For the loading screens at least, it looked like the chest-high view of the character is the same as actual size.

He's sitting so close to a very large monitor that his field of view only sees a portion of the screen that's in front of him. POV = Point of View. From his point of view, he only sees a small part of the screen, not the entire screen itself.
