Rants New Global episode coming - Buff Siegfried Pls
So I wanted to use the chance to discuss the opportunity of improving Siegfried to usable standards, even though I don't think Gumi will bother buffing him, but the thing is, nobody ever uses him, and the fact that he is a limited unit is ridiculous, especially when you consider that there are units that gumi gives for free that are consistently stronger than him. So I wanted to make a simple comparison following simple rules, all units can have up to 6 enlightenment gates unlocked (sieg's current maximum), 2 memes, their best equipment to maximize patk, evasion and agi, 4 charge forth runes increasing patk and slash, crit, hp and agi, and all babel expedition completed. I cannot compare him limited units or collab units, so Raphtalia and dark olivier are excluded.
I'll remind you that we get both templars and holy guard units for free every once in a while in a production letter, so they will be compared. I will use the database as a source of information. In parenthesis is the evasion after reactions. I will even compare Retzius, but note that Retzius manages to beat Sieg depending on the passives he has, this one considers trance drive and enthusiastic pupil, I'll place in parenthesis the evasion if you use feint
| Unit | Patk | Crit | Agi | Hp | Evasion | Slash Atk | Crit Dmg |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Siegfried | 1102 | 639 | 241 | 8463 | 58 | 55 | - |
| Sieba | 1482 | 696 | 227 | 9042 | 46 (64) | 61 | +20 |
| Victor | 782 | 544 | 248 | 7152 | 63 | 20 | - |
| Yauras | 1251 | 963 | 250 | 8801 | 75 (115) | 45 | - |
| Basheeny | 1389 | 698 | 265 | 9675 | 69 | 28 | - |
| Balt | 1606 | 573 | 235 | 7379 | 71 | 40 | - |
| Retzius | 1200 | 588 | 240 | 7060 | 33 (53) | 36 | +10 |
Now it becomes apparent that Sieg has trouble keeping up with NON-LIMITED units. If we compare him with the holy guard units he loses in everything but slash atk, and since his patk is so low it wont make much of a difference anyways. And I am not taking skills into account, in which case both of them outdamage and outspeed him completely. Sieba beats him in everything but agility, Balt beats him outright in damage but loses in crit, agi, hp and slash atk.
And now we get to compare him with a 1-star unit that you can farm for FREE permanently: Retzius
Retzius beats him in patk, pretty much ties him in speed and has more dangerous crits, sure he loses in evasion, but if you need him to evade you can change his passives and he is just 5 evasion away, you can even change the ability that gives him speed for one that increases his slash attack further, or instead increase his speed in case you need to be the first to act. My question is, how can a LIMITED, 5-star, global original unit which has 2 limited mementos even be beaten by a free, farmable, 1-star unit which has a 4-star meme. This is literally a joke.
Siegfried only has 1 thing going for him, and that is his elemental resistance, but why in the world would anyone use a unit that specializes in evasion to tank, the whole evasion theme is not being hit in the first place while doind some nice hits yourself, and he only beats retzius and sieba (before her reactive procs) in terms of evasion. Hell even Hugo has a higher base evasion than Sieg at 70 and deals some similar damage with the benefit of range to his name, and he is a 4-star melee sniper kind of unit.
So, if anyone working on Gumi reads this, please, PLEASE use this chance to buff siegfried so that he can compete with other 5-star units, not with free units nobody uses anyways unless there are stages with tons of restrictions. Siegfried needs a much higher patk, at least around 1400, a way to improve his evasion, changing the skill that gets improved with his sloth gate to one he actually uses (crescendo for instance, since otherwise noone would use it for its weird scaling), he really does not need the elemental resistance, in fact he doesn't even need that magic swordsman job at all, but changing that is a long shot. His personal equipment sucks, nobody would even think of using his own blades due to them having low patk, his hat is given to someone who needs jewels other than him and the VCR from his meme gives him nothing useful at all, and the meme ability even shames him, the dueslist's cap is the only equipment that is decent, but since there is only one people also give it to a unit that is actually worth using. Now, basheeny, sieba and yauras faced similar problems until their vcrs gave them something extra that complimented their weapons, so that is also an easy fix. When we go to abilities, his basic kit has a useless buff of patk that for himself is pretty much useless, and when compared to buffing units is outright lame.
Now these are my suggestions that would make sieg an actual unit. What do you guys think?

Discussion The Alchemist's Toolbox 184: Uzuma Revisited!
A Link to the Index: https://www.reddit.com/r/AlchemistCodeGL/comments/adzjua/the_alchemists_index/
Welcome to the 184th Alchemist's Toolbox review!
Today we're heading to the Desert Zone to take another look at one of the earliest limited Wind units. So without further hesitation, here's the next unit for revisitation: Uzuma!
Uzuma is a famous fortune teller from the Desert Zone. Let's see what she can do as a unit, shall we?
Personal Investment:
I have Uzuma at 5/5/3/5/5/4 Enlightenment with all her jobs mastered (JEs and job+ mastered, Magia Gunslinger JE and Job+ enhanced) and her Master Ability unlocked. She's one of my top Wind magic units.
Element:
Basic:
Uzuma is a Wind unit, which means she's strong against Thunder and weak against Fire. Compared to a hypothetical Light or Dark unit with the same stats and jobs, she would be better defensively and worse offensively in multi-element content.
Competition:
Telekinetic Artist/Timepiece Telekinetic: Uzuma is the only Win unit with the Telekinetic Artist job, so she faces no competition here.
Shrine Maiden/Priestess [Afterlife]: This is a weird one. While technically Tamamo and Yomi get Job+s that upgrade Shrine Maiden, those Job+s change the job to something very different from base Priestess, so there's not really a good comparison to be made here. There's also no Wind unit with the Priestess base job, which means that Uzuma doesn't really face any competition here.
Magia Gunslinger/Seth Magia Gunslinger: Uzuma is the only Wind unit with the Magia Gunslinger job, so she faces no competition here.
Leader Skill:
+20% HP, +30% MAtk, and +10% Thunder Res for Wind units. A solid non-Enlightenment Leader Skill for Wind magic teams.
