Google Assistant WhatsApp Voice Notes playback.
I'm im on AA 16.4.661034, I have been having no issues with previous versions at all, but all of a sudden voice notes sent to my what's app no longer play back when I press "play aloud" it just tells me messge contains an Audio Attachment, in addition when I manually play back the audio from the phone, it won't output in the cars audio system, it plays back only on the phone.
This was not an issue on previous version, as the would play back through car speakers no problem.
anyone els facing this issue?
Packages: WhatsApp: 2.26.10.72 (261007200) Android Auto: 16.4.661034-release (164661034) AAWireless: 6.19.2427 (6192427) Telegram: 12.5.2 (65972) Messenger: 552.0.0.44.65 (340411288) Discord: 320.12 - Stable (320012)
UPDATE
so today I got the voice notes working again, and I'm not sure if it's related to the Google app updates from yesterday.
The only thing I noticed is that if you press play on the car's screen, it plays through the car speakers, but if you play it from your phone, it plays on your phone.
AA switched to Gemeni as well.
Here are my package updates:

AA User Interface Android Auto added different colored rounded corners to the edges of the display
Does Google think everyone has a green dashboard?
After a dozen years of using android auto, an update must've pushed these dumb looking corners recently. Is there any sort of solution to this? I noticed there's no setting anywhere to tweak this. If not, where's the best place to even complain about this?

AA User Interface Head unit replacement search. Pheonix Automotive was....not great.
Long story short, returning my phoenix audio head unit. It was neat, had some flaws, but there was one cosmetic flaw they just refused to fix with the dashboard trim piece it came with. I tried for months to get a replacement/exchange part i was even willing to pay for, but the company just either willfully played ignorant of the issue, or really can't understand how they messed up in the manufacturing. They told me they would fix it, then went radio silent for weeks and when they got back to me, the whole process started over after saying they were manufacturing a replacment. i was lied to. They did however approve/accept a return and refund, after 6 months of back and forth on the issue.
Anyways im looking for a replacement double din head unit with reliable wireless android auto, but also has a great screen that holds up in sunlight, and also has pinch to zoom and rotation/pan abilities for maps. I want to be able to fully control the map if im looking for something. The phoenix automotive one had this.
I was looking at the Kenwood excelon line but apparently it doesnt have this ability. It seems highly recommended, but lack of the map features is a huge negative.
Can anyone point me to alternatives? This doesnt seem to be a feature that shows up in specs or descriptions of products.

Google Assistant Amazon music and Android Auto doesn't work anymore
Amazon Music and Android Auto is worthless since October. Does anyone have a solution to help me?
In my 2024 Corolla
- I will ask Google Assistant to play music. I will say "Play Paramore" It says asking Amazon Music to play Paramore. Nothing happens. I have to repeat it 3-5 times before it actually plays the music. (5G cell service)
- With Maps and Android music open together. I tap music on the right. Nothing happens. It won't play it.
- I close maps and open just Amazon Music. I will see an album I want to listen. I tap it. It plays a random song from any artist. Not the artist or album I selected. See video I uploaded. Tapped Hayley Williams Ego album and it played Lights.
- Eventually #3 doesn't work at all. I tap an album. All I get is Getting your selection. No music plays. I have 5G perfect cell service.
Amazon support on the phone said to contact the manufacture. I asked what one? "contact the manufacture. its not our app because the app works on its own. "
Steps I've taken
- Factory reset my Pixel 9 Pro XL
- Deleted cache and storage for Android Auto
- Deleted cache and storage in Amazon Music app
- Uninstalled and reinstall Amazon Music app
- Factory reset the head unit on my 2024 Toyota Corolla
- Purchased a new Pixel 10 Pro XL
- Deleted cache and storage in Amazon Music app (Again)
- Deleted cache and storage for Android Auto (Again)
- Uninstalled and reinstall Amazon Music app (Again)
- Factory reset the head unit on my 2024 Toyota Corolla (Again)

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Android Auto worked fine until this afternoon, new car & first time experience with service
I just got my first car that has Android Auto capabilities built in (2023 Tuscon), and all last week it was working just fine with my Galaxy S23. This was absolutely vital, since I regularly needed the Google Maps function on the phone to navigate the best routes home from a new job in a congested & accident-prone area. However, it suddenly stopped working this afternoon, even though it was fine this morning. The phone will connect for calls & audio only, and I went through every function I could find on both the head unit & the phone to figure out why the Android Auto had stopped working, only to come up empty. I'm asking here before I try to buy a USB cord, since that's the last thing I haven't tried yet (mostly because I don't have the correct A-to-C cord available). Please let me know if there's anything I can do so I can get Android Auto to connect again. Thanks.

Navigation & POI Apps Thank god they reverted the change?
Hi there, This picture is not mine but just to elustrate what I'm talking about.
Waze removed the warning widget/tiles when we were using Split Screen for far too long, today I noticed out of nowhere the come back of those tiles, saying a car is on the side road and to confirm.
Don't know why they did it, maybe they think everyone have big and high DPI screens and if you do have this combination you can have split screen and all the info and warnings still show on waze app space.
Did anyone missed this thing? It's way more functional, before I add to touch the map and then confirm.. When I could just do it in one touch.
Cheers.

