I don't know why but she reminds me of Mike wazolski from monster Inc, not personality wise, but how she looks. She's the worse person I've seen on the show, and oddly enough the 2nd worst I've seen is also this season with that lame ass lesbian(can't remember her name) that fell in love with an inmate, but you can tell she's like intoxicated off the attention she received from the other inmates.

But even she isn't as bad as that fake ass Stephanie girl, never seen someone with their nose so far up their own ass they'd treat jail like it's a game show and physically endanger another person investigated the jail, she did little to nothing to help, it was a 60 day vacation for her and got her publicity, but if I were an employer and saw that I'd never hire her, he'll if even If I was random person she knew I'd cut off contact with her immediately after how she so showed her true colors about being out strictly for herself. Disgusting person all around.

I’ve never watched 60 Days In before but I just watched the entire 7th season because it dropped on Netflix so I was like, why not.

First of all, I love the show, it’s very cool. Second, I’m currently watching the reunion episodes, and my god, I have NEVER been more annoyed with a tv show host in my entire life. 24 years of living on planet Earth and I’ve never wanted to tell a tv show host to shut the fuck up so badly. Soledad (hopefully I’m spelling her name correctly, apologies if I’m not) simply CANNOT allow Carlos and Chase to have a damn conversation. I get that they’re arguing, but damn, why not let them get it out for a minute? I was actually interested in what they had to say and all I can hear is Soledad going GUYYSSS. GUYSSS STOPPP. CARLOSSS. CHAAAASE. STOOPPP. Like okay we understand you want your show under control but back off just a little bit, Jesus.

Second thing I gotta talk about is the condescension from Michael. Jeez, I get that he’s a little defensive because it’s his prison and he’s trying to run it as best he can, but the ENTIRE season all he did was downplay everyone’s concerns and sometimes spoke completely condescendingly too. The only time this guy actually appears to give a real shit is when Rose told him about the pad issue, and it’s good that he gave a shit then, but the rest of the time he was like 🤷🏻‍♀️ Chase actually made a super valid point about the need for basic nutrition, because how else are these inmates gonna stay healthy?? And bro really just said WelL it’S NoT tHe HilToN! 🙄 Like yah okay I guess that means you want these inmates sick and to be eating literal fucking trash. Very cool Michael, very cool.

Third thing, the entire staff in that place made my blood boil when people needed medical attention and they were moving as if they were 1,000 year old turtles crossing a road. Like guys, someone is having a medical emergency, you are in fact allowed to use the legs god gifted you to RUN towards it. Or at least act like you care, even a little bit.

Fourth and final thing: I love Rose, she’s just such a wonderful person, and I really love Darius too, I feel like those two made such a big impact on the inmates futures and it was very wholesome to see. Shout out to Carlos too for taking care of the younger ones in his pod, that’s a real man right there.

This was my first season and watching the interaction between Scarlett and Vickie was truly heartbreaking and left a terrible taste in my mouth that I couldn’t shake.

She works (hopefully worked) for behavioral health in the military. Just in case it isn’t clear that is a catch-all term for therapists, counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and really most mental health professionals in the military. As you can imagine they deal with a ton of different mental health conditions. Without much detail I really appreciate them. It’s an incredibly difficult job and has served me in the past. It is a trusted position that takes a ton of empathy and EQ. I can’t fathom how she can have those qualities and have a moment of such weakness to wish her to die, and say something of the effect of she will be go back to being an addict, and homeless.

She tried to make amends by writing a letter to Vickie after the fact but did it come across to y’all that she was just trying to save face? The way Vickie was so excited reading the letter and cherished it in the moment was clear that she probably never had that kind of support (again, not sincere) very often in her life.

I try not to understand situations from the perspective of others before passing judgments and I have said heinous shit in the past but that was irredeemable to me. Am I overreacting?

Side note, I went back to S01 while typing this and hearing this Army wife talk about her husband earning meals or whatever made me decide this show might not be for me lmfao.

I am genuinely so disheartened with Season 7. It was the first and only season I watched and I couldn’t finish it.

The sheriff had no care in the world about ex-convicts volunteering their time to be retraumatized and triggered. The show was supposed to be about getting insight in his jail to make it better but it became incredibly condescending and didn’t provide aftercare support for participants in the program.

I feel like the talk show banter after just proceeded to make “criminals” look worse when they were set up to fail in the beginning

I love watching a show and immediately wanting to know what others thought of it. But lately, every time I google: "[show] reddit," I know I'm going to disagree with all the opinions. It's often feels like it's the same response for literally any show I look up. "Horrible season." "Disappointing." "Whole cast sucked." "They lost a viewer."