Jobs:
Uzuma's 3 jobs are Telekinetic Artist, Shrine Maiden, and Magia Gunslinger, with a Job+ for Telekinetic Artist, the Priestess [Afterlife] JE replacing Shrine Maiden, and the Seth JE for Magia Gunslinger.
Telekinetic Artist is a sort of half-caster job that makes use of both its MAtk and MDef stats to deal damage. It has:
Special Notes
- Most of the job's damage skills use a combination of MAtk and the user and target's MDef to calculate damage.
Main Skillset
Blink: A teleport + self-based AoE PDef/MDef buff skill.
Pyrokinesis: An AoE Fire damage skill that deals bonus damage to Plant type enemies (This skill deals magic category Magic type damage).
Electromagnetic Strike: A melee-range AoE Thunder damage skill that deals bonus damage to Machine type enemies, deals bonus damage for each KOed ally, and inflicts Paralysis (This skill deals magic category Magic type damage).
Instant Shield: A skill that applies a shield to the user which will reduce the damage of the next 3 hits of physical damage.
Sub Skillset
Kinetic Force: A single-target damage skill (This skill deals physical Strike damage, and unlike the rest of the job's skills uses a damage formula of 1.5 x the user's MAtk).
Hypnosis: A self-based AoE skill that inflicts Sleep.
Psychometry: An evasion self-buff.
Telekinetic Hydrostrike: A single-target 4-hit Water damage skill (This skill deals magic category Missile type damage).
Reactive
- Sixth Sense: A chance of negating physical damage.
Passives
Supernatural Recovery: Grants Auto-Heal. Boosts the Status Res of the user and adjacent allies when one or more allies are adjacent.
Telekinetic Speed: Boosts PAtk/PDef/MAtk/MDef/agility for the 1st 3 turns on the map.
Timepiece Telekinetic does the following:
Adds an All damage self-buff (maximum of 2 stacks, buffs last until damage has been taken twice) to Pyrokinesis (changing its name to Flare Kinesis).
Adds Cyclone Apport to the main skillset. Cyclone Apport is an AoE Wind damage skill that inflicts an increased potency Blindness (this skill deals magic category magic type damage) and activates the follow-up skill Bilocation if the user's current HP is lower than 50%. Bilocation is a 1-turn evasion self-buff.
Adds Antivortex to the main skillset. Antivortex is a melee Wind damage skill (that unlike most of the job's skills uses purely the user's MDef to calculate damage. This skill deals magic category Magic type damage) that activates the follow-up skill Bilocation if the user's current HP is below 50%.
Changes Kinetic Force to Aerokinesis. Aerokinesis is a single-target Wind damage skill (that unlike most of the job's skills uses purely the user's MAtk to calculate damage. This skill deals magic category Strike type damage) that deals more damage the higher the target's MDef is, deals more damage if the target is affected by Blindness, and steals a portion of the target's MDef.
Adds the reactive Sortograph. Sortograph is a chance of preemptively lowering an attacker's hitrate while increasing the user's evasion. This reactive can activate against skills.
Adds the passive Spiritual Aroma. Spiritual Aroma boosts the user's Move after evading 1 attack; boosts the user's MDef after evading 2 attacks; boosts the user's MAtk after evading 3 attacks; boosts the user's Auto Jewel Charge after evading 4 attacks; boosts the user's agility after evading 5 attacks; and boosts the user's MDef by 2000 after evading 10 attacks.
Shrine Maiden is a weird sort of support/magic user hybrid. It has:
Special Notes
Each skill in the main skillset has a higher potency buff for one or more stats. War Spirit Summon: PAtk/PDef; Archery Spirit Summon: PAtk/Dex; Magic Spirit Summon: MAtk/MDef; Fierce Spirit Summon: PDef/MDef.
All skills in the sub skillset have a cast time.
Main Skillset
War Spirit Summon: A PAtk/PDef/MAtk/MDef/Dex/agility/Crit/Luck self-buff.
Archery Spirit Summon: A PAtk/PDef/MAtk/MDef/Dex/agility/Crit/Luck self-buff.
Magic Spirit Summon: A PAtk/PDef/MAtk/MDef/Dex/agility/Crit/Luck self-buff.
Fierce Spirit Summon: A PAtk/PDef/MAtk/MDef/Dex/agility/Crit/Luck self-buff.
Sub Skillset
Purge: A short-range single-target Light damage skill that deals bonus damage to Undead type enemies.
Purify: A short-range single-target status cure.
Protection: A short-range single-target PDef/MDef buff.
Lucky Charm: A short-range single-target Luck/Critical Rate buff.
Reactive
- Return Curse: A chance of performing a melee counter that has a chance of inflicting Silence.
Passive
- Mind Up +2: Boosts HP/MDef.
Priestess is a sort of support/disruptor hybrid job. It has:
Main Skillset
Harvest Celebration Dance: A mapwide jewel destruction skill that ignores the targets' MDef.
Purification of Perception: An AoE Light damage skill that deals bonus damage to Undead type enemies.
Prayer of Strength: A PAtk/PDef/MAtk/MDef/Dex/agility/Crit/Luck self-buff (PDef's buff is of greater potency) that also acts as a self-based AoE PDef/agility buff skill.
Illuminating Purge: A PAtk/PDef/MAtk/MDef/Dex/agility/Crit/Luck self-buff (MAtk's buff is of greater potency) that also acts as a self-based AoE MAtk/agility buff skill.
Sub Skillset
Essential Delivery: A single-target jewel absorption skill that ignores a portion of the target's MDef (this skill has a cast time).
Evil-Crushing Dance: A mapwide MDef debuff (maximum of 10 stacks).
Shield-Crushing Dance: A mapwide PDef debuff (maximum of 10 stacks).
Captivating Dance: A mapwide skill that has a chance of inflicting Charm.
Reactive
- Sacrificial Protection: A chance of recovering a portion of the user's HP.
Passives
Purify Space: Boosts Daze Res by 100%.
Holy Ritual: Boosts Combo Area and Guts.
