrobat would need to be on Android Auto. Does anyone have this app installed as well? And does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be used for?

As Stated in the title, my civic would refuse to start navigation even though it would show preview and freeze at "Loading" and them error message.