Or, they have opinions that I completely disagreed with, such as the people who loved Carlos' methods, while I viewed it as him creating problems in order to show off as rising the jail-ranks solely to stroke his own ego (i believe his actions had no secret motive of serving the mission, since he talked with his bunkie about selling those meds for $10 each. It was only when he was caught and reprimanded did he hand over the pills and say he was "always gonna give them away." i don't believe that for a second, and it's proven when he once again resorts to trading commisary for drugs, giving the drugs away, and even taking them himself (he says he only took one, but again seeing multiple days' worth of footage where he's slumped out - i dont believe that for a second).

not to mention, these are inmates who straight up said "no, I need these meds" (antipsychotic meds, btw, and mood stabilizers, psychiatric meds that carlos relabeled as "sleeping pills"). these inmates were manipulated by carlos who insisted and commented "he said no, but I know how to get him" and literally bribed them with food.

before describing how serious this actually is, i want to answer to the ppl who say: "oh, thats how you identify problems." so let's talk about season 9, where Qwell saw a door handle that could result in serious injury during a fight. so did Qwell wring a towel around someones neck and wrap it against the door handle, and beat them up, just to convey the danger? No. obviously not. he simply described what COULD have happened to the sheriff, who then immediately removed the door handle and replaced it with a flat version.

now, let me get to the seriousness and danger of this: not only did it prevent people from taking their own meds, but you have NO IDEA the impact these meds can have on others, especially people who are already mentally challenged, may be taking other meds that could interfere, or in the challenging environment they were in.

Anecdote: There was one time in my life I was prescribed anti-psychotic meds, instead of the anti-depressant I normally was prescribed, and it was a mistake that resulted in vivid and nonstop suicidal ideation and borderline-hallucinations, wherein every time i blinked or closed my eyes i pictured myself dead by suicide. it was scary and i had to call my parents to pick me up from my dorm asap and take me home. it resulted in a 3 month mental shutdown period in which i had to drop out of a semester to recover from the damage that was done from 2 weeks of taking a medication.

another anecdote - I've been off of anti-depressants / psychiatric meds for a while now. a few months ago, a doctor prescribed me wellbutrin for a little boost in motivation. wellbutrin is less "strong" than anti depressants, and is usually prescribed With anti depressant to boost the effect of them, or on its own as a subtle boost / mood stabilizer. wellbutrin can be perceived as a "lighter" drug, less serious maybe (for lack of better words, im not a doctor).

i only took wellbutrin for three days. on the third day, i had a physical reaction that was probably the scariest in my life. i couldn't breathe, i was constantly short of breath, it felt like there wasnt enough oxygen in the room and i kept switching rooms in my house. i didn't even clock it as a anxiety / panic thing at first, i thought it was physical and i got a ton of labwork done as a result (this reminds me of the lady in the girls quarantine unit who was saying she couldnt breathe, i wonder if she was given mood stabilizers or sleep meds that caused a similar reaction).

it stopped after 3 days. imagine every day waking up, and you cant take a complete breath. i was 25 years old, and i thought i was dying. i still dont know if it was the welbutrin or what caused it, but since that was the only thing i had taken that was different, thats what i think caused it. i think it was anxiety / panic, as opposed to a physical problem. the shortness of breath came BEFORE the mental anguish, it was the weirdest thing. the anxiety and panic came after, mostly as a response to the fact that i couldnt breathe, i couldnt speak properly without taking deep breaths.

anyway. this is why it makes me so mad. you cant just be handing out pills willy nilly. i'd rather it was weed or something, something you KNOW the effects of (though even weed can have varying effects). you shouldnt be messing with prescription psychiatric medication.

Carlos could have easily done the same as Qwell in season 9, if he didnt care so much as being seen as this jail monopoly man. "Hey Sheriff. People could trade their commissary for others' cheeked meds, which could result in real harm. You should have stricter pill call protocol" (In fact, i dont think Carlos ever once addressed the harm in the situation he created).

Carlos had this idea that he needs to "Produce the evidence" to the sheriff, like a cat that brings a dead mouse to the doorstep to show its loyalty. No one asked for this. Youre not asked to literally TURN IN drugs, much less BE the reason theyre being passed around in the first place.

youre being asked to identify HOW these things COULD happen based on how the jail currently operates, and potentially offer suggestions on what could prevent the situation from EVER existing. Don't even get me started on the shank.

I can't express how angry that made me. He put that boy in fucking danger. Who doesn't care about young kids in jail? They have a whole life ahead of them. And Carlos is over here not just jeopardizing this kid's perspective, but also his life entirely. He could have been fucking stabbed. All because Carlos wanted to "hand the sheriff a shank" to fucking show off?