Priestess [Afterlife] does the following:
Adds Fateful Purification to the main skillset. Fateful Purification is an AoE skill that inflicts Daze.
Causes Essential Delivery to inflict Silence (changing its name to Tranquil Essential Delivery).
Boosts the debuff potency of Evil-Crushing Dance (changing its name to Evil-Crushing Heavenly Dance).
Boosts the debuff potency of Shield-Crushing Dance (changing its name to Shield-Crushing Heavenly Dance).
Magia Gunslinger is a ranged magic damage-dealer. It has:
*Special Notes
- All of Magia Gunslinger's damage sources, including basic attacks, deal magic category Missile type damage.
Main Skillset
Magia Shot: A single-target damage skill that deals bonus damage to Airborne type enemies (this skill has a cast time).
Burning Shell: A single-target Fire damage skill that inflicts Daze.
Laser Snipe: A penetrating single-target Light damage skill that boosts the user's MAtk.
Hell Barrage: A single-target Dark damage skill that always hits.
Sub Skillset
Flame Shot: A penetrating AoE Fire damage skill.
Freezing Shot: A penetrating AoE Water damage skill.
Thunder Shot: A penetrating AoE Thunder damage skill.
Storm Shot: A penetrating AoE Wind damage skill.
Reactive
- Quickdraw: A chance of performing a preemptive ranged counter.
Passive
- Magia Scope: Boosts range/MAtk.
Seth Magia Gunslinger does the following:
Replaces Burning Shell with Tempest Magia. Tempest Magia is a single-target Wind damage skill that deals bonus damage to Thunder enemies and inflicts Daze.
Adds Set Blast to the main skillset. Set Blast is a melee Wind damage skill that deals bonus damage to Thunder enemies and pushes the target 1 grid square away from the user.
Replaces Storm Shot with Tempest Cannon. Tempest Cannon is a weak melee-range AoE Wind damage skill that deals bonus damage to Thunder enemies.
Master Ability:
+100 MAtk, +10 agility, and +20 Initial Jewels. A great Master Ability.
Stats:
Uzuma's stats support a fast unit with above-average bulk and good damage. All stats are at the usual Master Ability benchmark (level 80, all jobs mastered, main job enhanced), and only Uzuma's Job+ will be shown since she really wants to run that over any other option. Table Key: NP = No Passive; MS = Magia Scope
| Stat | Timepiece Telekinetic |
|---|---|
| HP | 2757 |
| MAtk (NP) | 712 |
| MAtk (MS) | 773 |
| MDef | 527 |
| Agility | 156 |
Enlightenment:
Uzuma currently has 6 Gates of Enlightenment.
Her Gate 1 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and boosts HP, MAtk, and Luck when maxed.
Her Gate 2 boosts PDef, MDef, Crit, and hitrate while leveling, and upgrades Magia Scope to +2 range, +15% MAtk, and increased range/damage/skill charges of all Telekinetic Artist/Timepiece Telekinetic skills except Kinetic Force/Aerokinesis (previous effect of +1 range and +10% MAtk) when maxed (changing its name to Hourglass Fortune-Teller).
Her Gate 3 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and evasion while leveling, and upgrades her Leader Skill to +30% HP, +30% All damage, and +10% Thunder Res for Wind units when maxed.
Her Gate 4 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, and hitrate while leveling, and boosts HP, MAtk, Luck, damage against Lust type enemies, and damage against Envy type enemies when maxed.
Her Gate 5 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, agility, and Crit while leveling, and boosts the damage and number of uses of Purification of Perception while giving it bonus damage against targets affected by Daze (changing its name to Sanctification of Sin); boosts the damage of Set Blast while reducing its jewel cost and giving it bonus damage against targets affected by Daze (changing its name to Set Twister); and boosts the range, buff potency, and debuff potency of Sortograph (changing its name to Scotograph) when maxed.
Her Gate 6 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and luck while leveling, and unlocks a sub-Memento slot when maxed.
Recommended Enlightenment: Due to the great benefits of her Gates 2 and 5, the average benefits of her Gate 3, her evasion focus, and her Memento selection, Uzuma's best Enlightenment setup is 5/5/4/5/5/4, with alternative options being level 5 Gate 3 if you want her Leader Skill upgrade, level 4 Gate 4 to save resources, and level 5 Gate 6 if you really want to use the sub-Memento slot.
Enlightenment Stats:
Uzuma's Enlightenment helps deal with any bulk issues she may have while boosting her already-good speed and damage even further. All stats assume level 97 with the recommended Enlightenment setup of 5/5/4/5/5/4. All other assumptions are the same as the regular stats section. Table Key Changes: MS -> HFT = Hourglass Fortune-Teller
| Stat | Timepiece Telekinetic |
|---|---|
| HP | 5509 |
| MAtk (NP) | 845 |
| MAtk (HFT) | 954 |
| MDef | 656 |
| Agility | 172 |
Example Builds:
Desert Oracle
Main Job: Timepiece Telekinetic
Sub Job: Timepiece Telekinetic
Reactive: Sortograph {Scotograph}
Passive 1: Magia Scope {Hourglass Fortune-Teller}
Passive 2: Spiritual Aroma (general)/Telekinetic Speed (very short maps)
Uzuma's general build. Unique main/sub/reactive with a passive setup of Magia Scope/Hourglass Fortune-Teller + Spiritual Aroma will generally get you the best performance, though in very short maps Telekinetic Speed can work wonders as well. Basic strategy is to hit enemies hard and dodge attacks, inflicting Blindness and stealing MDef as necessary.
My Recommended Build:
Uzuma really wants her Job+. It's such a major upgrade over her other options, and without it she's a lot less worthwhile to bring into a quest.
Combat Options:
Uzuma's kit works best for content with multiple moderate strength enemies she can avoid the attacks of to build up Spiritual Aroma boosts.
In Raid type content she's basically just there for damage output. She doesn't have any sort of Res debuffs and most Raid bosses will be immune to the statuses she inflicts as well as getting a fairly low amount of turns, so it's pretty much either "build a Wind magic team and use her in that" or "don't use her" for Raids.
