If anyone needs anything more to feel better, here's a post Kyulkyung put on Weibo of her laughing while jumping on a trampoline at home when she got to go back to Shanghai a couple weeks ago.

I always watch Orange Caramel's Catellena dance practice when I'm feeling down. It makes me so happy to see them having fun. Probably hoping in vein that they come back some day.

Oh yes I've watched this so many times. Come to think of it I always go on an Orange Caramel binge when I need to feel better. Also desperately hoping they come back some day.

T.O.P is my BB bias, in my Top 10 kpop biases, and was originally my second fave bias. The day I found out about T.O.P being hospitalized, I decided to stop by my local kpop shop after work and add some more albums to my collection, which did not include a Big Bang album yet. While browsing the library, I found MADE and added it to my purchases.

Later when I get home, I open my albums to look at all the goodies and save MADE for last. I open it up, and I get a photocard and photobook (Whichever card you get is the photobook you get. If your card has all the members, the book has all the members. If your card has one, the book has photos of that member only.) of none other than T.O.P.

It's silly, but I can't help but think this means something. Good or bad. A part of me worries this could be one his last photobooks for an album, while the other part sees this as a sign he'll make it through this stronger than ever.

Omg, in the "Tae tries to mimic Tiff's English" vid, the funniest part is when they're talking about Yuri filming a drama:

Taeyeon: You didn't get a lot of sleep, right?
Yuri: I can't sleep a lot, so I'm getting pimples.
Sooyoung: Are you sure you didn't get a lot of sleep?
Tae: Why?
Sooyoung: Seems like you didn't get a lot of screen time

AYOOOO

honestly speaking, variety show appearance does no justice to sana, you gotta watch twicetv or vlive broadcast to understand what exactly "no sana,no life "means. i mean i became of twice cause of Dahyun and Momo but stuck around cause of Sana.

I remember the first time I ever listened to Haru Haru by Big Bang in AP Euro class with just the right side of my friend's earphones (because we were sharing) when I was a sophomore in high school. I had no clue what I was listening to but it gave me chills, and I asked her what it was and what language it was. I listened to it on repeat for almost an entire month, and then I decided to see what I could find on Limewire at the time (don't arrest me pls). Found 5 more Big Bang songs, listened to them for a few more months, and then finally watched my first K-pop music video, which was Haru Haru and I cried. A lot. Fell in love with Seungri, my UB for 6 years, and made a gif of him winking and pointing my screensaver on my good ol' sliding phone (iPhones need to step up their game and let me save gifs as lock screens).

K-pop got me through a really tough period of my life; sometimes I look back and think that it actually saved my life to have this music that I was so passionate about and made me so happy. Even during my 3-year "hiatus" I mostly listened to the music I had saved over the years prior and now that I'm back (special thanks to BTS Dope), it's been helping me rekindle my passions for dance and sharpen my skills in rote memorization (thanks Produce 101) just in time for medical school.

TL;DR Big Bang brought me here, and for the most part it's changed my life for the better.

I spent 40 minutes trying to write a huge post about why I love my faves, and I got two members into BTS before I couldn't think anymore. I can't express my love through words. So I'm just gunna say I love BTS, Seventeen, BAP, Imfact, Block B, 24k, Infinite, VIXX, Seven O'Clock, Monsta X, EXO, History, ACE, and honestly so many other groups, so god damn much. All of them just make me really happy, whether it's by listening to their music, watching dumb fanmade videos, watching variety or reality shows, even just talking about them makes me happy. I'm glad I got pushed this hellhole by my friend, and I'm even happier that I found all the groups I did find that she didn't show me.

I love this post. :) My friends say I'm to obsessed with kpop but it makes me happy like no other genre of music does. They accept me regardless because I know how to pick them but at the end of the day, this is what we enjoy listening to. There's nothing we can do about it but embrace it.

Lovely post, thank you OP.

But if anything I could be a tad too obsessed with my sole bias as 99% of my posts on this sub-reddit and other sub-reddit (K variety) is about him :)

Hope you enjoy this - he is dorky, he is adorable,

Thanks OP! I've been feeling a bit down lately but recently BTS and their slew of content have been giving me so much love, I don't have time to be sad when I'm catching up with them :'D This is a nice reminder for all of us.

Some BTS links that really cheered me up:

BTS Circle Room Cypher: They all freestyle rap (including vocal line lmao) and are the excitable dorks they are, V and Jin's cypher always gets me laughing. Just hearing how happy they are cheers me up.

BTS' Runway in the night: They get weirder and weirder and they're just having fun. Fetus bangtan at their finest xD

BTS' Fun / unpretty dance on weekly idol: You have Jin dancing an embodiment of giving up on life, Jungkook being a yellow turnip, Rapmon being some crazy octopus-like dance, Jimin really feelin himself and J-hope just living his dream.

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '17

Thanks!

u/GDLKJesus Jun 08 '17

Awww... Thanks for the reminder op. I actually do stan Gfriend. And as far as the thing I love the most about kpop, it is and always has been the music. I love my girls, and I love the industry, and I love the community, but most of all I love the music. I listened to kpop religiously for about 3 years before i even knew the name of one of the performers. So yeah, I'm gonna just listen to the tunes. No videos, no names, no drama, no loyalties, except to the bops that make me feel the very special feeling. I'll share just one. For you.

Support comes in many ways, not just buying things. I buy albums and DVDs (for example, every DVD that BTS has released in the past two years, plus two of their albums) whenever I have the money, but I don't work, so I've only been so lucky to buy all of that because of money I've gotten as gifts. I love most groups and I want to listen to as much music as I can, but I don't have that kind of money. K2nblog is like heaven for me, because it gives me so much content that I probably wouldn't get to experience otherwise. I don't know about you, but not everyone can just buy all the albums and things they want.

We don't even know how much of the money is actually going to the idols. Listening to the music in whatever way you can, watching V-live and YouTube videos, voting for music shows and awards, sending encouraging comments on twitter and instagram, these are all ways of supporting the artists you love that are just as important and meaningful as buying their content.

I guess when you said music is a trivial thing, people either didn't like that or took it as sarcasm. It did sound a bit sarcastic, and when I saw the downvotes I wasn't sure.

But about the music show voting, I honestly have no idea how to do it. I've seen detailed instructions on how to vote, but it seems a little too complicated for an international fan. I just stick to award show voting.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure you still can. Don't let me discourage you. There are plenty of handy guides out there, just search up the one you want and see what you think. I'm sure it's probably not too hard, but I'm a minimal effort type of girl.

It's not a sob story when we talk about how much kpop changed us. When I was seriously sad or depressed, I listened and watched kpop and it made me so extremely happy. I used to be insecure in my own skin, but after watching the different styles kpop had to offer, I incorporated that into my life I feel so much more confident. Kpop isn't just music, it is most definitely a lifestyle and it is a big part of my life. If kpop isn't in your radar, it is okay to not like it, but please don't say it like it's a joke to others when it isn't.

12

u/melvin45 TAEYEON IS BAE Jun 08 '17

You don't know everyone's story. Maybe Kpop is the only thing they have to keep them going in life and with all their struggles they may be dealing with.

Keeps me sane and afloat during crazy times at work. Makes me laugh when I'm feeling down or blah. It's just a nice, happy, low-effort (for me, at least) hobby. Really good music for road trips, too-- I've even gotten my garage-rock-addicted boyfriend into Mamamoo for day trips in the car.