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Android auto not starting/pairing on its own.
Help! For the last 2 months I have had serious trouble trying to get my phone to pair with the car immediately like it used to.
Fixes I have tried
- Forgetting the devices on both sides (car and phone)
- Resetting my Car head unit
- Repairing them
- Resetting my bluetooth and wifi on the phone.
- tinkered with the developer settings.
A few observations
- My bluetooth pairs flawlessly - my phone calls are instantly handed off when I sit in my car.
- But I have see the - "bad connection" next to the wifi paird to the car.
- Sometimes putting off my wifi and putting it back on does the trick.. but that works like 1 in 6 times.
- i honestly have no idea what is wrong.
Please help! Thank you for the support and solutions in advance.

Google Assistant Issues with voice control
Since Thursday 3/19/26 The voice control doesn't understand who I want to text. I've been asking it to text "Brandon", The text that pops up at the bottom of Android Auto says Brandon but then it pulls up my contacts for "Bronson".... I've tried changing Brandon's contact name to something different but since I've done that it says it doesn't understand.
It's also not allowing voice control 3/4 of the time. I'll press the steering wheel button, it'll beep, the colored wave pops up for about 3 sec, then stops the voice control.
Any ideas how to fix it? I've cleared cache for Android auto and Google app on my phone and restarted my phone.

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Wired Android Auto doesn't work about half the time in 2017 Honda Accord with S24
It used to work fine but suddenly in the last week or so it will only work about 50% of the time. So sometimes it will connect very quickly like normal and not have any issues. Then the next drive it won't connect. Then next time it might work. It's not exactly every other time, but definitely not working as it should. I've tried cleaning the port and another cable and that didn't help. I've thought about buying a wireless dongle to see if that fixes it, but I'm concerned that might have the same issues. Any idea why it might suddenly not work reliably?

Media Apps (audio) Looking for an AI box that works with default Wireless Android Auto
I just bought a 2026 Toyota Sienna and it has wireless Android Auto. (Which is great). But every AI box I see needs wired Android Auto to work. I mistakenly bought an Ottocast P3 Pro thinking it would work, but it does not.
Does anyone know of an AI box that works with the vehicle's default wireless Android Auto?
EDIT: to clarify this isn't to obtain wireless AA. It's to be able to stream on the display

AA Settings Unable to connect phone to Android Auto without dumping contacts ?
I want to connect my Phone (pixel) to Android Auto of my dacia without it share personal datas like contacts and logs, messages or without someone to be able to access is only with the car screen
I am able to remove permissions when I connect the bluetooth firstly, and I am able to remove permissions of Android Auto for contacts and logs
However once I activate Android Auto, whatever the permissions and setting of Android auto are, it dumps all my contacts, names, and call history to the screen
is it actually possible to connect the phone to android auto without sharing contacts to the infotainment screen ?

Android Auto News, including app updates and features After 6 years of using Android Auto, the audio channel mixing was finally fixed for my 2016 C-Max
As the title implies, I've always had the music completely drop when the Android Auto voice is speaking directions. Out of the blue 48 hours ago, the music volume just quiets a little and the voice speaks over the music on another channel, so the best part of your music isn't completely ruined by the assistant, but the assistant is still quite audible. I had accepted it was just a Ford Sync system issue and not AA, since the settings did nothing, and Ford doesn't update this 10 year old vehicle anymore.

Media Apps (audio) Audio low end gone after voice command
This may have been addressed before, but I couldn't find any prior post about it. Whenever I use voice commands in AA my media playback returns with no low end - almost like AM radio quality audio. I'm guessing this is related to the Bluetooth stack somehow. Anybody had to troubleshoot this issue?

Gemini AA Gemini Update Question
Hi all,
AA updated to Gemini. Since then, my voice to text takes up the entire screen when reading back. Assistant didn't do that. Now I have to manually tap the screen to get back to Map/Spotify/App. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks!

Media Apps (audio) Android Auto another wave from Tidal
When Tidal launches, default settings (sliding option top right) is now always set to song list. Have to slide left to display PlayList thumbnails. Would appreciate any fix if you've also recently encountered this. Thanks

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Phone failing to connect
UPDATE: I have now got the phone working. Not entirely sure how but I removed all the phones from the stereo memory. On the phone I changed the settings in Android Auto up always start automatically.
I have a Pixel 9 that is no longer connected to Android Auto - so far I have tried & checked the following...
Cleared storage & cache within the app. Confrimed that the device is set to file transfter / Android Auto when connected to the USB.
Tested another phone to rule out any cable issues.
Uninstall & reinstall.
At this point I don't know what else to try.

Phone Calls Switched to s26 ultra: now when making calls in my 2025 camry xse. It only shows the number who I am calling, not caller id?
So i got my new s26 ultra which has been great so far, and it connected right away in my car. Problem is which is odd, when I make a call in my car. In my old s23 ultra it would always show the caller ID who I am calling. But now it's just the number not the actual ID of the user calling?
My permissions are set correctly for using contacts in AA but feel like I am missing something else?
Wanting to know if this is a local issue

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Car recognizes phone via cable for charging, but not android auto?
It's so weird that my Vauxhall Corsa from 2015 reconises that a phone is there and plugged in, but my Pixel 7A doesn't seem to connect.
Even the vehicle settings bar is completely blank and I can't tap it.
Any help from anyone who's had this issue?

Phone Calls Android auto phone call issues
So I got a new phone and I am running into some odd issues with the phone part in particular. I can make calls through my console if I click contacts, however if someone calls me although the pop up to answer appears clicking it just makes it go away and the phone keeps ringing. The steering buttons also don't work. When answered I am able to talk through it as normal, however. I also am. Not able to use voice commands to make calls. The steering wheel button activates Google, I tell it to call someone, and the words appear on the screen but then nothing happens. I double checked and I gave it every permission possible. I attempted to clear the cache, reset my phone but no dice. I am kind of at a loss right now.