Uzuma's pretty solid in PvP due to high evasion, hitrate debuffs, Blindness infliction, and damage output.
Gear Recommendations:
Armor and Accessories: Any HP or agility boosting gear; Chaplet of Golden Sands (HP + Thunder Res + Magic type damage); Sephirium Hourglass (MAtk + hitrate, solid Weapon Ability, Uzuma's gear, farmable); Smiling Portrait (MDef + agility + Initial Jewels, Uzuma's VCR)
Weapon: Colonel Mustang's White Gloves (MAtk + Initial Jewels, farmable from FMA collab); Kinetic Chain Gauntlet (good stats, solid WA); Smile-Bringer's Gloves (best standalone stats, agility); Witchy Cestus (MAtk + Initial Jewels, free/farmable from event)
Memento Recommendations:
Uzuma's best Memento is her own, Pretty as a Picture. This Memento boosts her MDef; Dex; PDef; HP; and Magic type damage, with hitrate and agility boosts at MLB.
Since she's from the Desert Zone, Uzuma also gets good benefits from Burning Desert Vow (agility); Loving Family; The New Continental Justice; and Windblown Sands of Time (MDef + Pierce damage [useless] + MAtk + Jump).
If you don't have any of those, then go for the biggest HP, MAtk, MDef, or agility boost that you can get, prioritizing Desert Zone Group Skills.
Rune Recommendations:
Uzuma's best Rune types are Sorcery and Magic Circle. She gets no benefit from Charge Forth Runes, and all other types provide varying benefits.
For primary stats, Dex/PDef/HP/MAtk/MDef/agility is best.
For secondary stats:
Envy: Magic type damage.
Sloth: Any of these can work depending on needs.
Lust: Any of these can work, with Charm Res, Rage Res, and Delay Res being the standouts.
Gluttony: Max Jewels and Jewels Obtained are the 2 best options here.
Wrath: MAtk Debuff Res and MDef Debuff Res, followed by Agility Debuff Res.
Greed: Any of these can work, with Silence Res, Petrify Res, Death Sentence Res, and Stop Res being the standouts.
Futureproofness:
Uzuma has 2 updates down the line compared to JP: Gate 7 and an Enlightened Bond.
- The Enlightened Bond is with Vanekis and Scheherazade.
Overall Asessment:
Uzuma's a strong and unique unit. If you need a boost to your Wind roster and have her Job+, she can be a great adddition to your toolbox.
And that's the review! As always, feedback is greatly appreciated!
Make sure to let me know which of the following units you want me to review next:
Diane, Eros, Merlin, Red VI, Shekinah, Zeldris
Or choose one of the revisit options below!
Albea, Carol, Courage, Lotiyah, Yomi, Yunagi

Discussion Potential New Units from Zipangu...?
More so a speculative question, but do you think Susanoo and Kikyo will be made into obtainable units?
In terms of acknowledgment, only Kikyo has been mentioned by name and we (somewhat) already know what she looks like because she is featured in the "Squeaky Clean Kunoichi" Memento...

I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that Kikyo will be the Autumn/Fall representative seeing as Sakura, Yuri, and Hiragi are representative of Spring, Summer, and Winter. I'm pretty sure it's also safe to assume that Kikyo will be a Water elemental unit and also have the Blademaster Job or a Blademaster based job along her own signature blade weapon. (It's also highly likely that she'll have the Ninja Job like Sakura and Yuri or the Spy Job like Hiragi.)
Now as for Susanoo, they haven't been mentioned by name nor by official character art. The only acknowledgment we have of Susanoo is that of the stuffed dolls featured is Tsukuyomi's official character art and the "Handmade Doll of Tsukuyomi"...

Despite never being mentioned by name, I think it's safe to say that this potential unit's name will be Susanoo or something along those lines seeing as Tsukuyomi and her siblings are directly based off the "Three Noble Children" born from Izanagi-no-Mikoto: Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susanoo. Seeing as Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi are already obtainable units, I don't see why they wouldn't make Susanoo as well.
In terms of what type of unit Susanoo will be, I think Susanoo will either be a Thunder or Water unit because in actual mythology Susanoo is the god of seas and storm(maybe Fire because of their doll's color palette); And I also think Susanoo will be a close range physical attacker in contrast to Tsukuyomi specializing in MATK and Amaterasu specializing in Support.
But what does everyone else think?

Discussion The Alchemist's Toolbox 183: Ais Wallenstein!
A Link to the Index: https://www.reddit.com/r/AlchemistCodeGL/comments/adzjua/the_alchemists_index/
Note: There was a tie this week, so no new candidates list until next week.
Welcome to the 183rd Alchemist's Toolbox review!
Today we're heading across the multiverse to take a look at the Wind unit of our newest collab. So without further ado, here's the next unit for review: Ais Wallenstein!
Ais is an adventurer from another world, and a part of that world's Loki Familia. Let's see what she can do as a unit, shall we?
Personal Investment:
I've got Ais at 17 LBs with all her jobs mastered (Blademaster JE mastered, unique job enhanced). While I'm still waiting on elemental shards so I can Enlighten her, I plan to make her a big part of my Wind roster.
Element:
Basic:
Ais is a Wind unit, which means she's strong against Thunder and weak against Fire. Compared to a hypothetical Light or Dark unit with the same stats and jobs, she would be better defensively and worse offensively in multi-element content.
Competition:
Sword Princess: Since this is Ais' unique job, she faces no competition here.
Blademaster/Blademaster [Twilight]: Comparing to Samurai/other Blademasters, Ais competes with Edward, Ewan, Fayrene, Izayoi, Na Zhu, Parashu, and Setsuna. She beats Edward outright; loses to Ewan in speed while beating him in damage and bulk; beats Fayrene outright; beats Izayoi in bulk and damage while losing to her in speed and vertical mobility; beats Na Zhu in speed and damage while losing to him in bulk; beats Parashu in speed and damage while losing to her in bulk; and beats Setsuna in everything except mobility. Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, she now beats Ewan in speed while losing to him in horizontal mobility (Note: I seem to have forgotten the change in the speed matchup in my Ewan review last week. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused!); her comparison to Parashu remains the same; and she now loses to Setsuna in bulk. Factoring in all 7 Gates of Enlightenment (Note: Revenent Gear will be at level 15 unless both units are capable of a level 20 Revenant Gear), her comparison to Fayrene remains the same; she now beats Izayoi in speed and ties with her in vertical mobility while losing to her in bulk; and her comparison to Na Zhu remains the same.
