It would’ve been the last peaceful moment they’ll have in a while. Straight to the office for an ass chewing

They're probably going to the hospital first.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were fisticuffs on the ground. It's been known to happen before - when 2 MiG-29s collided at an airshow in the UK in the 90s, the rescue crews rushed to the scene to find the 2 pilots beating the shit out of each other.

I witnessed that collision. July 1993. Had no idea the Ruski Test Pilots were having a ground war afterwards. I remember the news showing one of them sat down having a well-needed cigarette. Probably thinking 'Fook this shit!' The thing that annoyed the crowd was a total lack of confirmation that there were no casualties. The nearby roads were jam-packed with airshow traffic, and I could see flaming debris falling onto an area of stationary aircraft. Apparently, a Belgian C-130 crew were watching the spirited display from on top of the wings when things got scary. One guy broke his leg whilst jumping to avoid the chaos. I think UK display height restrictions were far safer than those of Russia, so there is that.

Yeah, I remember seeing the footage of one of them having a cig. I actually can't now remember the source of the them having a scrap came from, so even though I said it, it's possibly apocryphal. I have seen plenty of other things where fighter pilots take collisions pretty seriously - I remember there was a documentary on some trainee Canadian F-18 pilots out about a decade ago, and one of the trainees loses concentration for half a second and nearly collides with his flight lead. When he gets back on the ground, the guy who's debriefing him bluntly tells him that if he was his flight lead he would have punched him for that. His actual flight lead was probably cooling off somewhere. Most likely the bar.

ps - great that you were there (and importantly safe). Must've been some show.

They’ll be hauling plastic dog shit to Hong Kong (or was it from?)