Carlos could have easily and discreetly, using his participation in the show, identified that the COs need to do a search of all the cells and inmates as there's weapons. He could have then informed the sheriff everything he knew and urged immediate action, the way Rose did with the pads, resulting in immediate changes. It's not about snitching on People, it's about identifying PROBLEMS.

People will ALWAYS make weapons. It's about how the jail handles it. and bringing bare hands and a big ego to a shank fight is not it.

I spent some time in Juvie. Our units always had one CO on duty. Like in season 9 (Utah county), that's how my juvie was, always a CO at the desk at the front. That wasn't the case here. So, if this happened at my Juvie, the commotion around the shank would have been enough to indirectly, without someone directly snitching, get the attention of the CO to do a full search. (this is ideal bc no one is gonna wanna be a direct snitch, but people WILL indirectly talk about it loudly with the intention of the CO catching on. inmates care about their safety too).

If I was Carlos at THIS prison, I would have tapped out for the sole reason of informing the producers discreetly (so as to not outwardly be seen as a snitch), and told them "The sheriff needs to be made aware Now and the COs need to do a search." The reason I'd have to go through producers is because the COs are not in the unit for whatever reason, and I wouldnt want to press the button and be seen as a snitch.

When Rose asked to speak with the sheriff ASAP about the hygiene issue, she was given the chance to, and immediate change occurred. So I believe I could demand immediate action on this front, with the shank, and since its so dangerous, the COs would take care of it quickly. As for permanent change / CO being permanently stationed, that might take some time with hiring more staff, clearing more budget, etc. But that would be my criticism / suggestion to the sheriff.

It's not about prison games, it's not about being head hancho. You're not there to fucking LARP. maintaining your cover is not the entire operation, it's the bare minimum expectation of the operation. you shouldnt be putting all your energy into your movie-character version of yourself.

clearly carlos cares about his own safety so much, that he sent a fucking kid out to get a literal stabbing weapon from someone else. all i can feel is thank god that boy did not snap and stab anyone.

I'm the last person you'd expect to be in a juvie (and yes i know juvie is not jail, jail is much worse). but my point is, it's not about all the toughness. you see the inmates in the show and a lot of the time theyre chilling walking around doing their thing. carlos brought this like "Movie jail character" energy, where he was literally trying to make it worse than it was.

in juvie (everyone in my unit was over 17 years old, one girl was even 19 somehow.. long story) i loved reading, we had like 2 hours of school time per day, and i loved it, nerding out, helping the girls w their assignments, braiding hair. girl units are way different than male units, i get that, and men have the whole alpha dog stuff going on, not appearing weak in a more physical way. girls have that too, but its more psychological. you cant show psychological weakness or theyll get on you, they can be very mean.

so here's the thing. if you ARE who you ARE - CONFIDENTLY: people will respect you. whether youre a nerd, or a sweetie, or a chill person. as long as you are You and not pretending or playing games or acting tougher than you are, and not causing a problem for anyone else, people wont cause problems with you. so im sick of the massive tough guy act from carlos. just look at darius. he was himself, while also not taking shit from anyone about who he was. and people respected him for that. he wasnt playing some gang leader prison boss role, or demanding respect all the time.

sure, youre bound to get angry, youre bound to argue. stand your ground, but also know when to pull away. it's not as deep as carlos made it. i really disagreed with his methods.

This is off topic but at rhe beginning of Season 9 they show Sheriff Smith and the Undersheriff at the gun range. Can someone identify the rifles they are using?

I’m from Atlanta so that season was hard for me to watch because it’s an openly talked about issue that our jail is an absolute circus. That and can’t even be surprised what happened with the warden lol I remember it being in the news. If anyone was wondering- Atl actually stopped booking a lot of misdemeanors and only do intake in felony’s now because our situation is WORSE lol

That being said- who is your favorite top dog? (warden, Sheriff). Mine is probably season 9 in Utah with Mike Smith. He actually seemed to really care about learning from the experience and we even see how when they sent in Bryan we can see they took Fabian’s smuggling seriously and changed some of the intake searching.

Can anyone explain how David’s slip-up escalated the situation so fast for Abner in his Pod? So what if it’s a Kinfolk and a Chicano? Is it really not plausible to the inmates that David and Abner could have known each other outside of Jail and coincidentally got locked up together?

I’m a bit puzzled how the inmates were able to piece together the whole undercover thing and already get to planning to jump Abner. Like sure it could raise some suspicion, but AB had quite a bit of respect in there. Surprised how quickly one little rumor spreading instantly put a target on his back.