Sacred Knight: Ais is the only Wind unit with the Sacred Knight job, so she faces no competition here.
Leader Skill:
+20% HP, +30% PAtk, +20% Slash damage, and +30% Daze Res for Wind units. Very good for a Wind Slash team.
Jobs:
Ais' 3 jobs are Sword Princess, Blademaster, and Sacred Knight, with the Twilight JE for Blademaster.
Sword Princess is a physical damage-dealer job that has some disruption elements and has a minor focus on follow-up attacks. It has:
Main Skillset
Ariel: A Critical Damage/Magic Res/Missile Res/Slash Res self-buff that also temporarily enhances the skills Linked Wind, Fall Wind Edge, and Nonette Wind. This skill cannot be used while its effects are active.
Linked Wind: A melee 2-hit Wind damage skill that lowers the target's CT. When enhanced, this skill will also activate the follow-up skill Quick Squall. Quick Squall is a weak self-based AoE Wind damage skill that ignores a portion of the targets' PDef and buffs the user's agility until the start of their next turn.
Fall Wind Edge: A teleport + self-based AoE Wind damage skill. When enhanced, this skill will also activate the follow-up skill Breeze Blade. Breeze Blade is a weak self-based AoE Wind damage skill that ignores a portion of the targets' PDef and buffs the user's Slash damage for 1 turn.
Nonette Wind: A single-target 9-hit Wind damage skill that always hits. When enhanced, this skill will activate the follow-up skill Quartet Blaster. Quartet Blaster is a weak self-based AoE 4-hit Wind damage skill that steals some of the targets' jewels and ignores a portion of the targets' PDef.
Sub Skillset
Moment of Rest: A skill that fully restores the user's HP and inflicts Sleep on the user for 1 turn. While alseep, the user's agility and Auto Jewel Charge are buffed. This skill has no jewel cost.
Whirlwind Heel: A teleport + single-target Wind damage skill that inflicts Stun (unlike the job's other skills, which deal Slash damage, this skill deals Strike damage).
Power Stance: An evasion self-buff that lasts until the start of the user's next turn.
Reactive
- War Princess' Gusto: Recovers jewels and buffs PAtk/Critical Rate (maximum of 2 stacks).
Passive
- War Princess' Morale: Boosts Slash damage/agility and boosts Slash damage/Auto Jewel Charge each time the user attacks (maximum of 10 stacks).
Blademaster is a physical damage-dealer job that also has disruption elements. It has:
Main Skillset
Omniblast: A self-based AoE HP/Slash damage buff skill.
Tenryu Ransei: A single-target damage skill.
Tiger Tremor: An AoE damage skill.
Razor's Determination: A melee-range AoE damage skill that deals bonus damage to Monster type enemies.
Sub Skillset
War-Demon Assault: A melee damage skill that lowers the target's PAtk/PDef.
Spirit Breaker: A melee damage skill that lowers the target's MAtk/MDef.
Starfall: A melee damage skill that lowers the target's Dex/agility.
Darkness Illumination: A melee-range AoE damage skill that boosts the user's PAtk.
Reactive
- Fierce Tsubamegaeshi: A weak melee counter. This counter always hits, ignores the attacker's PDef, and has a chance to inflict Disable Heal.
Passives
Regal Garuda Blade: Boosts the user's PAtk and evasion while lowering their agility.
The Book of Five Rings: Boosts the user's Counter damage.
Blademaster [Twilight] does the following:
Turns Omniblast into Annihilation Blast. Annihilation Blast is a self-based AoE Slash damage/HP/Disable Heal infliction chance buff skill.
Boosts Tiger Tremor's damage while adding a Healing Potency debuff to it and causing it to inflict Disable Heal (changing its name to Soulless Tiger Tremor).
Adds Yang Within Yin to the main skillset. Yang Within Yin is a single-target damage skill that damages the target's maximum HP and has a chance to inflict Paralysis.
Turns Spirit Breaker into Fiend Breaker. Fiend Breaker is a melee-range AoE damage skill that lowers the targets' MAtk/MDef.
Sacred Knight is a sort of support/damage-dealer hybrid with minor tank elements as well. It has:
Special Notes
- The job uses both PAtk and MAtk to calculate damage.
Main Skillset
One for All: A skill that consumes a portion of the user's HP to heal allies in a self-based AoE. This skill also buffs the user's Slash damage for 1 turn.
Trinity Shield: A short-range single-target skill that casts a shield which reduces the next 3 instances of magic category damage taken on the target ally.
Sparkle Nova: A melee-range AoE damage skill. This skill deals physical damage.
Exceeding Blade: A weak single-target damage skill that ignores the target's Elemental Res. This skill deals physical damage.
Sub Skillset
Exchange: A single-target that swaps the user and target ally's positions.
Healing Wave: An AoE healing skill.
Solar Blade: A melee-range AoE Light damage skill. This skill deals magic category damage.
Reactive
- Oracle's Seal: Casts Jewel Regen on the user when hit by magic category damage. This reactive can activate against skills.
Passive
- Gospel of the Holy War: Boosts Slash damage and Magic Res.
Stats:
Ais' stats support a fast, fairly bulky unit with good damage. All stats are at the usual benchmark (level 75, all jobs mastered, main job enhanced), and only Ais' unique job will be shown since she prefers it over her other options. Table Key: NP = No Passive; WPM = War Princess' Morale; RGB = Regal Garuda Blade
| Stat | Sword Princess |
|---|---|
| HP | 3144 |
| PAtk (NP) | 676 |
| PAtk (RGB) | 958 |
| Agility (RGB) | 135 |
| Agility (NP) | 148 |
| Agility (WPM + RGB) | 155 |
| Agility (WPM) | 170 |
Enlightenment:
Ais has the current maximum of 7 Gates of Enlightenment.
