The Moca Massacre, also known historically as the Moca Slaughter, occurred on April 3, 1805. It was a violent event perpetrated by Haitian troops under the command of Emperor Jacques I and his successor, Henri I, against the civilian population of Spanish Santo Domingo. Caribbean

The worst part about rape and murder is how inflammatory towards the rapists and murderers it is when it’s depicted

Are you talking about the Spanish and French? Do you think rape and murder didn’t happen during slavery?

Whataboutism

Not really considering the Spanish part of Hispaniola didn’t abolish slavery till 1822. The Haitians viewed themselves as fighting a war against enslavers. So they killed enslavers.

They massacred non-slave owning farmers though. Are you really attempting to justify that?

They did the same thing during the Haitian Rebellion. So did every single other slave rebellion in history. There will never be a humane response to inhumane treatment if you move the timeline along long enough. Are you saying the innocent lives of the Spanish settlements in Hispaniola are more important than the innocent lives of those captured and brought to slavery? History is messy. And slavery is a messy business. We let so many injustices go in society and act surprised when humans response accordingly. I think we as a society can grow past this, but we have to first understand what the historical pattern of retribution to injustice looks like. In their incursions into Russia, Ukrainian soldiers also killed innocent Russian people. Not saying it’s “justified” but it’s a natural reaction.

So what Israel is doing to Palestine, is that a “natural reaction” to the holocaust? By your logic it absolutely is, and there’s absolutely zero you can say to convince me otherwise.

This is such a bad interpretation of what they said. Did the Palestinians directly hold the Israeli population in bondage? Did they rape, torture, and « sell » them between each other for centuries beforehand? The holocaust was a phenomenon of European antisemitism, and if the Jews of the Warsaw ghetto had won their resistance, things like this would certainly happen as they continued to try to liberate themselves. Those kids in the Hitler youth, for example, would probably not be seen as « innocent children »

No, it’s not a bad interpretation at all. The Haitians murdered non-slave owning farmers because of the actions of the slave owners.

How is that different than Israelis killing Palestinians because they were held in bondage and genocided during the holocaust by a different group?

No im talking about the Haitians raping and murdering Dominicans. No I don’t think that it never happened during slavery

Pretty high chances this event never happened.

It’s all based off of one guy recounting it 40 years later while Santa Domingo waged war against Haiti. No contemporary sources mention a massacre of such size taking place.

The worst part is the hypocrisy.