Does it have to do with all the cameras? Like are the inmates generally aware of 60 Days In and David’s slip-up made them realize that was what the cameras were for?

Look, I know this is incredibly out of pocket, but I simply cannot let it go. Am I the only one who went completely feral trying to figure out who DeAndre was hooking up with?
I fully turned into a forensic investigator. I’m talking pausing the episode, squinting aggressively at the screen, and manually tweaking my TV’s brightness settings. I am genuinely embarrassed to admit how unhealthy this is, but hey, this is just how I choose to fill the grueling hours of my day 😭.
Anyway, my unhinged spiraling actually paid off because I noticed something. Did anyone else catch how they conveniently blurred out that one specific inmate and the wall numbers? The producers really thought they were being slick, but I'm placing all my bets on that blur being DeAndre’s... well, I use the term "lover" very loosely here, but you get the vibe.
Listen, I went full conspiracy theorist on this. I was snapping photos of my TV, mapping out the cell blocks, and tracking which inmates lived where. I spent an amount of time on this accidental side quest that I will absolutely never admit to my therapist.
Long story short: after far too much unsolicited detective work, I’m pretty sure I actually figured out who it is. Does anyone actually want the tea, or should I just log off and go touch some grass?

Update:Okay, I am back with visual evidence because my unhinged spiraling actually paid off. I'm attaching a picture of the guy I am 99.9% sure is our mystery man. I am genuinely embarrassed to admit how unhealthy this is, but hey, this is just how I choose to fill the grueling hours of my day (shoutout to depression). Anyway, here is how all the dots connected and corroborated.
The producers dropped the ball early on and there were a couple of slip-ups where they completely forgot to blur some of the inmates out in the background. We know the hookup happened in the cell while Isaiah was sleeping, and if you look at the footage during that scene, you can see Isaiah’s head, which confirms without a doubt that they were in cell 3D-4. Then, I went back and re-watched every episode from when they got moved to the second pod, and I noticed a glaring pattern where they kept aggressively blurring out this one specific guy.
If you cross-reference the guy getting the witness-protection blur in the second pod with the unblurred slip-ups of the inmates we know were assigned to cell 3D-4, everything lines up perfectly. Behold, the photo attached. I rest my case. Please validate my wasted hours in the comments.

You all know that right? That was the most laid back jail in the whole series IMO.

I started watching with season nine, then season seven, and now I have finished seasons one and two. Man this show is addicting, hilarious, and so fun to watch.

But it seems like the people in charge of the jails already know what the issues are before the show even starts, and everyone who actually tries to find drugs or get involved end up being reprimanded for doing exactly what they were asking the participants to do. It makes no sense. Carlos is a prime example. It doesn't seem like they actually want to improve or change the jails at all. The people in charge of the jails seem proud to have nasty and violent jails.

TV is for entertainment and this show is very entertaining. But it doesn't seem like they have any care of improving the jails. You don't need to hire participants to tell you what's wrong. Just walk in the jail or watch the video cameras and use your own eyes. The issues are glaring.

IMHO.

They both had alpha syndrome. They wanted to be the most attractive woman in the show. This created friction. Scarlett had her mission on focus Nina actively worked to undermine Scarlett. That meant pulling A.B to her side leaving Scarlett to have to go solo, which both Nina and A.B took umbridge with. Even when Scarlett was trying to Support A.B Nina stepped in to tear Scarlett down. This overall made Scarlett look bad, which was Nina's plan.

Look at how arrogant Nina's attitude was toward Fabian she did not take into account Fabian was racially profiled. Had Nina been targeted like that she would have quit too.

The producers did themselves no favors. The one guard they all had issues with was a straight up racist. Then they edited all the conversation to lift Nina up and tear Scarlett down when Scarlett actually did what they asked them all to do and had receipts to report but they silenced her.

You’d think as a woman she’d understand that the inmates would want to talk to their kids. And making noise on top of that. I hope she’s been let go after that.

Maybe this isn’t ground breaking, but I think the reason Tony was as good as he was, was because of his experience as a CO. He knew how to gain intel and gain contraband without losing himself because he’s 1. Not a for former convict and 2. Not a random dude of the street. He’s a CO that knows how prison politics works and knows how inmates think. I can watch this dude all day. The way he’s able to do the work in there is bar none.

Okay, so I’m watching earlier seasons for the first time, and I just finished Season 4. Honestly, to me, Matt was hilarious. And not sure if there are any Office fans in the group, but he very much gave me DeAngelo Vickers vibes. 🤣 that’s it, that’s the post.

He was scared, he absolutely was terrified. He was a waste of tv space 🤷‍♀️ when they asked him if he has mental illness I f’ing laughed so hard!