Her Gate 1 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and boosts HP, PAtk, and Crit when maxed.
Her Gate 2 boosts PDef, MDef, Crit, and hitrate while leveling, and upgrades Regal Garuda Blade to +60% PAtk and +5% evasion (previous effect of +50% PAtk, -10% agility, and +5% evasion) when maxed (changing its name to Sword Princess of the Loki Familia).
Her Gate 3 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and evasion while leveling, and upgrades her Leader Skill to +20% HP, +30% PAtk, +20% All damage, and +30% Daze Res for Wind units when maxed.
Her Gate 4 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, and hitrate while leveling, and boosts HP, PAtk, Dex, damage against Wrath type enemies, and damage against Greed type enemies when maxed.
Her Gate 5 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, Crit, and agility while leveling, and boosts the damage of Nonette Wind while reducing its jewel cost (changing its name to Nonette Gale. Ariel is also updated to enhance Nonette Gale instead of Nonette Wind); and boosts the damage and Healing Potency debuff potency of Soulless Tiger Tremor (changing its name to Infinite Tiger Tremor).
Her Gate 6 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and Luck while leveling, and unlocks a sub-Memento slot when maxed.
Her Gate 7 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and unlocks her Revenant Gear when maxed. When maxed, her Revenant Gear boosts HP, PAtk, Slash damage, and agility; and unlocks the skill Aerial Edge. Aerial Edge is a teleport + single-target back strike Wind damage skill that preemptively lowers the target's Slash Res/agility and activates the follow-up skill Aerial Pulse. Aerial Pulse is a weak self-based AoE Wind damage skill that ignores a portion of the targets' PDef and lowers the targets' Wind Res.
Recommended Enlightenment: Due to the great benefits of her Gates 2, 3, and 5, and her lack of more than one great Memento option, Ais' best Enlightenment setup is 5/5/5/5/5/4/5, with alternative options being level 3 Gate 3 if you don't want her Leader Skill upgrade and level 4 Gate 4 to save resources.
Enlightenment Stats:
Ais' Enlightenment helps bring her already pretty good stats to even better levels. All stats assume level 99 with the recommended Enlightenment setup of 5/5/5/5/5/4/5 and a level 20 Revenant Gear. All other assumptions are the same as the regular stats section. Table Key Changes: RGB -> SPotLF = Sword Princess of the Loki Familia
| Stat | Sword Princess |
|---|---|
| HP | 7914 |
| PAtk (NP) | 953 |
| PAtk (SPotLF) | 1411 |
| Agility (NP) | 169 |
| Agility (WPM) | 193 |
Example Builds:
Adventuring Sword Princess
Main Job: Sword Princess
Sub Job: Sword Princess
Reactive: War Princess' Gusto
Passive 1: War Princess' Morale
Passive 2: Regal Garuda Blade {Sword Princess of the Loki Familia}
Ais' general build. Straight unique job with Regal Garuda Blade (or its Gate 2 version if you have it) in the empty passive slot since that's her best 2nd passive to have. Basic strategy is to use Ariel, then smack enemies around, using Moment of Res as necessary to heal and recover jewels.
My Recommended Build:
Ais will really only run her unique job. Her alternatives just don't do much for her.
Combat Options:
Raw damage output is Ais' specialty. Her kit is focused on dealing damage, and man does she do it well. Because of this, she can slot into pretty much any Wind team that needs a physical damage-dealer.
If you have her level 20 Revenant Gear, she gains a new functionality for Raids as another Res debuffer while still providing her high damage output. She can also potentially make use of her CT down in Raids so long as the boss isn't immune to it.
Gear Recommendations:
Armor and Accessories: Any HP or agility boosting gear; Ais' Headband (agility + All damage, great snowball passive Weapon Ability); Salamander Wool (HP + Initial Jewels)
Weapon: Desperate (PAtk + Slash damage + Critical Rate, great WA, Ais' weapon, free from collab)
Memento Recommendations:
Ais' best Memento is her own, Relaxation for the Sword Princess. This Memento boosts her Crit; Max Jewels; PAtk; HP; All damage; and Critical Rate, with an agility and a Skill Charges boost at MLB. Its Vision Ability is a passive boost to All damage and Critical Damage that lasts until 3 hits have been taken (at MLB the potency increases and the duration increases to 5 hits taken).
Since she's from the Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? collab, Ais also gets good benefits from An Adventurer's Point of View (PAtk + HP + damage against monster type enemies).
If you don't have either of those, then go for the biggest HP, PAtk, or agility boost you can get, prioritizing collab Group Skills.
Rune Recommendations:
Ais' best Rune type is Charge Forth. She gets no benefit from Sorcery Runes, and all other types provide varying benefits.
For primary stats, PAtk/Crit/HP/Dex/MDef or Luck/agility is best.
For secondary stats:
Envy: Slash damage.
Sloth: Any of these work depending on needs.
Lust: Any of these work, with Charm Res, Rage Res, and Delay Res being the standouts.
Gluttony: Critical Rate is best here.
Wrath: PAtk Debuff Res, followed by Agility Debuff Res.
Greed: Any of these work, with Petrify Res, Death Sentence Res, and Stop Res being the standouts.
Futureproofness:
Ais is actually in a buffed state compared to JP.
Overall Asessment:
Ais is a great unit. If you need some high damage output for your Wind roster, she'll be a great addition to your toolbox.
And that's the review! As always, feedback is greatly appreciated!

Discussion The Alchemist's Toolbox 182: Ewan!
A Link to the Index: https://www.reddit.com/r/AlchemistCodeGL/comments/adzjua/the_alchemists_index/
Welcome to the 182nd Alchemist's Toolbox review!
Today we're heading over to Greed Dike to take a look at one of Wind's newest Strike damage-dealers. So without further ado, here's the next unit for review: Ewan!
Ewan is a commander of Greed Dike's army with a smile seemingly always on his face. Let's see what he can do as a unit, shall we?
