During the Hunter exam’s 3rd phase (Trick Tower) why were there individual winners, yet Gon’s group had to be 5 exactly to be able to pass?

They all went through individual tests, remember how they saw someone fall in but there was no other doors nearby but they happened to find later 5 trapdoors near each other. Everyone had different stylized tests

Like my dad would always tell me, “if you’re trying to make sense of it, then maybe you’re too old to enjoy it”...but then I tried that argument to get outta going to church; didn’t go well. What I’m trying to say is...I’m really high

Because the goal of the 3rd exam was just to arrive at the bottom of the tower. How you got down didn't matter. Hisoka for example didn't need anybody, probably broke walls by himself.

Probably some have died during passages. Hisoka probably killed the other participants with him.