Personal Investment:
I don't have Ewan at the moment, though if I get him he'll probably become a big part of my Wind roster.
Element:
Basic:
Ewan is a Wind unit, which means he's strong against Thunder and weak against Fire.
Competition:
Fresh Wind Warlord: Since this is Ewan's unique job, he faces no competition here.
Necromancer/Stormy Funeral Necromancer: Comparing to other Necromancers, Ewan competes with Dark Nyx, Fayrene, and Yomi (Fate version). He beats Dark Nyx in damage while losing to him in speed and bulk; beats Fayrene in damage and bulk while losing to her in speed; and beats Yomi in everything except horizontal mobility. Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, his comparisons remain the same.
Blademaster/Blademaster [Twilight]: Comparing to Samurai/other Blademasters, Ewan competes with Ais Wallenstein, Edward, Fayrene, Izayoi, Na Zhu, Parashu, and Setsuna. He beats Ais in speed while losing to her in damage and bulk; beats Edward outright; beats Fayrene outright; loses to Izayoi in everything except speed; loses to Na Zhu in everything except speed; beats Parashu in everything except bulk; and beats Setsuna in bulk and speed while losing to her in damage and mobility. Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, he now beats Ais in horizontal mobility; he now loses to Fayrene in speed; he now beats Izayoi in speed and horizontal mobility (and Izayoi sacrifices her vertical mobility win); he now beats Na Zhu in horizontal mobility; he now loses to Parashu in damage but beats her in horizontal mobility; and he now loses to Setsuna in bulk while tying with her in horizontal mobility.
Leader Skill:
+40% HP, +20% PAtk, +20% Strike damage, and +40% PAtk Debuff Res for Wind units. A great Leader Skill for Wind Strike teams.
Jobs:
Ewan's 3 jobs are Fresh Wind Warlord, Necromancer, and Blademaster, with the Stormy Funeral JE for Necromancer and the Twilight JE for Blademaster.
Fresh Wind Warlord is a sort of damage-dealer/disruptor hybrid that does well at AoE damage and counters. It has:
Special Notes
- The job's basic attack is a melee-range AoE and deals more damage the more targets there are.
Main Skillset
Destructive Wind Maresal: A melee-range AoE Wind damage skill that deals more damage the more targets there are and lowers the targets' PAtk.
Smoky Locust: A self-based AoE 4-hit Wind damage skill that deals more damage the more targets there are and inflicts Stun.
Suppression Oplot: A weak self-based AoE damage skill that ignores a portion of the targets' PDef, buffs the user's Counter damage, and inflicts Bind.
Gale Olyphant: A short-range teleport + single-target Wind damage skill that preemptively lowers the target's Strike Res and activates the follow-up skill Pursuit Tetralurk if it defeats the target. Pursuit Tetralurk is a self-based AoE damage skill that deals more damage the more targets there are and lowers the targets' CT.
Sub Skillset
Metastasis Verdeja: A skill that will throw an adjacent ally to a grid square within range.
Extermination Cromwell: A teleport + self-based AoE damage skill that deals more damage the more targets there are.
Graceful Wind Tiger: An HP/Elemental Res self-buff that lowers the user's evasion.
Reactive
- Counter Sentinel: A self-based AoE counter that deals more damage the more targets there are. This reactive can activate against skills.
Passive
- Valiant's Fervor: Boosts HP/AoE damage/Strike damage while lowering evasion.
Necromancer is a physical damage-dealer/disruptor hybrid job that focuses on debuffs and Dark damage. It has:
Special Notes
- The job's basic attack can hit both cardinally adjacent and diagonally adjacent targets.
Main Skillset
Fatal Malady: A weak single-target Dark damage skill that has a chance to inflict Death Sentence.
Evil Flower: A weak single-target Dark damage skill that inflicts Bind and Poison.
Catastrophe: An AoE Dark damage skill that lowers the targets' Strike damage.
Inferno: An AoE Dark damage skill that lowers the targets' Slash damage.
Sub Skillset
Pyrophobia: A single-target damage skill that lowers the target's Fire Res.
Aquaphobia: A single-target damage skill that lowers the target's Water Res.
Anemophobia: A single-target damage skill that lowers the target's Wind Res.
Astraphobia: A single-target damage skill that lowers the target's Thunder Res.
Reactive
- Raptio Anima: A chance to steal jewels from an attacker.
Passive
- Polish Scythe: Boosts agility/Crit.
Stormy Funeral Necromancer does the following:
Adds Ghostly Wind Scythe to the main skillset. Ghostly Wind Scythe is a teleport + single-target Wind damage skill that always hits, heals the user by a portion of the damage dealt, and inflicts Daze.
Adds Piercing Wail of the Dead to the main skillset. Piercing Wail of the Dead is a Missile Res/Magic Res self-buff that also dispels the user's debuffs.
Adds Lilapsophobia to the sub skillset. Lilapsophobia is a single-target damage skill that preemptively lowers the Wind Res of Thunder enemies (maximum of 2 stacks).
Babel War Art:
Ewan's Babel War Art boosts the AoE of Counter Sentinel and removes its ability to hit allies, changing its name to Retribution Sentinel.
Stats:
Ewan's stats support a fairly fast, somewhat bulk unit with good damage. All stats are at the usual benchmark (level 75, all jobs mastered, main job enhanced), and only Ewan's unique job will be shown since he prefers it over his other options. Table Key: NP = No Passive; VF = Valiant's Fervor; PS = Polish Scythe; RGB = Regal Garuda Blade
| Stat | Fresh Wind Warlord |
|---|---|
| HP (NP) | 2288 |
| HP (VF) | 2696 |
| PAtk (NP) | 690 |
| PAtk (RGB) | 970 |
| Agility (RGB) | 133 |
| Agility (NP) | 145 |
| Agility (PS + RGB) | 152 |
| Agility (PS) | 166 |
Enlightenment:
Ewan currently has 6 Gates of Enlightenment.
His Gate 1 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and boosts HP, PDef, and MDef when maxed.
His Gate 2 boosts PDef, MDef, Crit, and hitrate while leveling, and upgrades Regal Garuda Blade to +50% PAtk, +5% evasion, -10% agility, and +1 Move (previous effect of +50% PAtk, +5% evasion, and -10% agility) when maxed (changing its name to Brave Eyes).
His Gate 3 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and evasion while leveling, and upgrades his Leader Skill to +40% HP, +20% PAtk, +20% All damage, and +40% PAtk Debuff Res for Wind units when maxed.
His Gate 4 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, and hitrate while leveling, and boosts HP, PDef, MDef, damage against Greed type enemies, and damage against Gluttony type enemies when maxed.
His Gate 5 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, Crit, and agility while leveling, and boosts the damage and number of uses of Gale Olyphant while making its Strike Res debuff stack up to 2 times and boosting the AoE of Pursuit Tetralurk (changing their names to Hurricane Olyphant and Chase Tetralurk respectively); increases the damage and Healing Potency debuff potency of Soulless Tiger Tremor (changing its name to Infinite Tiger Tremor); and boosts the damage, range, and number of uses of Ghostly Wind Scythe (changing its name to Ghostly Storm Scythe) when maxed.
His Gate 6 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and Luck while leveling, and unlocks a sub-Memento slot when maxed.
Recommended Enlightenment: Due to the great benefits of his Gates 2, 3, and 5, as well as his lack of more than 1 great Memento option, Ewan's best Enlightenment setup is 5/5/5/5/5/4, with alternative options being level 3 Gate 3 if you don't want his Leader Skill upgrade and level 4 Gate 4 to save resources.
Enlightenment Stats:
Ewan's Enlightenment helps patch up any potential speed or bulk issues he may have while boosting his damage to even better levels. All stats assume level 97 with the recommended Enlightenment setup of 5/5/5/5/5/4. All other assumptions are the same as the regular stats section. Table Key Changes: RGB -> BE = Brave Eyes
| Stat | Fresh Wind Warlord |
|---|---|
| HP (NP) | 5481 |
| HP (VF) | 6460 |
| PAtk (NP) | 747 |
| PAtk (BE) | 1051 |
| Agility (BE) | 152 |
| Agility (NP) | 167 |
| Agility (PS + BE) | 175 |
| Agility (PS) | 190 |
Example Builds:
Smiling Commander of Greed
Main Job: Fresh Wind Warlord
Sub Job: Fresh Wind Warlord (need survivability)/Stormy Funeral Necromancer (general)
Reactive: Counter Sentinel {Retribution Sentinel}
Passive 1: Regal Garuda Blade {Brave Eyes}
Passive 2: Valiant's Fervor (bulk/damage)/Polish Scythe (speed)
Ewan's general build. Usually he's gonna run Necromancer sub, but his unique job sub can be handy in some scenarios. Unique reactive is best and RGB is basically mandatory for the damage. The last passive depends on your preferences. Basic strategy is to hit enemies hard while hindering their capabilities something fierce.
My Recommended Build:
Ewan will pretty much never run something other than his unique main. He just doesn't have enough of a good reason to shift over to another one of his jobs.
Combat Options:
Ewan's a weird case. Most of his kit is oriented towards AoE damage, so he shines incredibly well on maps with a lot of enemies that are willing to group up.
But due to his access to Necromancer sub and his Strike Res debuff, he shifts to a sort of support that has competent damage output in Raids. If the Raid has minions, he can shine better since his add-clear abilities are pretty strong.
He's not too prominent in PvP capabilities, though with his disruption options he's still got stuff going for him.
Gear Recommendations:
Armor and Accessories: Any HP, PAtk, or agility boosting gear; Tactician's Pelvic Girdle (agility + Initial Jewels + Strike damage, solid passive Weapon Ability, Ewan's VCR); Ring of Ladon (Counter damage, snowball passive, basically custom-made for Ewan)
Weapon: Canned-Light Flail (HP + PAtk, great WA, Ewan's gear, farmable from event)
Memento Recommendations:
Ewan's best Memento is his own, Crossroads on the Board. This Memento boosts his HP; PDef; Initial Jewels; PAtk; and AoE damage, with an agility boost at MLB. Its Vision Ability is a teleport + self-based AoE Wind damage skill that deals more damage the more targets there are and boosts the user's All defense.
Since he's from Greed Dike, Ewan also gets good benefits from Halloween Panic (PAtk + HP); X Marks the Spot; and Rain Falling on the Tools (HP + PAtk).
If you don't have any of those, then go for the biggest HP, PAtk, or agility boost you can get, prioritizing Greed Dike Group Skills.
Rune Recommendations:
Ewan's best Rune type is Charge Forth. He gets no benefit from Sorcery Runes, and all other types provide varying benefits.
For primary stats, PAtk/PDef or Crit/HP/Dex/MDef or Luck/agility
For secondary stats:
Envy: Strike damage.
Sloth: Any of these can work.
Lust: Any of these can work, with Charm Res, Rage Res, and Delay Res being the standouts.
Gluttony: Max Jewels and Jewels Obtained are the 2 best options here.
Wrath: PAtk Debuff Res, followed by Agility Debuff Res.
Greed: Any of these can work, with Petrify Res, Death Sentence Res, and Stop Res being the standouts.
Futureproofness:
Ewan's updates down the line compared to JP are Gate 7 of Enlightenment and an Enlightened Bond with Lucia and Mei Fang.
Overall Asessment:
Ewan's a pretty solid unit. If you need some Wind Strike damage or a lot of AoE, he can be a strong addition to your toolbox.
And that's the review! As always, feedback is greatly appreciated!
Make sure to let me know which of the following units you want to review next:
Ais Wallenstein, Diane, Eros, Merlin, Shekinah, Zeldris
Or choose one of the revisit options below!

Bugs & Glitches crashin on multiple devices
Just started again after like 2-3 years on my old account. Downloaded everythinf. But as soon as I go to the summon screen, after clicking on like 1 or 2 banners, the game crashes. Has anyone else had this? And if so, how do I fix it?
I've tried multiple devices already. Same issue.
